'Who's that?' She wondered.
Delfina noticed that Verena was distracted and asked, "Who are you looking at?" She turned and scanned around, but this time, Agatha's back was completely faced to them as she spoke to Phoebe.
"I thought I saw someone," Verena muttered. She shook her head, clearing her mind as her gaze returned to Delfina's. "Thanks for agreeing to meet up. I don't know what our mother must have said to you, but I hope you don't take it to heart."
A scoff escaped from Delfina's lips. "Our mother."
Mrs. Santiago was her biological mother but the woman had made it clear that she didn't want anything to do with her so she wasn't going to address her by that title.
Verena paused for a moment, unsure if she'd said anything wrong.
"She's your mother, not mine," she added.
Verena's lips thinned into a straight line.
Delfina's words just confirmed that their mother must have said something to Delfina before she'd left the hospital the day the accident happened.
