Chapter 1 - CH 1

The sky was a beautiful dark blue with stars scattered thinly across the fading veil of the night sky, the sun's radiant glow shone slowly encroaching on the territory of darkness.

I groaned, my eyelid fluttering open, only to be assaulted by a pale wash of light

" Agh.."

I rolled off my bed. slamming into the floor, pain flared through my eyes, and when I tried again the reason was apparent.

The window opposite my bed was completely shattered, with faint edges of glass clinging onto the corners of the frame leaving the room awashed in light, the flimsy cloth covering it did little to nothing to block the glare

The rest of the room wasn't any better. paint peeled from the walls, leaving them raw. dust littered every nook and cranny, and the floor was littered with trash—I stopped noticing years ago.

I looked at this mess without much feeling, obviously used to it, it's just how life was when you're in an unfortunate situation.

Luckily I'm doing better than most in the same walk of life, my parents died in a government-funded mission so I was granted a pension and a few other benefits one of them a chance to attend school.

The Downside though ten thousand tamer coins were only enough to last a few years, after running out I was forced to move place to place, abandoned houses, half-broken shelters and metal shacks I personally crafted before finding this one.

I slowly pushed myself off the filth-covered floor, sweeping away the cans of food and dirty clothes on the floor.

" Haah" I exhaled "I need to get ready, judging by the sun I've got school in about an hour "

A dull ache flared behind my eyes—this time not from the light.

Living in the slums and being the only poor kid in class doesn't make me exactly popular.

I clenched my jaw" If I can just get through today and awaken at least a C rank aptitude, those bastards won't have the luxury to laugh at me anymore "

The only problem—

If.
