As his back arched, his gaze instantaneously drifted and found a hoe where he had left it. His fingers wound around it, and as he straightened, with no mercy he slammed the metal head of it into the head of the figure who had swung a blade at him.
The cracking sound of the hoe smashing into the head of the man filled the silent night, and as he went crashing to the ground, his blood splashing upon Zuri, the rest of them came into view.
Zuri's eyes darkened.
They were far different from the eyes of the gardener that Wisteria knew.
Without a word, he did a head count of the figures he could see, and when he counted twenty of them, he knew there were twice the number blending and hiding in the shadows of the woods.
"Hah," he sighed as he tossed the hoe to the ground, wiped the blood upon his brows with the back of his hand, and picked up the sword of the fallen assailant.
"Damaris will be here soon," he muttered. "I have to be rid of them all before then."
