"Can someone tell me what just happened?"
Severin blinked, his eyes full of disbelief.
He instinctively turned to look at Martinez beside him, only to find the same bafflement written all over Martinez's face.
Neither of them had even seen clearly what had just happened. One moment, the final Heroic Spirit was supposed to enter its second phase, and the next, it had been instantly killed!
Could it be that something had gone wrong with the Instance?
A trace of confusion appeared on Severin's face. Just then, Martinez suddenly spoke up.
"Severin, do you think it's possible that the Instance malfunctioned? After all, the [Godfiend Trials] has existed for who knows how many ages."
Severin thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
"I think that's possible. Maybe the final Heroic Spirit simply ran out of stored energy. But if that's the case, doesn't that mean…"
He did not finish the sentence. Instead, he exchanged a look with Martinez.
"Half and half!"
"Deal!"
