Chapter 269 - Chapter 269 Cannibals?

Shane was a bit strange.

If there was a Walker horde at the door, with his temper, he would have led the army to clear them out himself.

If he had encountered something more urgent, he should have appeared more anxious.

Shane came into view, wearing a thin military-green cardigan shirt on his upper body, dark yellow-green trousers, and tactical boots on his lower body.

A rifle was slung on his back, its muzzle pointing towards the ground.

He also had a pistol on his waist, and his whole demeanor carried a hint of murderous intent.

Hearing Shawn's question, he first adjusted the strap of his automatic rifle, looked around, and only after confirming no one was close by did he lower his voice and speak.

"I think you should come see this."

After speaking, Shane led Shawn back into the Prison cell.

Shane took a winding path, and the further Shawn went, the more familiar the way became.

It wasn't until they stopped in front of a pair of double doors that Shawn realized why he felt a sense of familiarity.

"The Cafeteria?"

The last time they were here, it was also Shawn and Shane together.

Shane nodded silently, gave Shawn a look, and then pushed the doors open.

Upon entering, Shawn saw several figures.

They were like the original five-person group in the Cafeteria, clinging to the inner railing of the Cafeteria, with the only entrance/exit door bound by chains.

When Shawn and Shane entered, they abandoned the idea of breaking the chains to escape and took their hands off the chains.

They seemed a bit nervous, looking at Shawn from his toes to his head.

Their eyes were fixed, and they even couldn't help but swallow a mouthful of saliva and lick their lips.

Just seeing this scene, Shane's expression instantly darkened.

He pulled out a retractable baton from somewhere, took three steps in two, and swung the baton, smashing it hard against the iron railing!

Hearing the loud crash of the blunt object, they finally came to their senses, retreating repeatedly, and even their eyes became much clearer.

"What's going on?" Shawn frowned.

Shane put away his baton and stepped back.

"Remember those guys we were chasing the day you first came back?"

"These are them."

Upon hearing Shane say this, Shawn suddenly understood.

It seemed there was such an incident, but he had too many things to deal with after returning, so these less important details had been overlooked by him.

"I don't think I've asked you yet, what did they do back then that made you chase them all the way?"

As soon as Shawn asked for details, Shane's imposing manner dropped by three points.

"Actually, this is my problem."

Then Shane recounted the entire incident from beginning to end, and Shawn gradually understood after listening.

"They were also among the survivors you took in back then, but you later discovered something was wrong with them, and they sensed it, so they escaped during the watchtower shift change?"

Shawn interrupted Shane: "Wait, tell me first what was wrong with them."

Shane pursed his lips.

"I suspect that before they were brought back to the Prison, they ate some things they shouldn't have outside."

"Such as?"

"Eating people!"

Shane's words were like a brass gong striking Shawn's heart, making Shawn suddenly recall a group of people.

Yes, that group of people also lived in Georgia.

Shawn didn't interrupt but waited for Shane to continue.

Shane glanced at the several people who had been watching them, then took two steps back with Shawn.

"They lived outside for so long, but they weren't interested in the food we gave them at all."

"When everyone else was rushing to eat, they would just stare at the people eating and swallow their saliva."

"At first, I thought they were a bit reserved, unwilling to accept food given by others."

"But after observing for a few days, I realized they weren't salivating over the food, but over our people."

"Shawn, they are a Cannibal Tribe!"

Shane's face was serious; this was his old habit.

Whenever he thought something might threaten the Camp's safety, he couldn't help but want to destroy it completely.

It was like that before, and it's still like that now.

However, after the trouble with Lori was resolved, he became much more rational.

"A Cannibal Tribe?"

Shawn briefly scrutinized these individuals, but he didn't see any familiar faces he remembered.

As he approached, the breathing of the people confined inside indeed quickened slightly.

They pressed their faces close to the iron bars of the window, their throats subtly bobbing up and down.

Shawn tried to extend his finger towards them; as soon as his finger crossed the iron bar, one person eagerly opened their mouth to bite.

It was about to clamp down on Shawn's finger bone, severing his finger.

But Shawn, instead of retreating, advanced, his finger suddenly hooking onto one of his lower teeth, and with a sudden force, he pulled his head forward.

Clang--!!

Snap--!

Beneath the sound of the skull colliding with the railing, another crisp sound was muffled.

The person let out a cry of pain; when Shawn withdrew his hand, his lower jaw was dislocated, grotesquely wide open, and saliva flowed uncontrollably.

"Their faces are even more hateful than a Walker."

Shawn sneered, completely confirming Shane's words.

Shawn turned back and exchanged glances with Shane, who shook his head slightly.

"It's better if the people in the Camp don't know."

"This is a management error; if they knew they once slept in the same place as a Cannibal Tribe, it would be troublesome."

Shawn looked at them up close, completely unafraid.

He just silently pondered why the Cannibal Tribe would appear here?

Speaking of Georgia, the only Cannibal Tribe Shawn could think of was one group—The Terminus!

The Terminus is not close to the Prison; why would their people appear here and even hide their identities to join the Prison?

After much thought, Shawn could only come up with one reason.

Upon realizing it, Shawn's expression was not very good.

Asking Shane for the keys, Shawn released this group of people and gave them all a good beating.

"Damn it, I was careless!"

"I only left for a month, and I didn't expect we were almost ambushed!"

"You like to eat! Come and eat my big baby!"

Shawn felt a surge of anger, but in the end, Shane quickly stopped him, preventing Shawn from beating these people to death.

Shane looked at Shawn with some helplessness.

Normally, he was the one who got carried away, and others would stop him.

But when he was with Shawn, he had to constantly watch him, fearing that Shawn might get carried away and beat someone to death.

It seemed that Shawn's bloodthirsty scene, even when facing a horde of Walkers, still opening the door to fight them up close, was still deeply ingrained in people's minds…

"Alright, I've vented enough."

Hearing this, Shane quickly released Shawn.

Shawn ran his hands through his somewhat disheveled hair, tidying it up slightly.

"Everyone is a civilized person, how could they just kill someone at the drop of a hat?"

He didn't intend to kill these people directly, otherwise, one punch would have been enough to make them drop dead.

So what Shawn did just now was actually 'verbal combat'… oh no, it was 'verbal beating'.

The real deal hadn't even started yet.

Shawn leaned slightly, placed his foot on the chest of the man lying on the ground spitting blood, rested his left hand on his knee, and looked down at him coldly, a smile playing on his lips.

"Now, I ask, you answer."
