The morning of the great family picnic dawned bright and warm, the sun painting the sky in shades of gold and rose. The village of Thousand Fang buzzed with an energy that could only mean one thing: chaos was coming.
And chaos, as always, arrived in the form of Yòu Lín.
"IS EVERYONE READY?!" he shrieked, darting between huts like an orange blur. "WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE! THE SUN IS ALREADY UP! THE FOOD WILL GET COLD! THE BEST SPOT WILL BE TAKEN!"
"Yòu Lín," Bai Yue called from her hut, "the sun has been up for exactly ten minutes. We're not late."
"WE'RE LATE IN MY HEART!"
Ruì Xuě appeared beside his brother, his arms full of woven blankets. His purple eyes were patient, his expression calm. "The spot by the river will still be there, Yòu Lín. It's not going anywhere."
"It could! The river could change course! A tree could fall! A dragon could land on it!"
