Chapter 40 - The Grey Zones

​The Icarus-01 had been the spark, but the fire it lit was chaotic. Across Manhattan, the "Great Manifestation" had left reality in a state of Flicker. One block would be a vibrant 2026 street, and the next would be a silent, sepia-toned memory of 1912.

​"The layers aren't just overlapping; they're bleeding," Caius observed, his holographic hands trembling as he tried to stabilize the Museum's threshold. "The Overseers' Red Grid is acting like a press, crushing the Physical and the Unseen together. If we don't find a way to stabilize these 'Grey Zones,' the atoms themselves will start to reject each other."

​Adriana stood on the steps of the Museum. Below her, 5th Avenue was a sea of people—modern commuters and "Returned" souls from a dozen different decades—all huddled together in fear.

​"We need more than just a ship," Adriana said. "We need a Government of the Lost."
