Bella's POV
"Mommy!" Toby's voice rang out from his freshly decorated bedroom, the space Fiona and I had spent hours transforming with dinosaur decals and tiny Simba stickers that made his eyes light up.
I found him bouncing on his new mattress like it was his personal playground, clutching a half-eaten pancake that he'd abandoned during dinner. Syrup dripped from his fingers as he launched himself into the air, giggling with pure joy.
"Sweetheart, you need to sit and eat properly," I said, catching him mid-bounce before he could tumble off the bed. The little chair we'd put together that morning still had that new furniture smell, all cardboard and fresh plastic.
His tiny finger shot toward the wall decorations, then swept around to the twinkling fairy lights we'd strung up. His face split into the widest grin, cheeks bulging with pancake like a chipmunk.
