Now that Lewis had reached the final stages of his pregnancy, Draen had become increasingly clingy, observant and almost obsessively protective of him.
It was as though the dragon instincts deeply rooted within his very being had awakened completely, leaving him with an overwhelming need to keep his beloved safe. He was practically unwilling to let Lewis out of his sight, constantly checking whether he was comfortable, whether he had eaten enough or whether he was feeling any discomfort.
Even the smallest changes in Lewis's expression were enough to make Draen worry.
Sometimes, Lewis couldn't help but find his behavior ridiculous.
He wasn't made of glass, after all.
But arguing with a dragon who had already decided that his pregnant mate was the most precious and fragile being in the entire world was practically useless.
And as much as Lewis complained about Draen's overprotectiveness, he had gradually grown accustomed to it.
Perhaps even fond of it.
