Starfall Lake
"Munch, munch… hmm, the scenery here is really nice huh, munch " Kai said, nibbling a macaron as he gazed at the water.
"Munch, munch, you're right. It's beautiful, and kind of romantic," Lumine replied, sitting beside him and looking at the lake and the statue while she, too, munched on a macaron.
Kai sighed and shook his head, watching the blonde girl who still behaved like a child. 'At least we're safe now. What should we do next?' he wondered.
Suddenly his small eleven‑year‑old body trembled and his shoulder felt heavy. "Look look, there's something floating in the river," Lumine cried.
Kai gave her a deadpan look, then lazily turned to where she pointed. To his surprise he saw a little child in white clothing, white hair drifting like a pale shape on the water. At first he was stunned, then alarmed; he sprang to his feet, smacked Lumine lightly on the head, and ran toward the shore. "Idiot, that's not just something floating. That's a child drowning! Hurry, let's see if we can save her."
Lumine snapped to attention, panic flaring, and followed him. As they reached the water's edge they could see the child clearly: about five or six years old, white hair crowned with a star‑shaped tiara, dressed in white garments embroidered with star patterns.
Kai stopped at the shore and turned to Lumine. "You go, save the kid. I don't know how to swim."
(Kai:That was a lie; i did know how to swim, but i didn't want my clothes to get wet, well who will know if i don't tell you)
Lumine eyed him suspiciously, something felt off but she couldn't put it into words. Seeing the drowning child, she didn't hesitate and plunged in.
Five hundred years later. (Just kidding.)
Lumine stared with a serious expression at Kai, who was equally serious, staring back at Lumine, who was also staring at Kai, who was also-
[A/N: Could you two please stop this.]
"Cough, cough… so what should we do now with her?" Lumine turned her eyes toward Kai, who was still staring at her, who was also+
[A/N: Seriously.]
"Cough. Let me see. I did take a class on rescuing drowning people." Kai hopped down, checked the kid, and placed both palms on her stomach. Pressing gently, water began to trickle out of the little girl's mouth like saliva dripping.
Seeing his method working, he continued, more water spilling out. Lumine watched, feeling something strange, but since rescuing came first, she stayed quiet. Kai slowed his movements as he felt the girl twitch.
So he grabbed her legs and started spinning himself with her. The girl trembled in his grip, water spraying out like a water gun. Lumine recoiled, distancing herself quickly, staring at him in horror.
She didn't know how he saved her, but it was good he was just a kid, otherwise she wouldn't know how to feel about being rescued like this. Either way, Kai was safe from her judgment for now.
Back to the girl: after a minute of spinning, she finally reacted. Her eyes opened, and the first thing she saw was the world spinning, her body floating upward like a balloon. But as she fully woke, she realized she was the one spinning.
"Wooo! What is happening?! Why is Paimon spinning?! Wooo wooo!"
Hearing her cries, Kai slowed down, stopped completely, regained his balance, and gently placed her down. He looked at the kid, stars spinning in her eyes, and poked her stomach with his finger.
After two minutes, Paimon, still nauseous sat up groggily, teary-eyed, and looked around. Finally, she noticed a kid with the same white hair but wearing a green jacket and a uniform she had never seen before.
"Wuaaaa! Who are you, and what did you do to Paimon?!" She floated up quickly, glaring at Kai with vigilance, scanning the surroundings.
Kai, hearing the question, felt something click inside him. A wicked smile formed on his cute, harmless face, scaring the teary‑eyed Paimon, who trembled.
"Hehehe… do you want to know who I am? Do you want to know what we did to you? Hahaha, we-uck!"
Thud.
A solid chop landed on his fluffy head with a merciless sound. The one who delivered it was none other than Lumine. She looked at Kai with a helpless expression and scolded him:
"What are you doing? Stop scaring little kids, hmph."
She then turned to the trembling loli, who became even more frightened under Lumine's gaze. Floating backward, Paimon waved both hands frantically and cried out in a panicked voice:
"Plea‑please, do not hit Paimon! Paimon is not good to hit!"
