Chapter 119 - Bribing Layla

Back in the real world, Layla was walking towards the front entrance of the school.

She wore a beautiful, red dress that showed off her long legs nicely, as well as her short hair.

Like usual, she had her quiver on her back.

While most of her arrows sticking out of the quiver looked like regular, iron arrows, there were two arrows that stuck out.

One was straight black with red feathers, and another was light-blue in color.

Clipped to the side of her quiver in a special handle was a bow.

But it wasn't the same bow Layla had been using up till now.

While looking as if carved from Beast parts like her last one, denoting it as a Beast Weapon, it was light, and very aerodynamic in shape.

It was mainly a grayish-purple color with the tips of the limb painted yellow.

The riser section also had two bits of metal that sharply stuck out.

This little section was what was known as the "bow sight", and it was there to help aim accurately faster.

Slumped over her right shoulder was a large, black bag.

Though it looked heavy, Layla was actually using her Ability to make it near weightless.

Layla looked around, and let out a deep sigh.

"Tsukuru asked me to meet him in front of the school, and he's not even here…" She grumbled, an annoyed look on her face.

Her eye began to twitch, as she thought about the conversation she and Tsukuru had only ten minutes ago…

In her and Erin's dorm room, Layla was busy filling a black bag with an assortment of things, such as black clothes, sunglasses, and an umbrella.

She was also stuffing a few rather strange things inside, such as a whole clove of garlic, a silver cross, and even a container of sun cream.

Suddenly, just as she was about to zip the bag up, her wristwatch began to beep.

She brought it up to her chest to look at it.

When she saw the name, she let out a sigh.

Instantly, she answered the call.

"Tsukuru…" She said in a strained voice. "What a surprise. Do you…need something?" She asked.

A moment later Tsukuru responded.

"Actually, yes." He replied. "I need to borrow you for a while."

Hearing this, Layla's eye began to twitch.

"Excuse me?" She asked, slightly annoyed.

There was a long sigh from the other end.

"Look, I'm teaching a new friend I made how to use her Ability, and I need someone to show her how to use Telekinesis."

Layla's eye twitched even more.

"Then show them yourself." She muttered through gritted teeth.

"Well, actually, I'd like someone who's actually trained in the Ability to help." He replied. "Besides, you've had your Ability way longer than I've had my Skill."

Hearing this made Layla grit her teeth.

'If only you knew…' She thought bitterly.

"I'm trying to get ready to meet up with Quinn." She replied in a sharp tone. "Because you guys kept him occupied all day yesterday, we weren't able to meet up!"

There was another pause.

"Yeah, well, Quinn's currently occupied at the moment, anyway." He replied nonchalantly, catching Layla's attention. "So, it's not like you can meet him right away, as it is."

Layla quirked an eyebrow.

"What do you mean, he's 'occupied'?" She asked.

"Eh, he asked Vorden how he's so good with Abilities yesterday, and Vorden responded by introducing him to Power Fighters." Tsukuru replied, making Layla's eyes widen.

"Must of really liked it." Tsukuru continued. "In fact, he left before any of us woke up! So isn't lending me a hand better thanjust waiting around all day for him to get done in the VR Room?"

Layla let out a long sigh.

Hearing the sigh, Tsukuru paused.

"What if I…make it worth your while?" He asked.

His words made Layla's eyes widen.

"What do you mean, exactly?" She asked, sounding slightly suspicious.

"Aren't you tired of throwing around those same, weak iron arrows?" He asked. "Help me out, and I'll make you a nice set of Glathrium arrows that'll last way longer."

Hearing his words struck a chord with Layla.

She remained silent for a minute.

She then grit her teeth.

"Fine." She muttered. "Where do you want to meet up?" She asked.

Tsukuru's answer was almost immediate.

"Meet me in front of the school's entrance." Tsukuru replied. "Oh, and bring that stuff for Quinn's 'experiments'. That way, we can head right off to meet up with him once he's done in the VR Pod."

***

As Layla looked around in front of the school's entrance, the only thing she saw was a girl with long, blonde hair.

'That girl…' Layla thought, recognizing her instantly. 'It's the same girl Tsukuru saved in the assembly hall…'

Now slightly intrigued, Layla walked up to the girl.

Amelia's head slumped as she waited around for Tsukuru to show up.

Being outside and around others made her nervous, due to how badly she was treated growing up in the Graylash Family before Grimm inevitably chucked her out onto the streets.

The only thing he had given her was a single credit card with a mere 50,000 credits on it.

Grimm had personally thrown it at her as she was thrown out of the Graylash Estate, and onto the street.

"Don't say I never gave you anything!" Grimm had yelled, as he slammed the door behind Amelia. "Just take it and go! And never ask the Graylash Family for anything ever again!"

Using the card, she had been able to rent a reasonably-nice hotel, as she didn't want to spend all of the money right away, until the military school started a few months later.

As Amelia was sulking, she saw a large shadow overcast her.

Looking up, she saw a girl in a red dress and long, flowing brown hair standing over her.

Seeing her, Amelia's eyes widened.

'She's that girl who was with Tsukuru in the assembly hall…' She thought.

"So you're the 'friend' that Tsukuru is helping with their Ability?" She asked, eyebrow raised.

"Y-Yes…?" Amelia replied, though it sounded more like a question.

However, before either of them could say more, they heard footsteps approaching from behind.

As Amelia saw who it was, her eyes widened.

"Oh, good." Tsukuru's voice replied from behind Layla, causing her to turn around. "You're both here."

As Tsukuru looked at Layla's back, his eyes narrowed.

Her bow looked different.

Not only that, but two of the arrows in her quiver looked out of place.

As he looked at them, the System's "Scanner" function auto-activated, scanning the bow and the arrows one after another.
