Chapter 24: The Mad Scientist Who Saves the World
Fortunately, the spectating martial artists all possessed decent Purity, so they weren't blasted into oblivion by the shockwaves. As they crawled out of the ruins and looked toward Ichigo Kurosaki, although they couldn't understand the inexplicable rage and resentment within his heart, they still cheered loudly.
Among the cheering fighters, Sosuke Aizen's gaze was unreadable.
While he couldn't grasp the true purpose behind this fighting tournament, the fact that Ichigo had caused such a massive scene—unleashing supernatural power in the World of the Living without restraint—showed a complete disregard for the Soul Society. One must remember that after the Nobles split the Three Worlds, they never truly let go. Their eyes were always watching, whether it was the human world or Hueco Mundo.
Calculating as ever, Aizen quickly predicted the Soul Society's reaction. Central 46, the organ of the Nobles' authority, would soon declare Ichigo a criminal and order the Gotei 13 to arrest him.
The charge?
Being a Quincy was enough. And as a Quincy, possessing powers akin to a Hollow was a sin upon a sin.
In fact, Central 46 wouldn't even need to issue a decree. In the eyes of a normal Soul Reaper, the traces of Hollow power on Ichigo made him a loathsome monster. Ancient karma was buried in the dust, but the blood debts between Soul Reapers and Hollows were too numerous to count. No Soul Reaper would ever like a Hollow.
After weighing these factors, Aizen turned slightly to look at Byakuya Kuchiki. Byakuya's expression was solemn to the point of grimness, lost in thought. Suddenly, Kyoka Suigetsu—the peerless illusion-type Zanpakuto—appeared silently in Aizen's hand.
The Kuchiki family was hailed as the "model" of the Soul Society's nobility. Though this title wasn't necessarily a compliment, Captain Byakuya's style was historically cold and rigid. If he intended to strike at Ichigo now, Aizen was prepared to intervene.
It did not suit Aizen's interests or expectations for Ichigo to be captured by Byakuya at this stage.
"Captain Kuchiki, what are your thoughts?"
Aizen approached Byakuya with a warm smile. Even though he held his Zanpakuto, no one around them reacted. Even Byakuya failed to sense the approaching cold edge.
As an illusion-type Zanpakuto, Kyoka Suigetsu possessed the power of Complete Hypnosis, capable of manipulating all five senses. In Aizen's hands, its use was nothing short of divine. It might never be the "strongest" blade in terms of raw power, but it was undoubtedly the most dangerous. Even if it pierced a body, the victim wouldn't notice—they might not even realize they were dead until their final breath.
To Aizen's surprise, however, Byakuya seemed to be spacing out. It took several calls for him to snap back to reality. Byakuya looked at the center of the crater again, his expression complex.
"I think... I may have fallen under an illusion. Let us leave for now. We shall decide Ichigo Kurosaki's fate after reporting back to the Soul Society!"
Aizen was startled. He didn't know why the usually stern Byakuya was reacting so "interestingly," but it suited his plans perfectly.
At that moment, the majestic holy voice from beyond the heavens descended once more:
"Let us cheer! Let us celebrate! The martial artist with the highest Purity and strength in Karakura Town has finally been born today under the gaze of millions! His name is... The Strongest Creature on Earth, ICHIGO KUROSAKI!!!"
The surrounding cheers grew more frenetic. Aizen looked up at the empty sky, his eyes flickering with an unreadable light. He said nothing and did nothing; he merely stowed Kyoka Suigetsu with his unchanging gentle smile and turned to leave with Byakuya.
Through his computer screen, Mo Yu—who was monitoring the Bleach world—stumbled upon these two unexpected visitors while switching perspectives.
"Whoa, did I wake up too fast? I'm actually seeing the King of Trash-Talk in Karakura Town!"
Mo Yu immediately split off two more views and locked them onto Aizen and Byakuya, falling into deep thought.
In the original work, Byakuya would appear with his Lieutenant, Renji, to take Rukia away, triggering the Soul Society arc. Mo Yu was psychologically prepared for Byakuya's arrival, but Aizen showing up alongside him was a bit outside his expectations.
Knowing that people and events in the World Bubble could deviate based on the impressions of material-world viewers, Mo Yu was most wary of Aizen.
To call Aizen the number one villain in anime history might be an exaggeration, but with his iconic dialogue and "coolness," he was easily top ten. Bleach was one of the "Big Three" shonen series; its standout characters naturally possessed massive popularity buffs.
Aizen's "coolness factor" was top-tier in both the early and late stages of the series. Later, his popularity was so high that Tite Kubo brought the sealed Aizen back in the final war arc just to boost the series' sagging ratings. Aizen ended up carrying his sealed chair all the way to the finale, using "Hypnosis App" level powers to make the big bad Yhwach fall into a trap, allowing Ichigo to finish him off with a basic attack.
The "Fake Savior" was Ichigo, who spent the whole time grinding levels; the "True Savior" was Aizen, who saved the series' popularity and took the MVP for damage and support in the final fight.
Calculating based on his popularity in the 3D world, Mo Yu wouldn't be surprised if this version of Aizen could punch the Soul King and kick Yhwach.
However, currently, Aizen was still in his "disguise phase," before he used his legendary "Hair Gel Hand" to unseal his true appearance and charisma. Mo Yu watched him for a while but couldn't see anything special. He had to admit the disguise was perfect—the warm, gentle smile was a permanent buff that made him look like a mild-mannered nice guy rather than a cold-blooded mastermind.
While the arrival of the captains signaled new storms brewing, Mo Yu had more pressing matters. He had to put aside the Soul Society guests for now.
He had enough raw footage. He needed to edit the first episode of The Legend of the Strongest Academy Security Guard.
After downloading some professional editing software, Mo Yu recalled the screenwriting tips he had learned and threw himself into the work.
In the film industry, a screenwriter's job isn't just to write a plot summary or an outline. The true essence is the "sense of imagery" constructed through words. For example: Scene 1: On a ship, the CEO male lead leans against the railing overlooking the sea. Sunset glow. He wears an expensive suit, expression melancholy (camera holds for several seconds). A seagull flies by. He checks his expensive watch. Suddenly, the Mermaid female lead leaps from the water...
Mo Yu admitted his homework assignments for his online classes were a bit "subtle," but the principle held: a good script provides imagery.
Screenwriting is a high-skill role. Before a project has a frame, the writer must have the whole story in their head. Ideally, it's one of the most vital roles in a crew. In reality? Unless you're a superstar writer, the investors and actors change the script however they want. And some directors just draw their own storyboards on a napkin that look better than a manga. The script? It's just a stack of toilet paper the director uses to scam investors.
Having once dreamed of a career change only to be crushed by industry reality, Mo Yu stuck to his web novels. But those old studies now paid off. As he edited the footage, he had clear images in his mind and knew exactly what effect each cut should achieve.
The editing was complex: dubbing, subtitles, color correction, and post-processing. Mo Yu was pleased to find that his computer—now the "Carrier of Heaven"—handled multiple professional programs without a hint of lag. His memory should have hit its limit, but it didn't.
When he checked the PC specs, he found a string of question marks. The network data was even weirder; the IP and gateway were garbled code. When Mo Yu pulled the ethernet cable and found the computer still connected to the internet, he realized the PC was now more of a "God" than he was.
The little infant angels in the computer's Heaven also provided a surprise. Though simple-minded, they were enthusiastic. After a few lessons, they stopped making mistakes, allowing Mo Yu to outsource the tedious detail work to them.
With the entire staff of Heaven Media—from CEO Mo Yu down to the base-level angel laborers—working overtime, the first episode was finally finished.
Mo Yu decided to upload it to Bilibili (B-Site). Platforms like iQIYI or Tencent were full of corporate giants where a newcomer would be buried, but B-Site had a younger ecosystem and high organic traffic—a perfect starting point.
Mo Yu created an account called [Heaven Studios] and uploaded the first episode in three parts (Top, Middle, Bottom).
Exhausted but satisfied, he told the angels to keep an eye on the Bleach World Bubble and wake him with loud music if anything happened. Then, he went to sleep.
In his deep sleep, a bizarre dream emerged.
Mo Yu was God, sitting on the highest throne of the Mountain of Heaven, overlooked by billions of praising angels. He enjoyed the supreme glory of being the one who "Was, Is, and Is to Come."
But he felt no joy. Only a bone-deep terror.
From an unknown time and source, a surge—more hollow than darkness, deeper than hell—was spreading through the Silver Sea. Everything it touched vanished silently, as if it had never existed.
Mo Yu watched as the "surge" approached step-by-step. Finally, it struck!
Heaven emptied its ranks, gambling everything to fight the inexplicable surge. In a war of blood and fire that felt like eons yet passed in an instant, billions of angels lost their wings. Heaven fell.
Even the Supreme Lord lost His glory...
Only a sharp, metallic screeching, like the clashing of blades, remained, echoing over and over.
Mo Yu snapped awake. The dream left him shaken. Before he could process it, a piercing alarm blared from his speakers.
He rushed to the computer and checked the Bleach World Bubble. The little angels scrambled to report the situation with pens and paper. Mo Yu panned the camera to the edge of Karakura Town.
The edge of the city was strange: one side featured streets and buildings, separated by an invisible boundary from a void of nothingness on the other. Mo Yu had two theories: one, that the World Bubble only modeled Karakura Town; two, that his perspective was limited to Ichigo's active area.
But what he saw now pointed to a third possibility.
Right before Mo Yu's eyes, a street near the void boundary suddenly collapsed and was swallowed by the void. It was a glitchy, eerie change. A pedestrian was caught in it; half his body vanished into the void, but he continued walking toward the city center with half a head and one limb, his posture as normal as if his model hadn't just bugged out.
The other pedestrians ignored it. As the man walked, his remaining body dissolved into dust and vanished completely.
In that short moment, the area of Karakura Town—and the World Bubble itself—had permanently shrunk. It was a tiny amount, but an omen of disaster.
Mo Yu swept the camera across the endless chaotic void bordering the city, his expression grim.
"Is the World Bubble failing, or is something wrong with the Silver Sea?"
He didn't have an answer, but he knew he couldn't stand by. He had just finished his production line; he wasn't about to let it be destroyed before he could enjoy the results.
He switched the view and found Kisuke Urahara in his shop. Urahara was in his lab studying the data he'd gathered from Ichigo.
The voice from beyond the heavens rang out:
"My dear Urahara-emon, comrade Batman of Karakura Town... the world is facing a crisis of destruction. We need a mad scientist like you to pull a pile of gadgets and emergency plans out of your pockets to save the world!"
