Chapter 7 - Stronger Together

Slowly Arthur raised his gun at the creature before him. His hands shook uncontrollably, as he stared into the seven eyes of the rat-like creatures before him.

As large as a standard car, they possessed metallic tails and claws capable of slicing through iron like butter. An awful stench hung around them akin to someone who just came out of a septic tank.

To Arthur what made them truly horrifying was the boils their pale skinless bodies constantly produced. The boils popped as constantly and released a yellowish.

' So that is what's making them smell so badly, and they also seem blind.' while he stood still, the creatures raised their snouts as if sniffing for something, then they let out deafening shrieks.

' If they don't hear they would be able to hear clearly, so my best chances are to fly over them.' Overcoming his dread, he slowly lifted himself above the ground.

As if waiting for his muscles to twitch, the rat mutations lunged at him with terrifying speeds. They were fast, but with telekinetic mobility he was able to shoot himself meters higher and use up five points instantly.

Dismissing the warning, he made to fly straight towards the hall but something else caught his attention. ' A function unlocked?' He asked himself staring at the system screen.

' An instant level up would fill my mana pool while expanding it. The more mana I possess, the higher the chance I make it to the hall.'

Overcomed by the want for both power and survival, Arthur turned to the monsters below him and opened fire. The first round on his gun finished and not a single mole had died.

Arthur observed the mobsters and his eyes widened. ' Bullets don't have effects on them.' The creatures were bleeding but their injuries could only be compared to scratches.

He reloaded his gun and flew lower before spraying a second round on them. It was now he noticed, his aim was incredibly off, if he couldn't hit it from this distance what then would he hit from a higher position.

Not only that but the bodies of the rodents were mostly fat and thick muscle.

[ Fatigue : 20% ]

A thought bloomed in him to turn back and abandon the mission, but his greed kept him. ' I will just have to apply my telekinesis on the bullets, hopefully that wouldn't cost me to much mana.'

Zipping his bag open he took the next round of 9mm ammunition and reloaded the pistol. This time instead to trying to bit all three creatures at once, he focused on the most bleeding flying, erratically around it.

Most of his shots where getting blocked by the creatures metallic tails so Arthur had to opt for a better strategy. He stopped reducing the weigh of the bags around him and focused on something else.

Steadily Arthur watched as he wasted three whole rounds of ammunition and yet no creature was killed. Reloading for the four time, frustration was already setting in.

Canceling his flight four meters high, he dropped painfully to his knees and immediately to aim. Now he was on the ground the creatures didn't have to shriek in annoyance anymore.

They could just attack him directly; that is what they did. Arthur released the first shot, his concentration on nothing but the 9mm bullet being released from the guns nozzle.

' Gone.' His mental influence didn't meet the bullet in time and it flew inches past the closest rodent. He shot the second and the same thing occured, ' Would I get to shot the third.'

Before he could think of pressing the trigger, the tail of the closest rodent shot towards him. Mere moments before he could get seriously hurt, he jumped, escaping with a gash to the side.

Arthur winced in pain as he rolled to his feet, he shot two more times and his bullet penetrated it's blubbery skin easily. ' Focus Arthur, focus.'

The other two rodents closer it; raining a barrage of attacks. Unable to dodge quickly enough, injuries were mounting quickly. However he didn't mind them, most of his attention was on the gun in his hand.

Rasing his had to shoot, the claws of a Pale Eyed Mole tore his right forearm and sent the gun flying. Arthur screamed holding his arm in pain. The monsters themselves didn't care about his pain and tired to attack him.

From no where, metal sheets and concrete slabs rose before Arthur stopping the attacks. With enough time he dashed towards his gun, slide on his knees to get to it faster.

When he picked the gun, he dropped the defensive cover he used to block the rodents and fired relentlessly. ' Die bitches.' The bullets flew faster, following Arthur's thoughts to strike them directly in the center eye.

Bursts of blood and grey matter erupted from the heads of the rodents. With pained shrieks they fell unmoving, nevertheless Arthur was focused on something else.

While he read his notifications, the growls of zombies surrounded him. From fallen buildings, crevices on the ground and distance which hid them, they emerged in quantities.

Not only zombies but multiple Pale Eyed Moles. With a liable way to kill them he didn't have to be so worried.

Picking up his bags he stared at his gun and smiled darkly. Observing the encroaching creatures, he reloaded his gun. ' This would be the best time to use my stat points. Each level up gives me two, so I should have around seven in general.'

' Add four stats to Mental Fortitude, three to strength and two to speed.'

Confused about his miscalculation for a moment, he was overwhelmed by an internal heating within him. He felt his mind get stronger, his bones and muscles harden and evolve instantly.

' Let's do this.' Dashing at empowered speeds towards the hall, he released a hail of bullets and blood flowed like a river. Now he was able to easily control the movement of the bullets, only death was paramount.

One after the other bodies fell, then he met the monsters. Easily he dodged their lethal tails and shot straight into their blind center eyes. As moments passed Arthur was slowly turning into an unstoppable force.

He kept his gun back into his bag and utilized Environmental weaponization, he formed concrete spikes using force. And controlled them efficiently.

Waving his hands he was able to visualize where he was directing the spikes to. However as he got closer to his destination, his kill count increased closely with his fatigue.

Arthur had full submerged himself in the goal of killing everything in sight, he left himself open to attacks he couldn't notice.

Unable to see it till it was several inches away from him, a pressurized water jet saved him at the nick of time. He stopped his wild run and looked at the rolling rock which former destination was his heart.

" Those things are dangerous, I watched someone die brutally to them once." A voice said besides him. He looked over to the direction of the voice.

He found seven shadowy silhouettes of his classmates looking back at him from the roof of a dilapidated building.
