Chapter 148 - Chapter 148 Aren’t you Slytherins always like this?

"Realization…" Harry murmured, "I… I guess I… sorry, I don't understand."

Howl smiled indifferently, took out the wooden stick again, and placed it on the now solid tabletop.

With just the end inserted, it stood firmly in place, much taller than the other sticks.

This was the proper appearance for a high-level spell.

"The so-called realization is a state of mind where, for a certain matter or object, one is willing to pay any price, even one's life.

Although all of us avoid death, as we grow older, we will slowly discover that some things are actually more terrifying than death!"

"This…"

"A mother who wants to protect her child, a warrior who is willing to die for their beliefs, a hero who embarks on a journey to save others!

This is the realization of being willing to pay any price, even one's life.

Realization is the cornerstone of one of the three elements of spellcasting—Desire!!"

"Is that so?" Harry muttered to himself, feeling as if he understood and yet didn't.

"Actually, it's somewhat related to that question you thought about last year," Howl reminded him slightly.

"It's the question you asked last year, about what you want to do in the future.

Whether it's your dream or your realization of being willing to sacrifice your life for something, only you can figure it out; no one can help you," Howl said.

"So that's how it is." Harry breathed a sigh of relief; he had initially thought he might have taken the wrong path.

Fortunately, he hadn't.

"Isn't there some little trick?"

*Smack*—

No sooner had he spoken than he felt a slap on his head.

Howl looked at him with a half-smile: "When a person entertains such thoughts without suppressing them, it means they are not far from being lured into the abyss by the Dark Arts."

Harry quickly sat up straight, his hair standing on end: "I know, I just… well… okay, I might have been too hasty, sorry, Uncle Howl."

"Do you know what the shortest shortcut in this world is?" Howl looked at him, restoring the tabletop to its original state.

"I don't know…" Harry shook his head.

"The shortest shortcut is to take one step as two," Howl said slowly.

"Doesn't that make it longer?"

"But only this way can one keep going further.

Since you haven't found your direction yet, there's no need to cling to advanced spells; it's better to go back to what you've learned and solidify your foundation!"

As he spoke, Howl demonstrated building blocks again, stacking small blocks precariously, but they would wobble and fall after not getting very high.

Then the blocks were restacked, but this time, in a pyramid structure.

A solid foundation represents a stable superstructure…

A metaphor even a child could understand…

After Harry left, Howl rested for a moment before getting up again. He descended the stairs inside the office to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

The corridor diagonally opposite the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom was where Madam Norris was petrified, and across from that was Myrtle's domain, an old, sewage-filled toilet that had long been abandoned.

Howl walked slowly, then arrived at the toilet.
