Chapter 2 - The Chained Cage

"How much am I fighting him for Jay?" Kano asks as he wraps his hands with a long strip of cloth.

"Those hand wraps are getting dirty kano, you gonna get new ones?" Jay asks, " The guy you're fighting is new, you're not gonna get much fighting him kid"

Kano continues wrapping his hands "How much?"

"15 silvers" Jay responds, "and half that isn't even yours, it's going straight up that bastard's bum."

Kano finishes wrapping his hands, and he punches the bag next to him to warm up, every punch he throws the crusted blood on the wraps flakes off like dust.

"If you knock him out, he said they will only take 5," Jay says, he walks outside the room and lights a cigarette, "good luck kiddo."

As Kano walks out the room and enters the ring, the shouts and screams of people surround him like thunder, no-one there was truly rooting for any of the fighters, they just want to see violence, Kano was well aware of that.

"Put on a show kid," Preacher said, patting Kano on his back as he walked into the metal cage. "I didn't spend 300 silver on you for no reason!" Preacher laughs manically.

Fighting in Yoan is illegal, it's especially illegal if it's organized, and even more punishable if the people fighting are using powers. Using powers by itself is illegal in Yoan after all, Yoan is a city of peace and a place where awakened and regular people can co-exists.

Kano can feel his body become alive, he is new to his powers as he awakened just 2 year ago, although his kinesis is weak, Kano has never lost.

"FIGHT!" The referee shouts.

Kano stares at his opponent, frail, skinny, but tall, it's obvious the guy in front of him has never trained. "I'll end this quickly" Kano whispers as he lunges, a blast of wind erupts from his feet propelling him right in front of his opponent's face, with no time to react, his opponent falls straight down like a rag doll, bloodied and unconscious.

"THATS RIGHT! 1 shot is all it took" Preacher laughs and turns to his colleagues, "what did I tell you guys huh? This kid's a natural!"

"Pay him double preacher, I like this kid haha,"

"You bet," Preacher responds.

After a few fights, the Chain's event ends and the crowd disperse quickly. Ever since the Chain's old location got raided by the police force 2 months ago, everyone has become so wary.

Kano and Jay sit in the fighter's lounge, waiting for their pay. Silent and observing all the bloodied fighters and the different expressions of their coaches.

"Will you not smoke next to me Jay? I told you before, I can't stand that smell."

"yeah , well you're going to have to get used to it, the boss will probably keep you here until your face starts to wrinkle," Jay says, blowing his smoke in the air, " that or he might just sell you to the highest bidder"

"And what about you? You brought me here."

"Look kid, I'm just a business man, I took you to that fat bastard for money, you listen to him now, but look at you, taken care of, money in your pockets, you must admit, fighting here is a little better than fighting out there, because at least here you get a belly full once in a while."

"I guess so, 13 years above ground, 2 years in hell. I have to say, I prefer hell."

"That's pretty funny, you haven't seen much of the world outside of Yoan have you kid?"

"No"

"Well to be truthfully honest, even if you were born into a well off family, life as an awakened child is going to be shitty for you, sooner of later one of the 5 houses will sweep you right out of that family's tender arms, they'll be lucky to be alive,"

"Why are you still here then Jay? You're not my coach anymore."

"Jay!" Preacher screams walking to the two, "What a performance eh? You brought me a gold mine haha. That kid might fetch me more than I gave you."

"My pay sir" Kano asks, hoping for extra.

Preacher tosses the a bag towards Kano, "dont spend it all"

Kano rummages through the bag, he silently counts as Preacher and Jay walks away. "Sir, this is only 8 silvers."

"That's what you deserve kid" Preacher says, "Fight some actually fighters and you might get 10"

Kano silently retaliates, he bites his lips hard, "fat bastard" kano whispers.

"What's that?" Preacher Yells.

Kano looks down, avoiding eye constant, "nothing sir, thank you for the silvers"

"I heard what you said, slave!" Preacher grabs Kano by the throat and squeezes, "you're my fucking property! What I give you is what you deserve. You'd be wise to know that."

Jay comes and places his hands on Preacher's shoulder, "you don't want to kill your gold mine now right?"

Preacher lets go of Kano, "your next fight is in 2 days, don't disappoint."

OUTSIDE, IN THE OUTSKIRT OF YOAN

"You smell that Urel?" Chan asks, he looks into the distance, the city lights sparkle and the smell of civilization creeps up on them as they move closer, "The kid's definitely here."

"We will see Chan," Urel is in awe at the sight of Yoan, "this place has changed a lot since I was last here, 15 years ago."

"Are you going to cry or something?" Chan says, "if so, can you do it somewhere else"

"No, I despise this place" Urel responds, "nothing good ever came from this"

"But it's the city of peace." Chan responds, "I always wanted to come here, and now here I am, I wanna try all the foods I heard about, and all the girls, I wanna see if they are as pretty as they say in those tales, this will heal my inner child for sure"

"What the hell are you talking about Chan? Are you going crazy again? We are here for the child of prophecy and we leave when we capture him, nothing more. I'm already overstimulated, if you do anything stupid I might just kill you."

"Whatever!" Chan responds, "You old hags are always going to complain, never enjoying the life that the enlightened one gave us."

"Yoan isn't sweet like you Chan, sure it's a city of peace from the outside, but once you go deeper, it'll consume you."

Chan and Urel enters Yoan.
