Chapter 286 - Chapter 286 Ultron vs. Sentinel Robots

After testing, the Ultron Robot was indeed powerful.

Logan's jeans were also quite powerful.

Under that kind of concentrated fire, a few strips of cloth actually remained, perfectly covering the vital areas; they were practically on par with Hulk's underwear.

But the result was clear: facing the Ultron Robot in its second stage, Logan was completely outmatched.

It wasn't that Logan was too weak, but rather that the Ultron Robot was far too overpowered.

Not only did it integrate all the functions of the Iron Man armor and the Sentinel Robots, but it also had the artificial intelligence Ultron as an assistant, plus Darian's Enchantment buffs; the whole thing was a super hybrid of technology and magic.

A Mutant like Logan, who only had a single method of attack, was basically just a free kill when facing an Ultron Robot that mastered both magic and martial arts.

Unfortunately, the Ultron Robot's copying ability wasn't without limits; it could only replicate materialized abilities.

To put it simply, they had to be things that could be touched and seen.

Abilities like Professor X's Telepathy, Magneto's magnetic field manipulation, Storm's weather control, and so on—even if the Ultron Robot copied them, it wouldn't be able to use them.

Of course, for the Ultron Robot, this was merely a minor flaw in an otherwise perfect design.

The testing was over; next was the issue of production.

To manufacture Ultron Robots in large batches, they needed enough production lines.

Darian had already sent Erik with a Mutant Engineering Team to expand production lines everywhere, frantically mass-producing troops.

But relying solely on this production capacity was still not enough.

The fifty-year rocket launcher had a time limit; they couldn't stay in this future World for too long. If they relied on building their own capacity, there probably wouldn't be enough time.

Thinking of this, a plan suddenly formed in Darian's mind.

Since production capacity was insufficient, he would just snatch what was already there!

He had already chosen his target: America's Sentinel Robot production factories.

Anyway, Ultron Robots and Sentinel Robots were similar; with a little modification, they could be used directly.

In this future World, Darian had completely unleashed his true self. He didn't need to worry about ruining his save file at all; he would do whatever was most convenient.

As for moral boundaries and such...

Do players even have those?

Darian grinned: "Hank, deploy all our Ultron Robots. This is a perfect chance to let our Ultron Robots make their debut to the whole World."

Alcatraz Island.

This place used to be a federal prison for high-profile convicts, surrounded by water on all sides.

Later, it was bought by a human corporation and converted into a research Base, specifically to develop a cure that could turn Mutants back into ordinary humans, which caused quite a stir back then.

However, this move drew protests from many Mutants led by Magneto, who hoped to establish a bridge of communication with the person in charge of the company.

Consequently, Magneto threw the entire Golden Gate Bridge directly onto Alcatraz Island.

Unfortunately, the humans didn't understand his meaning and started fighting without a word.

Forced by circumstances, they had no choice but to launch a counterattack.

Who would have thought the 'evil' X-Men would suddenly show up and give these victims a brutal beating?

This indirectly caused Jean, who had abandoned the light for darkness, to completely lose control, releasing the Phoenix Force within her. Everything turned to ash, and the entire island was nearly leveled.

Fortunately, Logan stepped in just in time, enduring it with his powerful healing factor and his jeans. Finally, with tears in his eyes, he personally stabbed the woman he loved, barely bringing the situation to a close.

To this day, the Golden Gate Bridge still lies across Alcatraz Island, having become a landmark of the area.

That research Base had also been converted into a Sentinel Robot production factory, continuously churning out Sentinels.

"What a fine, isolated place."

Darian stood on the shore, looking at Alcatraz Island beneath him and sighing with emotion.

He pressed the communicator in his ear: "Blink, you can begin."

Blink was a Mutant with an Asian face whose ability was to open portals for free passage, making her very suitable for long-distance transport work.

As soon as he finished speaking, over a dozen purple rings of light appeared out of thin air, tearing openings in the sky to form portals the size of two adults.

Immediately after, Ultron Robots emerged one by one, heading straight for the Sentinel Robot production factory without a word.

"What is that!?"

The human soldiers stationed at the production factory quickly discovered these uninvited guests.

With an appearance completely different from Sentinel Robots, these were robots they had never seen before.

"Could it be the latest model of Sentinel Robot?"

Before they could react, they saw the Ultron Robots landing on Alcatraz Island.

Suddenly someone received a message, and their face changed drastically: "No! These robots are unauthorized. They aren't Sentinels. Open fire!"

Hearing this, the human soldiers pulled their triggers one after another, firing wildly at the Ultron Robots.

Da-da-da-da-da—!

Golden bullets rained down on the Ultron Robots, clanging and sparking, yet they didn't even leave a scratch.

The Ultron Robots looked at them coldly and slowly raised their arms.

The Repulsor Cannons in their palms lit up with blue light, followed by streaks of energy beams whistling through the air.

The human soldiers couldn't dodge in time and were hit directly by the energy beams, falling heavily to the ground, unable to get back up.

Seeing that bullets were completely ineffective, someone shouted: "Use the Rocket launchers!"

Several soldiers shouldered Rocket launchers and pulled the triggers at the nearest Ultron Robot.

Boom—!

The fire from the explosion instantly swallowed the figures of several Ultron Robots, and thick smoke billowed.

Before the human soldiers could celebrate, they saw several tall figures walking out of the smoke, their bodies covered in a thick layer of rock, like a layer of natural armor.

Then the rock surface dissipated, revealing the unharmed metal bodies beneath.

"Th-this... this is the Sentinel Robot's ability!?"

The human soldiers were beyond shocked.

The Ultron Robots didn't care what they were thinking; their arms rose, and the Repulsor Cannons in their palms lit up again.

The human soldiers were scared out of their wits, scrambling to hide behind cover.

But it was useless. The energy beams blasted through, sending the cover and the people hiding behind it flying into the sky together.

At this moment, the human soldiers finally experienced how the Mutants felt.

Facing such ridiculously strong robots, they couldn't win and they couldn't hide; there was nothing but despair.

But soon, a dense swarm of Sentinel Robots poured in from all directions, their mechanical eyes locking onto the Ultron Robots as they lunged forward.

The Ultron Robots showed no sign of weakness and met them head-on.

The two waves of robots crashed together, various abilities taking turns on the stage, special effects flying everywhere, and the sound of collisions was deafening.

However, the Sentinel Robots were clearly weaker than the Ultron Robots; their attacks landing on the Ultron Robots caused almost no damage.

Constructed with metal bodies that possessed both hardness and toughness, coupled with the enhancement of Mutant abilities, it was difficult for the Sentinels to damage the outer shells of the Ultron Robots.

Furthermore, the Ultron Robots' algorithms far surpassed those of the Sentinel Robots.

If the Sentinel Robots were only on the first level, then the Ultron Robots were at least on the fifth.

They could predict every movement of the Sentinel Robots and use abilities to counter them in advance, turning the Sentinels' own abilities into fatal weaknesses and easily destroying their bodies.

After one wave of engagement, the Sentinel Robots suffered heavy losses, with wreckage scattered all over the ground.

These robots that had nearly driven Mutants to extinction were actually becoming as vulnerable as their former prey when facing the Ultron Robots that completely crushed them.

However, the Sentinel Robots still held an advantage in numbers, with at least several times as many as the Ultron Robots.

As the Sentinel Robots closed in, the Ultron Robots gradually began to struggle.

"Activate Level Two Combat Protocol!"

The eyes of all Ultron Robots lit up with red light simultaneously, their arms instantly transforming into two gatling guns aimed at the swarming Sentinels.

Da-da-da-da-da—!

Runic patterns emerged on the gun barrels, and bullets imbued with magic effects poured out like a violent Storm.

The Sentinel Robots simply couldn't withstand so many powerful magic bullets, being blown into mechanical parts in large swaths.

In less than a moment, the number of Sentinel Robots had drastically decreased, and the ground was covered in their wreckage and debris.

On the other hand, for the Ultron Robots, except for some severe damage to some units' bodies, not a single one was missing.

But this wasn't a problem.

Those damaged Ultron Robots withdrew from the battlefield and came to Darian's side.

Darian pulled out an ancient-looking hammer and tapped it on them; those damaged parts immediately became as good as new, as shiny as if they had just left the factory.

[Item: forging hammer (A hammer used by dwarves for forging; as long as there are suitable materials, it can repair any damaged object)]

With the forging hammer, the Ultron Robots didn't need to worry about damage at all.

Right now, Darian was like a mobile fountain for the Ultron Robots. Whenever an Ultron Robot's health bar was low, it would run to him, get a few taps to restore full health, and then continue the team fight.

It was lucky that the Sentinel Robots didn't have intelligence, or they would definitely be swearing and reporting him for cheating.

As time went on, there were fewer and fewer Sentinel Robots, until their numbers were almost equal to the Ultron Robots.

The subsequent battle had no suspense.

Without their numerical advantage, the Sentinel Robots were purely there to be crushed by the Ultron Robots.

Darian watched as the last Sentinel Robot was torn to pieces by an Ultron Robot and nodded with satisfaction.

He pressed his communicator and said: "It's done. Have the engineering team come over and convert this place into our production line."

After speaking, Darian didn't linger and led the many Ultron Robots to the next Sentinel Robot production factory.

Over the next few days, Darian led the Ultron Robots on a sweep across America.

Today they would take out a Sentinel factory on the East Coast, and tomorrow they would take out another one on the West Coast.

The production lines they seized were modified on the spot and handed over to the artificial intelligence Ultron to take over, running twenty-four hours a day, truly realizing a 007 work schedule.

Under this unrestrained pace of mass-producing troops, Darian's army of Ultron Robots expanded rapidly.

At first, there were only dozens, but after a few days, it became hundreds, and it looked like it was about to break into four digits.

Moreover, this number was still frantically rising, like a snowball rolling bigger and bigger.

After the human side received the news, they couldn't sit still anymore.

This group of Mutants, who in the past only knew how to play with superpowers, had actually secretly started working on technology, and they were doing it even better than the humans.

If they were allowed to continue developing like this, the few remaining advantages humans had would be completely gone.

They certainly didn't want to see that happen.

Several times they sent human troops and Sentinel Robots to try and intercept them, but it was useless.

Now that the number of Ultron Robots had reached a certain scale, a few dozen or even a hundred Sentinel Robots simply couldn't pose a threat to them, unless humans could deploy an overwhelming number of Sentinels at once.

The humans thought of this as well and immediately deployed an even larger scale of Sentinel Robots.

However, just as they moved their main force out, Darian would receive the news and immediately teleport away with all the Ultron Robots.

Not only that, but he also took advantage of the period when the main force was away to move to those poorly defended strongholds and strike them, like a plague of locusts, carrying away everything inside, not even sparing the ground itself.

By the time the main force of Sentinel Robots arrived at the scene, all that greeted them was a pile of ruins.

After a few times, the human side learned their lesson.

Rather than failing to protect either side, it was better to concentrate their forces to guard what was left, at least to preserve their basic foundation.

But the problem was, just watching like this wasn't an option either.

Seeing the Mutants' power growing larger and the situation gradually spiraling out of control, the human high-level officials could only convene an emergency meeting once again.

"We must throw all our strength into it and wipe them out in one go before they become too powerful!"

"No, they have Mutants with teleportation abilities. Even if we can find them and send all our troops, they can leave immediately. We simply can't catch them. Doing this will instead leave our rear undefended, and the situation will only get worse."

"Then what should we do? Are we just going to watch them strengthen their power like this?"

"I didn't say we should just watch, I just feel we can't act recklessly; we need to find a steady way."

"Steady? If we're any more 'steady', they'll be at our doorstep!"

The meeting room was in a complete mess, with spit flying all over the table.

These people were mainly divided into two factions: one was the Radicals, and the other was the even more radical faction.

As for the Conservatives, they were long gone.

What did they rely on to live the good life they had now?

Wasn't it the Sentinel Robots clearing out those Mutants and the humans carrying the X-Gene back then?

Every single person sitting there was unwilling to see a Mutant comeback because that would affect their ruling status.

However, after arguing for a long time, they still hadn't reached a conclusion.

Finally, it was a white-haired old man with the most prestige who made the decision, ordering the research department to try every possible way to upgrade the Sentinel Robots.

If all else failed, they were to just copy the work and replicate the Ultron Robot one-to-one.

Since the Mutants could replicate their Sentinel Robots, they could replicate the Ultron Robots just the same.

Researchers: "..."

Replicate a nuclear reactor, me?

The researchers were a bit troubled: "That robot's energy comes from a nuclear reactor. With our current technology, it's simply impossible to achieve."

The white-haired old man used the universal boss formula: "That's your business. I only want results."

Researchers: "..."
