Chapter 16 - What Now?

(Pov 3rd)

It has been one month since the end of the star plasma mission, and the world of Jujutsu has experienced several changes in that time. Gojo Satoru, who unlocked the reverse curse technique and fully awakened his Limitless technique, was promoted to Special Grade. The star plasma vessel Amanai Riko ultimately decided not to merge with Tengen, and with the protection of both Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru, there was nothing the higher-ups could do to force the issue. As a result, the search for a new vessel began almost immediately, though it has yet to produce results.

After the mission ended, it became known to the Jujutsu world as a whole that Amanai Riko, Gojo Satoru, and Gojo Satoshi were almost killed by the assassin Fushiguro Toji. They also learned he had been hired by the Star Religious Group in an attempt to prevent Tengen from merging. As a result, the group was forcefully disbanded, and many of its leaders were either executed or went on the run.

While Gojo Satoru managed to recover from his injuries due to his newfound reverse curse energy, his younger brother Gojo Satoshi was not so lucky. He had been injured with a special grade cursed tool, the Soul Split Katana, which creates injuries that can't be healed with reverse cursed energy and can even slice the soul itself. As a result, Gojo Satoshi has been in a coma ever since his battle with the sorcerer killer, as he had been forced to rely on standard treatments for his injury. There was usually at least one other student at his side, though it was most often his brother, though rather surprisingly, the next two were Geto and Amanai.

(Pov Satoshi)

Well, at least I wasn't dead. I knew from experience how that felt. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a great position either after my loss. The damage Toji did to my body wasn't the worst, but my soul was another story. When I passed out, I woke very suddenly after to find myself in a nearly empty void with the only object besides myself being a large ball of bluish light that had a tear in it. I had realized this was my soul cut from the cursed tool and still not fully healed. Somehow, though I knew what needed to be done, I would have to fix up my own soul. Sure, it seemed to be healing on its own, but way too slowly, and time doesn't really function in this state, so I had to get to work.

The process sucked, to be honest. I didn't have any tools, so I was mostly grabbing parts that had been separated and holding them together until they fused back into one part. Eventually, I figured out I could sort of tie pieces together so I wouldn't have to spend so much time on each section individually. Yet this whole thing was taking forever, not helped by the occasional outside voices. I assume at this point my body is just in a coma, and others are trying to talk to me, and while I sometimes hear them, it's mostly garbled, out of order, or way too loud.

But after what could have been either days or maybe a year of mushing my own soul around, I was done. The thing was finally back in one piece. It was kind of nice to look at, even if it was mostly blob-shaped. I felt a strange peace when seeing it. As I observed my completed soul, the void around me began to get brighter to the point I had to close my eyes just to keep from going blind. Suddenly, I felt a great force pulling me upwards like I had been grabbed by a giant.

(Pov Satoru)

I had spent most of the past month at the side of his bed. When I nearly died and then managed to come back and beat that guy, I hadn't noticed Satoshi's body until afterwards. It was weird at the moment of learning the reverse cursed technique. I felt better and more alive than ever before, but when I saw my brother like that, I nearly lost it. I wonder if that's how he felt when he found me on the way back?

The others came by, even Yaga showed up a few times, but no matter what, Satoshi wouldn't wake up—from what we could tell, the cursed tool that had been used on him could damage the victim's soul. As such, we had to wait for his soul to heal before he woke up, and they had no idea how long that would take or if it ever would fully heal. So I had decided I would spend time here every day until my brother woke up. I had hoped maybe that my presence would help his soul heal faster.

As I was sitting beside him one day, I noticed his hand twitching for the first time, and shortly after that, his eyes shot open before he closed them again and tried to raise his hand. I couldn't help myself but rush over and grab him into a hug him.

"Satoshi, you're awake! I knew you'd come back to us!" I could feel him shifting around under me before his own arms came up and wrapped around me as well.

"Hey, Satoru been a while, huh?" His voice was strained, but just hearing him again was worth more than anything.

"Hold on, I'll call the others over, they'll be so excited to see you again, and you know I think Shoko missed you too." I couldn't help but tease a little as it was something I had noticed even before that Satoshi and Shoko had been getting closer, and she did seem more worried than she would ever willingly admit.

As I went to grab the others, I felt him grab my wrist, and surprisingly, he had a lot of strength despite the month in bed. "Satoru, I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough. I knew something was wrong, but I couldn't get back soon enough to stop him." He said with tears forming in his eyes.

"Hey, it's not your fault that guy was way stronger than any of us at the time, even if you had been there, I doubt it would have changed our first fight." I said, "Plus, you saved Riko something we couldn't do, so don't worry about it, ok? You did well."

With that, he let himself begin to cry and pulled me back into a hug. Maybe the others could wait a little longer; it was time for me to be a big brother.

So this is an added part to give out a poll I was thinking of adding in Shoko as a relationship and I want to know what you think. Should I add in a relationship between Satoshi and Shoko?
