Chapter 2 - TRANSIENCE

CHAPTER 2

Grymm wears a blue wool shirt over black braccae and black gloves, he also wears a headband which holds his pointy ears downward and wears a lavender cloak over him.

He walks with a sac in hand into the dark town lit by glowing mushrooms of all colours growing out of the walls.

Tall pointy eared people purchasing items from kiosks while looking around to make sure they're not seen.

Many other people walk in the same direction as him; towards a ladder leading to a light shining from above it.

A large grey creature wearing steel shoulderpads, leather chest plate and brown braccae stands in front of it. He wields a mace with a bent handle in one hand and the other is stretched forward , collecting diamond pieces to allow passage.

Grymm wipes a sweat bead from his head as he stands before the guard.

"You know the fee; eleven diamond pieces."

"I have twenty gold bars which equates ten diamond pieces."

"Well, you're short one one..."

"Your mace looks...off, I can fix it."

"Why?"

"Weapon repair costs five diamond pieces; I'll do it for free and you take the gold I have to let me pass."

He strokes his non existent beard for a moment then nods, handing him the weapon,Grymm goes to the side and pulls out a hammer made of a square black metal and a wooden handle.

He strikes it repeatedly at stategic positions.

"Hey, what's taking so long?"

"One moment,ugly..."

"What did you just call me?".

Grym mumbles something but makes the strikes even louder to drown out his voice.

He continues to strike it but the handle breaks off from the head of the mace, the guard stomps towards him.

"Hey, what the dragon are you doing?"

Grymm grins at his response, he breathes on his hammer and the colour changes from black to to pure white and strikes the head of the mace into the handle and in a bright flash of light they fuse together.

"Here you go."

Grymm hands him the newly repaired weapon.

"Wha...? How did you...?"

"Blacksmith's secret. Can I pass now? "

The guard steps aside but notices something odd and asks with a wicked grin:

"You're a goblin aren't you?"

Grymm stops in his tracks, his heart immediately started racing. He takes slo steps forward as if to escape the question.

"Just one goblin head'll fetch me a chest full of diamonds."

He inches closer to him, playfully swinging the mace around.

"So what'll.you do..."

He grabs Grymm by the head with one hand, picking him up and holding him upnto his face.

"...to compensate me?"

Grymm struggle to get free, trying but failing to free himself from the guard's grip and he pulls out his hammer.

"What are you gonna do with that? Fix my pot?"

Grymm swings the hammer at him when ankther guard interrupts

"Hey, drop the kid."

"Why? You don't like money?"

"Lionbeard already paid us not to bother him this morning, let him go."

He releases his grip and grymm falls, as he stands up,he taps his hammer on the mace, it breaks of the handle but the guard doesn't notice yet and gets up to leave.

As he emerges from the hole and meets a vast grassy field.

He takes a deep breath and hears the guard screaming about something.

He grins to himself.

"Dung receptacle."

He follows a path in the road that lead to a bridge passing over river, he feels something off and turns around but sees no one but the wind.

He makes his way to a small town if pale skinned people with pointy ears, the men tied their long silver hair in ponytails and wear golden tunics over white fitted shirts and light brown bracae amd black knee length breeches, the women let their hair rest on their shoulders and put on long bright coloured dresses with full skirts, some with jade coloured pendants and golden rings but most aren't wearing the rings.

The town is bustling with people walking around, children playing in the streets.

He starts to feel a sharp pain in his stomach, he stops in his tracks and makes his way to a bar that reeked of various poisons, the smell turned his stomach even more.

He makes his way into the establishment with wooden chairs surrounded by beer kegs as tables;most filled by the townspeople noticing the short man in a dark cloak.

He reaches the bartender looking nauseated.

The burly man with a thick moustacje hiding his mouth in a loose shirt and black trousers comments:

"You don't look well, friend. Maybe youn should see the pixies when the sun goes down."

Grynn slams a bar of gold on the table.

"I...I just need hot water..."

The bartender obliges him, he brings a cup of hot water. He takes one of the golden leaves in his pocket and puts it in the cup.

The colour barely changes colour when he forces the liquid down his throat.

The nausea gradually fades as he heaves a sigh if relief.

The people behind him are talking about alot of things but something grabs his attention:

"Did you hear that blacksmith died today?"

Another responds

"Don't be foolish, he only went to see lord Thornn."

The first replies

"No, lord Thornn specifically requested to see him and I can count how many people have gine to meet him and didn't make it our alive. I hear he broke the rule of posesseing a goblin and not paying tribute."

Grymm immediately gets up and leaves the bar.
