Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Judgment of the King

The HR office was a small, windowless room that felt more like an interrogation chamber. Myra sat in a hard plastic chair, her fingers digging into the hem of her dress. The black lace panties were gone—Sarah had kept them as "evidence"—but the shame felt like a physical weight on her chest.

Across from her sat Mrs. Iyer, the stern head of HR. And in the corner, leaning against the door like a shadow, was Reyansh.

He hadn't said a word since she entered. He looked impeccable, his suit crisp, his expression as cold as a mountain peak. He looked at her not as a lover, but as a problem to be solved.

"Miss Kapoor," Mrs. Iyer began, her glasses perched on the edge of her nose. "A very... disturbing piece of evidence was found in the design studio this morning. Along with reports of 'disturbing noises' from the night security guard."

Myra's breath hitched. "I was working, Mrs. Iyer. I had a deadline."

"Working?" Mrs. Iyer placed a photo of the black lace on the table. "Does 'work' usually involve the removal of your undergarments on company property? This is a direct violation of the code of conduct. It's scandalous. It's unprofessional. And frankly, it's grounds for immediate termination."

Myra looked at Reyansh, her eyes pleading. Say something. Tell her you were there. Tell her it's okay.

Reyansh shifted his weight, his eyes finally meeting hers. There was no warmth in them. "The firm has a reputation to uphold, Miss Kapoor," he said, his voice a smooth, terrifying baritone. "We are on the verge of a multi-billion dollar merger with the Singhanias. We cannot have 'office trysts' leaking to the press."

"It wasn't a tryst!" Myra burst out, her voice cracking. "I... I have a boyfriend. He came to bring me dinner. We got carried away. It won't happen again."

The air in the room turned sub-zero. Reyansh's jaw tightened so hard Myra heard his teeth grind. The lie was supposed to protect him, but seeing the flash of pure, primal jealousy in his eyes made her realize she had just stepped into a different kind of trap.

"A boyfriend?" Reyansh asked, stepping forward into the light. He loomed over the table, his presence suffocating. "Who is this man? Does he work here? Does he have a name?"

"He's... he's from Delhi," Myra lied, her heart hammering. "He's visiting. It's private."

"Private," Reyansh repeated, the word sounding like a curse. He turned to Mrs. Iyer. "Since Miss Kapoor is a key asset to the Seafront project, we won't fire her. Not yet. However, such 'private' behavior requires a penalty."

He looked back at Myra, a dark, sadistic glint in his eyes. "For the next month, Miss Kapoor will be under my direct supervision. She will move her desk into the executive suite where I can... monitor her hours. And her 'visitor' is strictly banned from the premises."

Mrs. Iyer nodded, impressed by his "firmness." "A wise decision, Mr. Khurana."

"Dismissed," Reyansh snapped.

Myra scrambled out of the room, but as she passed him, Reyansh grabbed her arm. His grip was like iron. He leaned down, his voice a low, dangerous snarl meant only for her.

"A boyfriend from Delhi, Myra? You'd better hope I never meet this 'man.' Because if I find out you're letting anyone else touch what belongs to me, a 'penalty' will be the least of your worries."
