Cherreads

Chapter 12 - Namekian Path: Part 1.

The stars were calm, but the silence of space did little to soothe Vegeta's restless mind.

Broly floated beside him, his massive frame seemingly serene—but Vegeta knew better. Every fiber of the Legendary Saiyan screamed for release, and even now, Broly's ki wanted to flare like a supernova.

"Broly," Vegeta said, his tone clipped but commanding, "if we want to truly surpass everyone—even Frieza in his Golden form—we can't just fight. We need control."

Broly grunted, flexing his fists, tiny sparks of green energy flickering around him despite his suppressed aura. Vegeta smirked slightly.

"It's time you learn restraint," he said. "The key isn't raw power. It's when, where, and how to use it."

For days, they meditated on a desolate asteroid, floating in silence.

Broly struggled the most. His rage refused to stay contained, threatening to blow the entire asteroid apart.

"Focus! If you can't control it, you'll destroy yourself before you reach true power!" Vegeta barked.

Broly's eyes glowed faintly green as he clenched his fists. Slowly, painfully, his ki began to settle like a storm contained beneath a dome, each heartbeat a measured pulse instead of a raging hurricane.

Finally, Broly let out a controlled breath, and the faintest smile crossed Vegeta's face.

"Good. Now we can move," he said.

Vegeta's gaze turned distant, toward the familiar blue and green of distant planets.

"There's someone we need," he muttered. "A Namekian named Piccolo. He can lead us to the Dragon Balls… and more importantly, to the elders who understand true power beyond limits."

Broly's curiosity was almost childlike. "Dragon Balls… elders? Will they make me stronger?"

Vegeta smirked, "Stronger… smarter. Strong enough to face anyone without losing control. You want to survive your own power, don't you?"

The space pod shuddered violently. Sparks flew from panels that had long ago been patched with scraps of alien technology and sheer Saiyan ingenuity.

Vegeta gritted his teeth, pressing his palms against the controls. "Please… just function one more time," he muttered under his breath, a rare glimpse of desperation in his eyes.

Broly sat stiffly, muscles tensed, sensing the pod's instability. Every jolt threatened to awaken the uncontrolled power simmering within him.

"Vegeta… it's… breaking…" Broly's voice was low, almost fearful.

"Don't worry," Vegeta snapped, his tone sharp but steady. "I learned a trick when we first crashed on this planet: Just hold on."

Vegeta's fingers danced over the pod's ancient console, pulling up sequences from memory. He bypassed damaged circuits, rerouted power, and activated a procedure: the Commander Process.

A hum filled the pod as dormant systems flickered to life. Lights blinked erratically, but the engines roared, and the pod stabilized—just barely.

Broly let out a low, cautious sigh. "Vegeta… it's… moving."

"Of course it's moving," Vegeta said, smirking despite the tension. "You think I'd let a rusted hunk of metal stop us from reaching Namek?"

Into the Void

The pod lurched, and stars streaked past as they shot through space at incredible speed. Broly struggled to remain seated, his ki threatening to flare with every jolt, but Vegeta's earlier training in suppression kept him contained.

Vegeta's mind was already racing. Everything depended on the elders now—on Piccolo guiding them safely, on the Dragon Balls revealing their secrets, and on the fragile pod surviving the journey.

They passed asteroid belts, nebulae, and pockets of cosmic radiation. Each obstacle made the pod groan in protest, metal screeching under stress. Broly's massive fists clenched the seat, but he didn't break control—his respect for Vegeta's calm determination holding him in check.

The Destination: Namek

Finally, the green-and-blue planet appeared on the horizon. Its peaceful, serene surface was a stark contrast to the chaos of the cosmos they had just survived. Vegeta's eyes narrowed as he peered at it.

"Almost there," he muttered. "Once we land, we find the elders… and we break our limits."

Broly's suppressed energy pulsed faintly, like a caged storm. He let out a deep breath. "Namek… I feel… power here."

"Yes," Vegeta replied, a hint of pride in his voice. "Power, we're ready to control. Not just rage… not just strength… but true Saiyan potential."

The pod shuddered one last time, sparks flying from the engines. Vegeta pressed a final sequence, the ship's systems locking onto the planet.

And with a final puff, the pod broke through Namek's atmosphere, descending toward a world that would either make them legends… or destroy them entirely.

The pod shuddered as it touched down on Namek's surface. Vegeta's sharp eyes scanned the horizon, every muscle coiled, every nerve alert.

Broly sat beside him, suppressed ki thrumming faintly around him like a caged storm. The air was heavy with the scent of smoke, scorched earth, and… something darker.

Vegeta's hand instinctively went to his scouter, but it was useless—all the energy readings were erratic, chaotic, like the planet itself was dying.

Then, faintly at first, came the sounds.

Screams. Cries of agony.

Broly's green eyes widened. "Vegeta… people…" His voice trembled.

Vegeta didn't reply. He had already leapt from the pod, Broly following close behind. Both kept their power fully suppressed, knowing that even the faintest flare could bring catastrophe—or reveal their presence to whoever—or whatever—was causing this.

The landscape unfolded before them like a nightmare. Mountains had been shattered, rivers boiled dry, and villages were nothing but smoking rubble. Fires burned along the horizon.

Vegeta's jaw clenched. "This… is… unacceptable," he growled. His suppressed aura vibrated faintly, like a volcano holding back a storm.

Broly's massive fists clenched at his sides, small tremors rolling across the scorched ground. He could feel the lingering ki of death and suffering. Rage pressed at the edge of his mind, but Vegeta's voice, low and commanding, kept him in check:

"Suppress it! Now is not the time to lose control! We need to know what happened before we blow everything up."

The screams grew louder as they approached what remained of a settlement. Broken Namekians crawled through the debris, some barely conscious, others screaming in fear.

Vegeta scanned the ruins. There was no natural disaster here. This was war, and whatever force had struck had overwhelmed the planet in a single, devastating sweep.

Broly's suppressed energy pulsed instinctively, responding to the anguish around him. He could feel the sorrow, the pain, the terror—and it made the storm inside him roar quietly, impatiently.

Vegeta knelt beside a broken Namekian elder, barely clinging to life. "What… what happened here?" he demanded.

The elder croaked, voice weak and rasping: "Fr… Frieza… his soldiers… they… killed… everyone…"

Vegeta's eyes narrowed, veins of restrained fury appearing across his forehead. Broly's green aura flickered faintly, the rage clawing at the surface—

"Frieza…" Vegeta spat the name like poison. "This planet… these people… their suffering ends now."

Broly growled low in his chest, fists vibrating with restrained energy. "They… must pay," he muttered.

Vegeta's hand shot up, gripping Broly's shoulder. "Not yet. We will not lose control. If we go full power now, we'll destroy the planet completely. We do this smart… we gather information, find survivors… and we prepare.

The wind carried the cries across the ruined hills, and Vegeta looked to Broly, voice firm: "This is why we train. This… this is why we surpass everything. Not just to fight. To protect. And to help those who cannot protect themselves."

Broly's green eyes glinted, suppressed ki humming faintly like a coiled spring. "Vegeta… I understand."

Vegeta nodded. "Good. Now… let's see what Namek has left for us to save—and what Frieza has left for us to destroy."

The two Saiyans stepped forward into the desolate, smoking landscape, suppressing their immense power, their senses attuned to every sound, every tremor. The planet may have been ruined, but it was far from over.
