Elara drove to the gallery run by Melina. She seriously considered crashing the car right into the building, wondering why she was wasting her time on such useless errands.
By the time she arrived, Melina was nowhere to be found. Elara took that as mercy and wandered the gallery instead, stopping in front of paintings she hadn't come to see and hadn't planned to care about.
The quiet helped. It bled some of the edge off her temper.
Before long, Melina arrived. She was grinning from ear to ear, clearly pleased with herself for cornering Elara into the meeting with Lana.
The sight made Elara's fingers itch. She imagined spitting in that smiling face and imagined the shock.
She filed the thought away for later.
They stood side by side in front of a large canvas when Melina spoke.
"So, is the girl alright?"
Elara didn't look at her. Her gaze remained on the painting.
