Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

A Leak, a Snarl, and a Bad Decision

Leon Ashford didn't think anymore.

He reacted.

The Leak

The files hit social media just before dawn.

No names attached.

No commentary.

Just documents.

Shady overseas transfers Shell foundations Smuggling-linked profits A pattern too consistent to ignore

The internet did the rest.

"Ravencroft money isn't clean?"

"Is this the soup guy's real background?"

"Another fake tycoon?"

The tone shifted fast.

Kael Ravencroft's name—

Once whispered with curiosity—

Was now paired with suspicion.

His fame didn't collapse.

But it declined.

And that, to Kael, was unforgivable.

Kael Investigates

Kael stood in his office, phone pressed to his ear, jaw tight.

"Find who did this," he said coldly.

"I don't care how."

Minutes turned into hours.

Then—

A name.

Leon Ashford.

Kael stared at the screen.

"…Him."

The discarded.

The broken.

The man who had nothing left.

Kael laughed once.

Low.

Angry.

"So you still don't know your place."

Crossing the Line

Kael didn't think this was escalation.

To him—

This was correction.

He made a call.

Not to the League.

Not to lawyers.

To overseas contacts who didn't ask questions.

Quiet people.

Disposable people.

"I want him gone," Kael said calmly.

"But before that—"

He paused.

"I want to talk to him."

The reply was short.

Understood.

Agreement given.

No details exchanged.

Kael ended the call and exhaled slowly.

Possession and Rage

Lunaria was in the next room.

Unaware.

Kael looked toward her door, eyes dark.

"Everything I build," he murmured,

"people try to take."

He straightened his cuffs.

"This time," he said quietly,

"I'll remove the problem."

Elsewhere — The Web Tightens

Red Queen's interface flashed urgently.

Red Queen:

Master, Kael Ravencroft has identified Leon Ashford as the source of the leak.

Hostile intent detected.

Alex read the report without blinking.

Kirlia hovered close, uneasy.

"…So he chose the worst option," Alex said calmly.

He didn't look surprised.

He looked certain.

"Red Queen," Alex continued,

"track everything. No interference. Not yet."

Acknowledged.

Alex leaned back.

Kael had just stepped off the chessboard—

And onto a minefield.

Two Fates in Motion

Leon believed exposure would save him.

Kael believed force would fix everything.

Both were wrong.

And somewhere between those two mistakes—

The trap finished closing.
