Chapter 74 - Not To Me

The sky was a perfect azure, the sun warm and constant without a single cloud to break the blue.

It was comfortable inside the car, but I still rolled the window down.

Cold air rushed in, brushing pleasantly through my silk-soft red hair as it danced freely in the wind.

In the distance, patches of unmelted white snow clung stubbornly to the mountains.

It was a weekday, so the road was clear—or maybe it was simply because we were already on the highway.

Elara still hadn't told me where we were going, but it was obvious now that we'd left the city behind.

I hadn't traveled much in my life. I could count the times I had left the city on one hand, and most of those were for school trips. There had been that one time with Alex—when we thought we were rich enough to travel.

I cringed inwardly at the memory. It had been painfully embarrassing.

After a long drive, the scenery shifted—and suddenly, the sea stretched out before us.
