"Sis, give me my allowance."
"What for?" Elara answered without looking.
It had been a while since Max had been talking while Elara answered without really listening.
"You aren't even listening to me!" Max pushed herself up from her chair. "Just who are you shopping for, anyway?"
"Someone I know." Elara flicked her finger against Max's forehead, pushing her back into her seat.
Her pale forehead reddened, but Max clutched her chest dramatically. "You wound me. Oh, my heart, I can't recover from this betrayal."
She stretched her already stretched hoodie. Especially at the neck, as it was slipping over one of her shoulders.
Was that what people her age wore now? Elara dismissed the thought and changed her search.
After seeing Elara motionless, she resumed begging.
"Come on, please? Give me some money."
"Did I not give it to you already? I remember depositing it onto your card."
