The group walked through the alleys. Around them stood multiple houses, some destroyed while others still intact.
The whole place gave off an eerie vibe. The silence was suffocating. Ronan tried to start a small casual talk as they crossed another big street.
No one could be seen as far as their eyes could reach, except some rats which occasionally squealed around the small alleys. Evan and Caleb's eyes were a little heavy, blinking continuously as they moved forward.
They both had volunteered and took turns guarding the house, allowing the rest to sleep in silence, the night passed away without any other sudden and unfortunate encounter. But before that, they had to do something about the corpse of the vermyrex lying at their feet.
Ren had immediately taken upon the job and turned it into one of his minions, thereby elevating his spirit power beyond a hundred.
The vermyrex currently roamed around the walls of the city as ordered by him.

Ren contemplated as he looked at his new skill—oblivion integration, while being a step behind the others.
"Have you ever gained a skill?" Ren asked Ronan after seeing the scaredy cat looking for excuses to chit-chat, so why not use this chance?
"Hm, oh, no. I haven't. Did you guys receive one?" Ronan asked but seeing all of them shake their heads, Ren realised that getting a skill would probably require completing a certain set of actions.
Just as they were discussing this, a moving silhouette caught the attention of Evan.
"HEY, Stop," Evan shouted. The individual stood stiff for a second before instantly bolting off to one of the alleys.
"Stop him." Shouting, Evan chased after the guy, Caleb kept his pace just a step behind him while Ronan tried to flank him from the right.
Meanwhile, Ren and Lina tried to corner him from the left but the alley was too small, so they couldn't move ahead in this direction. Having no choice, both returned to where they were and just waited for the rest of them to arrive.
And that's when two vermyrex appeared silently above the roof of a house beside them. But due to Ren and Lina standing in the middle of the street, the vermyrexs couldn't reach them with a single jump.
Just as one of the vermyrex was about to lunge from above, a sudden noise from behind stole its attention.
"Hisss~," the instant both the vermyrex turned their heads, a fourteen-foot-long snake slithered and climbed onto the vermyrex with eight legs and seven pitch-black eyes, it was the same one that was about to attack.
"Shrieeeeeek" in a panic, it tried to bite off the snake's head but at the last second, the snake tilted its head and sank its fangs into one of its eyes.
Ren's head snapped to the building after hearing the sound and seeing the two vermyrex, his body went stiff. He also saw how the orange-colored massive snake fought them.
The vermyrex screamed in agony and before the other one could recover from its shock, a tail coiled around its neck and began to choke it.
The second vermyrex embedded its jaws into the snake's body, causing red blood to spray forth. The snake hissed madly and immediately dipped its small fins into the blood vessels of the eyes of the vermyrex it had just attacked.
The second vermyrex tried to run, but the snake had tightly coiled its absurdly long body around both of them.
It couldn't even scream as the grip around its neck tightened. Its face went red and in the next moment, both of them dropped dead.
"Linaaa," With a loud shout, a girl immediately latched onto Lina, causing both to fall together.
Ren had noticed this girl the previous night only through the eyes of his minion, an ability he discovered while trying to use his oblivion integration after reaching level twenty.
And right now, he had also located her far earlier than Lina due to his absurdly high senses, but he couldn't locate the vermyrexs near him. This further proved his conjecture of them having a stealth-based skill as neither he nor Caleb was able to sense the vermyrex that was right above their heads the previous night.
Shaking his head, he finally focused on the girl before him. She was a head shorter than him and half-a-head taller than Lina. Her hair was copper-orange in color and she wore a black attire sticking closely to her body. The shoulder portions of the clothes were missing. Ren wasn't sure how she was able to wear that cloth without letting it fall off her body but more than that, he was curious about where she had obtained it from.
"Gosh, Selene. Watch out." Lina instantly stood up and turned her head towards the house but was surprised to find nothing there.
Just as she turned her head in confusion, her eyes widened in horror to find the gigantic snake slither around her body and rest its head on her shoulders.
'I knew it.' Ren was already suspicious about how she had reached here without even a speck of blood or dust on her attire. And looking at the snake which had the same color as her hair and how both had appeared around the same time, he was completely sure they were related.
'Selene, huh, so she's the fifth member, whom I was replacing all this time.' His eyes sharpened slightly as he examined her but suddenly, the snake's eyes locked with his.
'Fuck me.' With a slight force on his legs, Ren immediately jumped back as the snake attacked the spot where he was standing.
"Please keep him in check, my lady." With half a smile and slight caution visible on his face, Ren reminded her.
"And you are?" Selene tilted her head as she looked at Ren curiously while caressing the snake's head with her left hand.
