Chapter 85 - Chapter 85

Once he and the Servant became friends, Waver no longer saw the use of the Command Spells as anything else.

"Use it again; Rider, you must get the Holy Grail."

Waver Velvet thought he was good enough to be a winner, and he was once complacent. But now it's different. After more than a week, after seeing the real heroes with his own eyes, he understood his own incompetence and insignificance. He has understood his own weakness; although he is not depressed, he also understands that he is not qualified to participate in any kind of battle.

But at least in the moments of parting on the eve of the battle, Waver still wanted to let his Servant win. Determined, Waver raised his right hand, and the scarlet spell on the back of his hand shone brightly.

"With this Command Spell, Rider, you must seize the final victory."

The Command Spell was used to drive the Servant, and it was only used for Waver's survival in the past, but now it is different. Once he and his Servant became friends, Waver no longer saw the use of the spells as a tool.

"Use it again; Rider, you must obtain the Holy Grail."

The second spell was gone, but Waver didn't hesitate and continued.

"Finally, Rider, you must take over the whole world and not allow failure."

The three spells that were quickly released emitted a great amount of magical power, swept up a whirlwind, and vanished. That command won't be successful by itself, but it might give Rider the mana to fight.

"In this way, I will no longer be your Master," Waver said with his head down, looking at his feet. "Go, wherever you go, you are..."

Suddenly, Waver felt an irresistible force grab the back of his coat and place him on horseback.

"Of course I'll rush there at once! Since I've received such orders, you must have made up your mind, right?"

"A-Are you an idiot!"

Waver was so disregarded that he was embarrassed and screamed in his heart.

"I don't have a spell anymore! I'm not a Master! Why do you want to take me with you!?"

However, he seemed to have no turning back.

"It doesn't matter if you're a Master or not. You're my friend; that is not going to change."

"..."

Rider's words silenced Waver. At this moment, his heart was extremely complicated.

"People like me... truly... can I really be... by your side?"

"You have been to the battlefield with me so many times and you are still talking about such stupid things? You are a friend; stand side by side with me with your chest out!"

"..."

Waver forgot his self-deprecation, his previous humiliation, his timidity in the face of tomorrow, and his fear of the moment of death.

"Well then, it's time to fulfill the first spell. Keep your eyes open, boy."

"...Ah, I'll be sure to watch with these eyes!"

The legendary steed, Bucephalus, neighed in triumph and began to gallop, leading the King and the magus, whose hearts were one, to the sworn enemy of the decisive battle. And at the moment they rushed into the sky on their horse, on the branch of a large tree outside the house, a black crow spread its wings and flew away.

On the edge of a steel bridge, a red-haired and brown-eyed boy was sitting on the railing at the edge of the bridge. The railing didn't look wide, but the boy was able to balance on it with ease. If a passer-by were to come here at this time in the middle of the night, they would break out in a cold sweat.

But Shirou naturally wouldn't let that happen; he had already set up the bounded field long before he came here to wait for Rider and the others. Passers-by who originally wanted to travel this way would be confused by the barrier and take a detour.

"Tsk... It's going to be a decisive battle, and these two are still being so sentimental..."

Shirou saw the scene between Waver and Rider through his familiar, and for a moment he got goosebumps all over his body, feeling that his whole body was numb. Saber, who was standing to the side, heard Shirou's words and for some reason remembered the moment when she was hugged by the boy from behind at the end of the battle with the Hero King, causing her to frown slightly.

Under the illumination of the lights, her cheeks, which were as white as jade, seemed to be dyed with a faint red halo. Naturally, Shirou, who was looking ahead, didn't notice this; otherwise, he would have been surprised that Saber had such an expression at the moment.

"Hmm... Waver still used the three spells in this place just like in the story, so there was no need to worry about variables caused by the huge magical power of the spells." Shirou muttered under his breath.

While thinking, Shirou straightened his somewhat messy hair. Then, he rolled over, got off the railing, and stood on the bridge deck. It was almost one o'clock in the morning, and the whole city was in a deep sleep; the streets were empty and silent. Probably frightened by the recent frequent strange events, people who were used to night activities had heeded the authorities' advice not to go out at night.

Stay at home honestly; there was not even a shadow of a car on the street at night. Only the asphalt pavement was pale from the street lamps under the cold of the winter night. It was late at night, but despite this, the bridge was as bright as day.

"Shirou, they're coming."

Saber's originally calm expression beside him suddenly became serious, and her eyes were firmly fixed on the front.

"Is it finally here...?"

Shirou took a deep breath and absorbed the mana from the atmosphere into his body. Feeling the magical power in his body surging like a physical substance, the corners of Shirou's mouth raised slightly. The next moment, the neighing of a war horse came from mid-air.

In the middle of the darkness on the deserted street, a horse crossed the sky as if no one else were around. Waver Velvet was sitting on the back of the horse that leaped into the sky, and behind him was the broad, thick chest of the King of Conquerors. As he approached the bridge of steel bathed in night, Waver naturally saw the figures of the boy and girl on the bridge.

"That's————!"

Waver's mouth hung open all at once, and he was shocked beyond measure. Gilgamesh, the Hero King who had been in the limelight from the very beginning and was even more invincible at the King's Banquet, had actually lost at the hands of those two. Inexplicably, Waver's heart swelled with unprecedented tension, and his body couldn't help but tremble. At this time, a thick hand pressed on Waver's shoulder, relieving his uneasiness.
