The water was warm, a soothing balm against my skin that slowly pulled me back to consciousness.
When I opened my eyes, Elara was there, wiping my body clean with unhurried hands. It was an awkward position to be in. I didn't remember receiving a bath, and by Elara Holloway, of all people.
Strangely, I didn't hate it.
If anything, it felt like a reward. As if all the exhaustion I had carried with me was being washed away along with everything else.
When she finished, I wrapped my arms around her neck without thinking, clinging to her like a spoiled child. My head still felt foggy, my body heavy.
"Now that you're awake, shall we continue in bed?"
I jerked my head up, startled. I couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. I could barely stand, yet she looked completely unaffected, as if carrying me had taken no effort at all.
"What? You didn't think we were done, did you?"
