Chapter 188 - Chapter 188 Heading to 【Alexandria Community】

Shawn looked at Tallahassee through the rearview mirror.

He saw him let out a dry laugh, then quickly averted his gaze.

Given Shawn's previous combat performance, saying that seemed… not entirely unbelievable.

After all, Shawn was truly too fierce; with his ability, achieving these things wouldn't be difficult.

"Don't listen to this guy's nonsense. When you go to the Prison, you'll regret it…"

"You'll regret why you didn't arrive at the Prison sooner."

Shawn explained seriously, stating that the Prison's setup was top-notch for most survivors.

For instance, the two sisters, Vechita, didn't even qualify to join the Prison.

Tallahassee nodded, glancing at Merle.

"I understand. I just see him as a brainless gorilla who only knows how to peel and eat bananas. I won't believe his nonsense."

Upon hearing Tallahassee call him a 'brainless gorilla,' Merle immediately bared his teeth.

"Yeah, I only know how to peel and eat bananas. How about you come gargle for me?!"

Merle, instead, chuckled and made a biting motion towards Tallahassee, startling Tallahassee into covering his crotch, a look of shock on his face as he stared at him.

"Fuck, Merle, don't say you're my brother when we're out next time."

Daryl cursed, uncharacteristically embarrassed, turning his face to the side to look out the car window, truly unwilling to look at Merle again.

"Don't be like that, little brother. I'll gargle for you, won't I… Hey! Hey! Don't be like that, little brother!!"

Merle still wanted to make a dirty joke, but Daryl, with a dark expression, leaned over and punched him in the abdomen.

Suppressing the feeling of suffocation, Merle still managed to give a thumbs-up, looking at the still-angry Daryl.

"Good swing. That punch is much harder than when you were little."

Upon hearing Merle mention his childhood, 60% of Daryl's anger immediately dissipated.

Daryl glanced at Merle.

He felt that if he slapped him, he'd worry that the guy would stick out his tongue to lick his hand and then offer the other side of his face. Daryl simply couldn't be bothered with him anymore, letting him act like a jerk.

Seeing this, Tallahassee leaned back in his seat and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"But seriously, I really did come to Virginia when I was a kid, with my family back then."

"And now?"

To his surprise, Tallahassee acted as if he hadn't heard, turning his head to whistle.

The whistle was crisp and pleasant, always sounding like a very familiar tune, but he could never quite recall it.

However, as Tallahassee's whistling spread through the car, everyone felt an inexplicable sense of calm.

It seemed as if even the air carried the scent of the bedding on their old bed from childhood.

Perhaps the tune itself had no name; it was just Tallahassee's best answer to the inquiry, based on his own memories.

When everything happened, everyone lost something, didn't they?

Shawn let out a soft sigh, and following Tallahassee's intermittent whistling, he steadily drove the car towards Alexandria City.

There weren't many Walker disturbances along the way, and even on the road they were on, there were no abandoned vehicles piled up blocking the way.

It was as if they had a green light all the way, arriving near Alexandria City after only half a day of driving.

In Shawn's impression,

Alexandria was near Alexandria City, not particularly far from Washington D.C. further north.

This meant that once they crossed Alexandria City, they should basically be able to find the location of the Alexandria Community.

As dusk approached, Shawn decided to rest for the night and search for the Community's exact location the next morning.

Without entering the city, Shawn parked the fire truck in the suburbs, five kilometers from the city, found a detached villa, and took the three of them inside.

As usual, Daryl and the other two stayed inside the house, while Shawn slept directly in the back of the fire truck.

While watching the vehicle, he could also respond to any sudden crises that might arise.

Shawn slept until midnight, then felt fully refreshed and no longer sleepy.

He pulled a Switch that he had scavenged from a supermarket out of his system backpack and played single-player games for a while.

When one ran out of battery, he simply threw it back into the backpack and took out another, continuing until dawn. Only when he saw Daryl and the others emerge from the house did Shawn put away the game console.

"I have to say, the old version of Dynasty Warriors is pretty satisfying to hack and slash through."

Shawn sighed, pushing open the car door and greeting the three of them.

Everyone had slept well last night. For some reason, there were very few Walkers in this area, and since there were no survivor disturbances last night, they all slept soundly until dawn.

After a simple breakfast, Tallahassee drove the car, heading straight from the side of the city towards the rear of Alexandria City.

On the way, he licked his teeth with his tongue, not missing a single piece of meat fiber.

"Honestly, this is my first time eating raw meat. Do you guys do this often?"

Originally, everyone only planned to eat some food brought from the supermarket, but then a prey animal wandered into Daryl's sight, and Daryl had no choice but to raise his crossbow.

"Before, we just ate whatever we could find. It was already good enough to find food and survive."

Daryl glanced at him and replied.

Tallahassee's words made Daryl recall the time at the Quarry Camp before Shawn arrived.

Back then, food sources were extremely unstable, and prey near the Quarry became scarcer and scarcer. They often had to plan food allocations, which seemed quite tight.

But thankfully, Rick met Shawn, who had been stunned, in Atlanta, and everything changed from then on.

Although he and Merle had drifted with Shawn all along, they never lacked food from beginning to end.

Going to the Farm was even better; the natural resources there were abundant. As soon as he took over from Oscar and Jimmy, he had a lot of harvests every day.

At that time, supplies weren't abundant, and there wasn't a large supermarket full of goods waiting for him to choose from.

But it must be said, that time was truly good—

Every day, he only needed to find food and protect the Camp's safety; there was no need to worry about other things.

Daryl sighed, then heard Shawn speak to Tallahassee.

"Go through the city, and head towards the distant suburbs in that direction."

"The scale of that Community shouldn't be small; you'll see it at a glance once you get close."

Shawn opened his map while guiding Tallahassee.

According to the timeline, the Alexandria Community should still be perfecting its high walls at this time.

The high walls of the Alexandria Community were different from the Prison's; they were made of steel plates and metal pillars, propping up the high walls from the inside for defense.

Under strong sunlight, it might even be visible from afar.
