Later that morning, Lewis woke feeling as though he had been given a second chance at life.
The exhaustion that had weighed down every movement of his body for days was completely gone. When he opened his eyes, they were clear and bright, no longer carrying the dull lifelessness that had worried everyone around him.
Even the servants who crossed paths with him throughout the palace could not hide their relief. They exchanged smiles amongst themselves as they watched him move through the halls with renewed energy.
The color had returned to his cheeks, replacing the pale complexion that had become all too familiar in recent days.
Although his body was still covered in countless bite marks underneath his robe, Lewis hardly seemed bothered by them.
Instead, he felt unusually light, almost overflowing with vitality. Every breath felt refreshing and every step felt effortless.
It was as though the weakness that had plagued him had been completely washed away overnight.
