"Now… what should I do with her?" Kai muttered, staring at the unconscious blonde girl lying on the shore. He scratched his head. "I never thought the emergency medic rescue training I did in school would actually come in handy."
With that, he carefully rolled her onto her back and began his improvised treatment. Dropping to his knees, he pressed his palms gently against her stomach. "Hush, hush…"
Blegh!
Water gushed from her mouth as he continued pressing, refusing to stop until the flow slowed. Relief flickered across his face as her stomach gradually returned to normal. Yet he could still sense more water trapped inside, which made him doubtful. He pressed again, frustration mounting.
"How much water can her stomach even hold?" Kai groaned, scratching his head. "Don't tell me girls really do have a second stomach…"
Minutes dragged on. He kept at it for over fifteen minutes, until his eleven-year-old body was completely exhausted. Finally, he collapsed back, ignoring her for the moment. With a sigh, he lunged for his bag, pulling out a can of cola and a bag of chips to treat himself instead.
Crunch, crunch!
As Kai munched on his chips, his thoughts wandered. "What should I do now?" In both of his lives, he had never faced a situation like this, stranded on a mysterious island with no explanation for how he got there.
"What happened to old man… and Mom?" he wondered, sighing as he finished the last of his chips and took a final sip of cola. His gaze drifted to the unconscious girl nearby, then up to the sky as he lay back, trying to rest.
"I also have the Omnitrix," he murmured, eyes fixed on the device strapped to his wrist. The unease in his chest began to fade.
"I'm already here. What's the point of overthinking? At least I'm not hopeless."
The Omnitrix was his greatest advantage, compensating for his lack of strength and combat ability. His other lifeline was the backpack, his storage of supplies and the rewards he had collected through the system's daily sign-ins.
As for the system itself, there was no telling what it might grant him next. He had no idea where it came from or why it had chosen him. He would use it, yes, but he knew better than to rely on it completely.
Kai sighed again, his eyes returning to the girl. Frustration welled up inside him. He didn't know if she would survive, but as the only other person here, he couldn't just let her die.
"Should I use that?" He scratched his cheek, then stood up with determination. "Whatever. If I save her, she won't have any complaints later. Besides… I'm still just a kid. Who could blame me?"
Kai moved closer, bent down on his knees, and leaned toward the unconscious girl. "She doesn't seem to have any makeup," he thought absentmindedly before pressing his lips to hers, beginning to blow air gently into her lungs.
Her body trembled, and Kai felt the effort working. He blew more urgently until.
Blegh!
Water splashed against his lips, forcing him to stop. Wiping his mouth, he quickly shifted to pressing her stomach, determined to expel the remaining water.
"Cough… cough…"
Relief washed over him as the girl began coughing violently. Kai pulled her upright and rubbed her back gently, helping her through the fit.
"Are you all right?" he asked, concern in his voice.
The girl didn't answer at first, too busy coughing and vomiting the seawater. After several minutes, her complexion slowly returned to normal. Finally, she lifted her gaze and saw him, a boy, no older than eleven, with white hair, green eyes, a school uniform, white shirt paired with black pants that reached his knees.
As her consciousness steadied, she whispered in confusion, "Who.. ?".
Though wary, she didn't distance herself. After all, he was just a child, and her guard was low. She glanced down at her soaked clothes, cheeks flushed as she rubbed them awkwardly.
Kai noticed and quickly pulled a towel from his backpack, handing it to her. "Here use this to wipe yourself."
