Chapter 179: An Ordinary Elf Like Me Is a Popular Star Here? (1) Following the dwarves and the centaurs, the elves became the third other race to visit the Francia Continent.
They established their base outside Falstead Castle, centering it around the sapling grown from the fruit of the World Tree.
Compared to the World Tree on the Keinua Continent, the newly sprouted sapling on the Francia Continent was tiny and unimpressive.
Even so, the mana flowing from that small sapling was powerful enough to instantly sprout and grow the seeds the elves had brought from their homeland, forming a small forest.
Thanks to that, Lee Jinseo was able to install additional greenhouses not only on the Keinua Continent but also within the elves' new base.
The elves named the base built upon the land Jinseo had lent them Elven Forest.
Just as with Dwarf Town, they accepted the name Jinseo had given. Beside the sapling of the World Tree, they installed a spatial transfer magic circle that allowed easy and frequent travel to the Keinua Continent.
Unlike the other continents of different races, the Keinua Continent overflowed with mana, making such a feat possible.
Large numbers of elves traveled back and forth between the Francia Continent and the Keinua Continent almost daily, and Elven Forest gradually transformed into a vibrant and lively region.
As May arrived, the area surrounding Falstead Castle entered full spring.
Among the lands outside the castle where various races resided, the place most filled with the spirit of spring was Elven Forest.
Inside, surrounded by lush trees, fresh green leaves and brilliantly blooming flowers filled the space. Butterflies drawn by the fragrance fluttered about, making it worthy of its name—Forest of the Elves.
Yet despite its beauty, the atmosphere was rather different from what Jinseo had initially imagined.
"Whew, I heard we can harvest the napa cabbage in a few days."
"Already? We just finished harvesting the chili peppers a week ago. Plants really grow quickly inside the greenhouse."
"When we farmed back home, I never realized it—but once you repeat harvest after harvest, time feels like it flies."
Young elves with plows slung over their shoulders gazed at the vegetables growing inside the greenhouse with renewed wonder.
They had first set foot on the human continent as members of the delegation and were now residing in Elven Forest, devoting themselves to farming.
In elven society, young elves served both as scouts and as farmers. Thus, when Jinseo requested skilled agricultural workers, they readily agreed.
The mana flowing from the World Tree sapling accelerated crop growth. Combined with the elves' centuries of cultivation expertise, greenhouse yields far exceeded expectations.
"It's strange. We came to the human continent planning to eat nothing but meat, yet here we are growing vegetables and grains."
"Well, the food grown in the greenhouse tastes good too."
Though they had followed Jinseo because of their fascination with meat, they now sweated diligently over crops.
Aside from the astonishingly short time to harvest, the work itself was much the same as back home.
At first, they worked without much thought. But after witnessing other races marvel at and enjoy the vegetables they had grown, they began to farm with a sense of mission.
"Ah… my sleeve is torn. When did that happen?"
One elf belatedly noticed his ragged left sleeve and looked troubled.
"Let's be careful with the work clothes Mr. Jinseo gave us."
"He said we could wear them roughly, but they were the first gifts we received here. Let's take care of them. Wash them every day, too."
The elves wore outfits commonly seen in Korean rural communities—clothes they had personally requested from Jinseo.
Many wore Saemaeul Movement hats. Some even donned reserve military uniforms or hard-to-find training uniforms. The sight of elf farmers dressed in such a mixture was chaotic in the extreme.
"Oh dear, my hat's covered in dirt too. I've no place to scold you."
"By the way, these pants are incredibly comfortable. I even wear them outside of work."
"A friend farming back home tried them on and asked me to bring several pairs."
"The clothes in that drama all looked comfortable."
On their first day in the Francia Continent, they had watched the wedding video Jinseo played. Afterwards, they asked to see how farming was done in Korea.
The next day, Jinseo played documentary footage—but fearing that might not suffice, he also screened a rural drama.
The drama he chose was a legendary series that sincerely portrayed rural life: JeonX Diary.
Otherworlders who had seen modern dramas found the old series dull. But for the elves, who had never seen a drama before, the response was different.
The slow yet complex daily lives of rural farmers strangely resembled their own.
The elves did not merely watch—they wished to wear the clothing seen in the show. Finding it surprisingly comfortable, they continued wearing it while working.
"Everyone! The food truck is here!"
"What? Already?"
At the announcement, elves emerged from dozens of greenhouses at once.
"You must be hungry. Let's have a snack!"
Parking between the tightly packed greenhouses, Jinseo opened the rear door of the Additional Trailer.
Elf women wearing loose field pants climbed down with large rubber basins balanced on their heads.
"Mr. Jinseo! What's today's snack?"
"Kimchi-mari noodles."
At his answer, their faces brightened.
Unable to eat meat for centuries, elves had long sought ways to diversify their vegetarian diet. As a result, they had grown fond of fermented foods and accepted kimchi without hesitation.
Slurp.
They devoured the noodles soaked in chilled anchovy broth, smiling contentedly.
"One more bowl!"
"Make mine with yeolmu kimchi this time!"
Finishing quickly, they chewed the last half of a boiled egg before extending empty bowls.
While Jinseo prepared fresh noodles, they picked at plates of Vienna sausages with forks.
Kimchi-mari noodles alone were sufficient as a snack, but meat could not be entirely absent. Thus, Jinseo served Vienna sausages as an easy option.
"More Vienna sausages! Eat as much as you like!"
Jason busily pan-fried the sausages, scoring them with a knife. The elves dipped them into sauces of their choice.
"Ketchup is best with Vienna sausages. Everything else is heresy."
"What nonsense? Are you disrespecting mustard?"
"Both of you are fools. Without a fifty-fifty mix of ketchup and mayonnaise, Vienna sausages are not worth discussing."
The peaceful snack time quickly devolved into a heated debate over sauces.
Even eating like that, even dressed like that, they're still beautiful.
As Jinseo served the noodles, he examined their faces.
The clothes they wore were purely practical and looked rustic to him.
Yet even that rusticity could not diminish elven beauty.
And ever since they started using the toiletries I gave them, they're even more radiant.
Though most elves were naturally handsome and beautiful, without proper grooming products, some aspects had seemed lacking.
Up close, their long golden hair had appeared rough.
After Jinseo provided shampoo, conditioner, and treatment, their hair became glossy and elastic—more beautiful than before.
With the addition of cleansing foam and sunscreen, their beauty shone even brighter.
Gulp, gulp.
"Ah… that's good."
Allensia, now an elf farmer, drained a bowl of makgeolli and tapped the metal bowl.
Drinking alcohol while working felt strange to elves. But seeing it frequently in JeonX Diary had sparked curiosity, and they tried a little mid-work.
Unlike their usual fruit wines, makgeolli's grain-based flavor was unique. It soon became popular among elf farmers and an indispensable snack item.
"Mr. Jinseo, have a drink—ah! You can't, right?"
"Yes. So drink my share instead."
Unable to drink while driving the food truck, Jinseo refilled her bowl.
"Over here! Over here!"
"So those are the legendary elves…"
"That high-bridged nose, that glossy golden hair, those firm muscles beneath rolled sleeves…"
Tourists visiting the greenhouse experience course rushed toward the food truck upon spotting the elves enjoying their snack.
Unlike ordinary tourists who traveled as families, visitors to Elven Forest were mostly young women and noble ladies.
"Ah… Lady Allensia downing makgeolli in one go—it's like a painting."
"She was magnificent scoring at the soccer field, but she looks best with a plow over her shoulder, wouldn't you agree?"
Even rustic attire could look entirely different depending on who wore it.
Enhanced by Jinseo's care, the elves looked like figures from a masterpiece regardless of clothing or tools in hand.
Eventually, simply watching handsome and beautiful elves farming became a tourist attraction in itself.
"Everyone! Do not disturb the elves during their meal!"
"Remember Mr. Jinseo's words? If you value the elves, you must respect boundaries!"
When some tourists tried to approach, other noble ladies blocked them.
Though watching from afar was permitted, Jinseo had advised against excessive contact, and they remembered.
"Ah… we truly do not mind."
"You need not be so cautious…"
"No! We would not dare disturb your sacred meal! We are happy simply admiring your beauty from afar!"
Even when reassured, a noblewoman with elaborate curled hair maintained her distance.
I heard they already have a fan club… Is this really all right?
Watching elves become rural idols, Jinseo scratched the back of his head.
"Oh! Is it that time already? I must go first! Mr. Jinseo, I'll head out!"
Glancing at the greenhouse clock, Allensia quickly finished her coffee and stood.
It was time for the final match of the ongoing soccer league.
