Chapter 203 - Chapter 183: The Bride of May (1)

Chapter 183: The Bride of May (1) Kaysus Cathedral, located north of Falstead Castle.

Previously known as a hidden gem among pilgrims, Kaysus Cathedral had seen even more visitors since the appearance of the food truck.

After being designated as one of the tourist courses of Falstead Castle, crowds gathered there every day.

Influenced greatly by Jinseo, the clergy of the cathedral led its atmosphere in a lively rather than solemn direction, allowing the Heirem Order to draw closer to its followers.

No longer a hidden attraction but now one of the representative sites of the Heirem Order, the square in front of Kaysus Cathedral was once again filled with people.

However, the atmosphere today was distinctly different from before.

Those gathered were not tourists or pilgrims, but guests who had come to celebrate a man and a woman beginning a new chapter of life together.

"At last, the two of them are getting married."

Jinseo looked up at the sky as he adjusted the tie around his neck.

Standing beside him was Geshtain, who had attended as the representative of the dwarves.

"I hear it's been nearly two years since they were set up on that match. It certainly took a long time for it to lead to marriage."

"They originally planned to decide within three months whether to marry or not, but somehow it stretched out this long. From the outside, it was rather nerve-wracking."

The first meeting between Aston Hamilton and Stella, who had been set up on a match two years ago, had been awkward even from the perspective of an outsider like Jinseo.

It was not that the two had gotten along poorly. Rather, both had been completely absorbed in the bunsik served at the meeting, making it uncertain whether marriage would follow.

Afterward, the two had to live apart, but thanks to Owl, they exchanged letters and gradually confirmed their feelings for one another.

Their relationship advanced rapidly after Stella came to Falstead Castle to assist Princess Angelica Crudian, who had arrived to study in the Doren Kingdom.

As Jinseo traveled between continents of different races, he had unintentionally become the one who connected the two.

"By the way, it looked like it would pour rain just yesterday… I'm really glad the weather is good today."

As if the heavens themselves were celebrating the marriage, the sky—clouded until the previous day—was now clear and blue, with warm sunlight pouring down over the cathedral.

"Hoho… Owl looks quite excited."

Geshtain smiled as he looked up at Owl, who hovered above the square with steady wingbeats.

Together with other spirits brought by the elves, Owl held a banner in its beak.

The messages written in various languages of different races all congratulated the couple on their marriage.

"This is the first time I've seen a wedding attended by so many different races. They say that long ago, when all races lived on a single continent, such scenes were common… Our ancestors must have lived fascinating lives. I envy them."

As a result of active exchanges among different races sparked by Jinseo's bunsik, it had become easy to see various races within Falstead Castle.

Consequently, guests of many races attended this wedding.

In addition, nobles had flocked there after hearing rumors that the ceremony would be conducted in the style of Korea—the fantastical land of bunsik.

The square in front of Kaysus Cathedral was packed.

"If the ceremony had been held inside the cathedral, it would have been terribly crowded."

"You're right. It was wise to hold it outdoors. But… this tie of mine is suffocatingly uncomfortable."

Geshtain frowned as he gripped his tie with his right hand.

With the agreement of the bride and groom and both families, the wedding was to be conducted in Korean style.

Once that plan was decided, the idea spread among the guests to dress in formal suits, as was customary in Korea. Those who tried them on reacted favorably.

Geshtain liked the suit itself, but the tie around his neck felt cumbersome.

"If it's truly uncomfortable, you may remove it."

"Really?"

At Jinseo's words, Geshtain swiftly loosened the tie and even unbuttoned the top button of his dress shirt.

"Phew! I can finally breathe."

Freed from the constricting sensation unique to ties, Geshtain's expression brightened.

However, after noticing that he was the only guest in a suit without a tie, he took it back out of his pocket.

"You're putting it back on?"

"My thinking was short-sighted. This is the wedding of Aston—one of the food truck's own. And he is Oswald Hamilton's son. I can endure a little discomfort."

"Indeed. As guests, we must observe proper etiquette, even if it is somewhat uncomfortable."

"Princess Angelica, you've arrived."

Jinseo greeted Angelica Crudian, who had attended as the representative of the centaurs.

"How do you like the outfit I gifted you?"

"I like it very much. I would even have the design adjusted slightly for easier movement and wear it in daily life."

She wore a typical women's formal top—a white blouse with a black jacket—while the lower portion was made of black fabric draped over her back and four legs.

"Were you not supposed to arrive with Prince Charles?"

"He apparently woke up late, tired from playing baseball until late yesterday. Still, he will arrive before the ceremony begins, so there is no need to worry."

"There's only one proper baseball stadium here, so he seems truly delighted. I suspect he may stay for quite some time even after the wedding."

"He spends every day at the baseball field with the elves. Both Charles and the elves are quite peculiar."

Angelica shook her head, saying she could not understand those who preferred baseball over soccer.

Dressed in her distinctive dignified manner, she drew the attention of nearby guests.

Yet even more eye-catching—and enviable—than Angelica were those wearing suits, including Jinseo.

The suit, composed of only black and white, made the wearer appear neat and refined with just two colors. It was a fresh shock.

Moreover, all who wore such suits were connected to the food truck that had stirred upheaval across the continent, making them appear even more special.

Among the different races, the ones who suited suits best were undoubtedly the elves.

"Kyaa! Allensia is wearing a suit!"

"She's slicked her hair back today! The ponytail during soccer is beautiful, but this style is magnificent too, Allensia!"

Upon spotting Allensia among the elves dressed in black suits, noblewomen let out exclamations.

If Legolas wore a suit, would he look like that? It truly suits her.

Just watching the elves walking side by side made Jinseo feel as though he were observing a fashion show of handsome youths, dignified middle-aged men, and refined elders.

"Ah… my son is the one getting married, yet I'm the one exhausted. Ah, you're all gathered here."

Oswald Hamilton approached the food truck with drooping shoulders, then greeted Geshtain and Angelica.

"You look quite tired."

"I am… I've shaken so many hands that my palms have gone numb."

His face showed clear fatigue as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Would you like some Bacchus?"

"Please."

After receiving a bottle of Bacchus from Jinseo, Oswald twisted off the cap and drank it down in one gulp.

"Phew, that helps. I never thought I'd be drinking this outside of signing documents through the night—and at a wedding, no less."

"There truly are many guests."

"Don't even mention it. There seem to be dozens of times more guests at my son's wedding than there were at mine. Still, I'm truly happy… When I first came to Falstead Castle, I thought no one would ever visit me again."

Though already exhausted from greeting each guest on the groom's side individually, Oswald did not lose his smile, thinking of how many had come to celebrate his son.

"I heard His Majesty was originally planning to attend as well?"

"That's right. It would have been an infinite honor if His Majesty had come personally, but it would also have been an immense burden. Still, to send a personally written congratulatory wreath… that too is an infinite honor."

King Philip III, who had bunsik delivered once a week via Owl, had written to ask if there was some way to congratulate Aston's marriage from afar.

Jinseo explained the Korean custom of sending floral wreaths, and Fedora Artran transcribed the explanation and sent it in a letter.

The result was the largest and most splendid wreath installed near the entrance.

"May blessings be upon the two of you. —Philip III."

The message itself was simple and without ornamentation, yet the fact that it had been sent directly by a King stirred envy among the guests.

"I wish I had known about this custom of sending congratulatory messages with flowers earlier. It was always awkward when acquaintances married far away and I could not attend."

"As it is a newly introduced custom, would it not take time to spread?"

"After today's wedding, it will likely spread quickly to other regions—just like the other customs you have introduced here, Jinseo. In fact, it has already spread. There are dozens of wreaths here."

The other wreaths placed beside the large one at the center had been sent by nobles of Colses, who, upon learning that Philip III would send one, hurriedly followed suit.

"Ah, ah, mic test, mic test."

Hayward, who had taken on the role of master of ceremonies, activated the microphone while seated in the passenger seat of the food truck.

"Attention, esteemed guests. Shortly, the wedding ceremony of Aston Hamilton and Miss Stella will commence. Guests attending the ceremony, please gather in the square before Kaysus Cathedral."

"Already starting?"

"What?"

When a voice suddenly answered from the sky, Hayward looked up in surprise.

Seeing only the roof of the food truck, he quickly stepped out of the passenger seat.

"It's me!"

"Ah… Lady Charlotte. Yes! The ceremony will begin shortly! Please be careful as you descend!"

Hayward waved toward Charlotte, who was hovering overhead.

Though she was a dragon of immense power, thanks to the food truck's bunsik she had become a familiar presence. Guests who already knew her waved back warmly.

However, guests seeing a dragon for the first time froze in place, trembling.

"Esteemed guests, this is Lady Charlotte, guardian dragon of the Doren Kingdom! There is absolutely no need to fear or be nervous!"

"Hey! I'm not a guardian dragon!"

"Oh, you only say that. If we were in danger, would you truly just stand by?"

"Well… that…."

At Hayward's playful teasing, Charlotte was momentarily at a loss for words.

"Lady Charlotte? Surely you would not truly remain an observer?"

"O-of course I would protect you. If you all disappeared, I wouldn't be able to eat bunsik anymore."

"You all heard her! As long as the food truck's bunsik exists, the Doren Kingdom protected by Lady Charlotte is safe! Please attend the wedding without worry! Ah, and today, the food truck will not be serving food. Its role today is not selling bunsik, but serving as the wedding car."

For the couple who wished to follow Korean wedding customs, Jinseo had transformed the food truck into a wedding car.

It had been repainted white, decorated with flowers grown in the greenhouse, and adorned with strings of balloons.

The additional trailer attached behind it was being used as the bridal waiting room for Stella and her friends.

"First, please watch the photos and video of today's stars—Aston Hamilton and Miss Stella. Ahem!"

Clearing his throat, Hayward set down the microphone.

An indispensable part of weddings was the studio shoot.

The photos and video from that shoot were displayed to the guests on a large television.

However, unlike in Korea, where the studio was a specific venue, here on the Francia Continent, the "studio" encompassed the entire Doren Kingdom.
