Chapter 7 - Taken Away

The skyscraper stood almost a hundred floors in height, casting a long shadow across the street. It was beautiful and magnificent and every fresh graduate's biggest dream was to work at the Costa company.

Filippo was seated at the top floor in his office, handling the paperwork as usual, a faint smirk on his lips as he hummed as if he didn't have a woman in his home whom he was torturing for no reason at all.

He received a text and checked it, only to see it was from Navira. His smile bloomed even more.

Apparently, she was planning to make dinner after she'd fully moved into the house.

After what had transpired in the past week, he figured it was high time that Navira moved into his home.

As if that wasn't enough, Navira sent him a view once, a picture of herself in sexy lingerie.

"You'll be the death of me," he mumbled to himself.

To him, Navira was completely different from Delfina.

At first, he loved Delfina more than he thought he would. He treasured her but there was something about Delfina he didn't like. She wasn't a pro in the bedroom.

Mr. Costa had arranged his marriage with Delfina without consulting him first and if he refused, his inheritance would be at stake.

But after Navira had appeared at a hotel after a business meeting, wearing the most beautiful dress he'd seen, exposing her curves, he'd completely lost it.

He had a taste and wanted to keep her forever, completely forgetting about Delfina.

There was suddenly a knock on the door, driving Filippo out of his thoughts on how he was going to loosen Navira's panties with his teeth.

"Who's it?" He asked.

The door opened with his secretary leading an older man inside before she closed the door.

"Father," Filippo greeted immediately.

"Are you sure you made the right decision by changing the plans?" He asked as he took his seat. He was in his late sixties, gray hair but yet looked good for his age, sharing an uncanny look with his son.

"Yes, father," he responded, putting his phone face flat on the table. "The Delamonte family don't value her in the first place. They only kept her around to bring them more favor. In a way, they're still getting what they want but with their biological daughter."

"I'm not talking about that," said Mr. Costa, his stern gaze focused on Filippo, making him shrink back in his seat for an unknown reason. "Remember when you were madly in love with that woman. You let her buy twenty percent of stocks in this company because you thought you two would run this company together after getting married."

Filippo's mind went blank for a moment. He'd completely forgotten about that.

His father had transferred the CEO position when he was twenty two, and at that time, he was still madly in love with Delfina.

Thinking back now, he realized it was a terrible mistake.

"Delfina is stupid. I doubt she remembers she still has any share in this company. And even if she does, there's nothing she can do about it," Filippo responded, rubbing his face in frustration.

He wanted to dismiss the disturbance it caused him, but he couldn't just throw it away.

His father stared at him, his gaze cold.

"Make sure she doesn't become a problem, especially in the future, else, I might have to reconsider my decision of making you the CEO of this company," he warned, his tone firm with an underlying threat which Filippo didn't miss at all.

He gave a stiff nod, his head lowered as his father left the office.

Once the man's presence was no more, Filippo hit the table hard with his clenched fist, his nose flaring in anger.

He never wanted to hit Delfina and maltreat her the way he was currently doing. At first, he thought she would be easy to handle especially after she'd caught him at the hospital, but she'd wanted to leave him so easily, as if ten years of being together was all for nothing.

She was willing to throw it away so fast, and that hurt his ego.

Filippo sighed.

"I'll just sell her shares. It shouldn't be that difficult," he said to himself.

He decided to return to work, but a call came through suddenly.

It was Navira.

He smiled. She was the only person that could elevate his mood.

"Did you miss me?" He asked.

"There are a bunch of men who barged into the house and took Delfina away," she yelled into the phone, her voice filled with urgency.

Instantly, he jumped from his seat, his face etched with confusion.

"What?!"

Navira narrated what had happened for the past half an hour. To think so much had happened in just half an hour left him baffled.

Without wasting any more moment, Filippo left the office and rushed home.

When he arrived, everything had been neatly arranged. There was no damage in sight, as if the unknown men had only come for Delfina.

When Navira sighted him, she quickly rushed to him and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him while sobbing.

"Did they hurt you?" He asked, concern laced in his tone.

Navira shook her head. "They didn't do anything to me. They just came, took Delfina away and left. But they were so scary and they all held guns. Even the security couldn't stop them."

Filippo immediately made a mental note to change his security system. All of them were practically useless if a bunch of men could barge into his home and take whoever they liked.

"It's alright." He caressed her shoulders. "I'm here now." He hugged her tighter, as if trying to make her a second skin.

Filippo may seem calm but he was everything but calm.

Delfina had been kidnapped but it hadn't been long enough for him to tell if it was good or bad news. But only time would tell.

But then, what was this feeling?
