Chapter 21 - The Legend of The Snake God Nyami-Nyami

While Mukura heals the people at the village, a granny approached her with a cane and places her hand on her shoulder.

"You seem to have come a long way and still have not reached your destination and my instincts tell me you are in need of some guidance!" she speaks to Mukura.

"Thank you! But will that not be too much trouble? I can manage on my own. Thank you, again!" she replies the old lady.

"After you have finished healing everyone here, come and find me. I have something to I would like to talk to you about!"

"I will, granny, I promise, as soon as I am done with this, I will come and see you!" she assures her.

The granny smiles, "Good!" she departs.

Mukura continues healing the people of the village and as soon as everyone was cleansed, she set to find the granny and she found her in the looking at the sky near a cave.

"I am here now granny, sorry to keep you waiting!"

The granny looks at her and smiles, "It is alright Genteel, I bet you no longer remember me, but we met years ago and it seems you still haven't changed and how strange, you still dress the same!"

Mukura looks confused, "Ummm, granny, you must have me confused with someone else!"

"No, I remember you clearly unless you have forgotten because you were still too young. The great white witch who saved this village from the servants of the snake god!"

"Granny, you must be confusing me with the Queen of the Enchanted Forest, Alabaster Weald, Genteel because I am wearing her clothing!"

Her happy face slowly turns confused and demoralised, "Are you her daughter perhaps?" a little light shows on her face.

"No, I am the daughter of Tofireyi and Takada!"

"Ohh, are you sure? Because if you ask me, I can see a lot of her in you! The kindness and the love, a whole lot of things about you are similar to her!"

She smiles and holds the granny on her shoulders, "I am sure, granny!"

"Alright then, now, tell me what are you looking for? Maybe I can help you out even for a little bit!"

"I was sent somewhere by a god and the map I have; the route seems to end here but there is nothing that shows that this is the place that he send me to!"

"Ohh, and what did he say the place looks like!" the granny asks.

"I don't remember clearly but he said something about it being over run by snake people emerging!"

"He must have sent you to the Nyami people land!"

"Wait, the what now?"

"The Nyami people, he sent you to the land of the Nyami-Nyami, a land where people worship the snake got that was succumbed into mythology!"

She laughs out loud, "Come on, those are just stories!" she denies.

"After all you have seen, you will deny this possibility!" she looks disappointed, "When the Kariba dam was built, the god killed a lot of people in anger and was sealed away by Dzivaguru, another god but he is the god of rain, floods and more. And now, the river god is plotting a return and with the looks of things, reality has already started tearing apart and this is looking bad for all humanity!"

Mukura holds the granny's hands, "Everything will be alright, I promise, I will not let anything happen to this world, I will save it!"

The granny in her mind sees a flash back of Genteel assuring her that everything will be alright and she smiles with tears flowing down her cheeks, "Are you sure, you are not her or her child? Because you are truly doing a bad job proving otherwise!"

"I am sure granny!" she replies assuring her.

Granny starts walking, "If you say so! Follow me then!"

"And where are we going now?" she asks following behind.

"We are headed for the Cave of Mystery or the Mysterious Cave whatever you want to call it!"

"Okay and what does this cave do?"

"I will tell you when we get there! Just follow me, it is actually not that far, if it was too far, I would have just told you what to do and gave you directions because in my current state I cannot walk long distances!"

"Really though, you should have just done that instead of troubling yourself this much."

"Ohh do not worry about it, it is no trouble! It is a pleasure to help you!"

"I do not think that I can ever thank you enough though!"

"Do not worry about it," she stops walking, "We are here."

Mukura looks in front and sees a giant rock, "Umm I thought you said a cave! Why is there a dwala in front of us?"

The granny turns and looks at her, "The cave is beneath the rock, you need to get through the entrance and think of where you want to go and the you will be there!"

"Just like that?"

"Yes, just like that but you have to be pretty clear or you will be trapped for an eternity!"

"I will need sometime to clear my mind!"

"Please take all the time you need!" she says as she turns to leave.

"Where are you going now, granny and are you not going to see me through this!" she asks concerned about failure and entrapment in the cave of mysteries.

"Do not be afraid, everything will be alright!" she walks back and grabs Mukura by the cheeks, "I know you will be fine child and after you are done with all that you are doing, please do take some time to visit!" she releases Mukura's cheeks and departs.

"Well, granny believes I can do it, maybe I can! And what was her name again?" she searches in her mind if they ever exchanged names, "I did ask but why is the name not in my head? Have I become so ill-mannered!?"

She continues the war and heads to the cave of mysteries to continue her journey. The cave is cold and too dark for her to see and in the dark, she shuts her eyes exhales in deeply and breathes out loudly and focuses on the place where she would like to go. Slowly, the coldness begins fading with her body heating up slowly. Her body loosens up and she slowly opens up her eyes and she see herself in the middle of dead human bodies with bite mark and veins showing all over their skins.

She startles jumping back screaming and stepping on a body behind her and she just again and begins running holding her mouth in terror. After all she has seen she is still terrified of seeing dead bodies.

She closes her eyes and breathes heavily and fast waiting for herself to come down and then commence with the expedition.

"So, this is the land of the Nyami people!" she places her hand on her heart, "I was not expecting to find such a scene." She says to herself.

A little boy comes from behind her and holds her hand and she jumps and runs away from him without looking at him. For a while she runs without turning back.

Looking back on if the thing that grabbed her is still after her, she lays eyes on a little boy wearing a red T shirt and a black short with medium hair filled with twigs and dust all over his body. His eyes are terrified as if he witnessed what happened here. She squats down and looks at him in the eyes and moves the eyes around his body, cleans him up with her hands removing the dust that is on him and the twigs.

"Hie, how are you?" the boy does not answer her greeting, "Okay, that is obviously a stupid question, you are not good," she pauses looks down, "Are there any more survivors?"

The boy shakes her head in denial.

"I am too late," she begins crying and sits down on the floor as she cries over her failure, "Who did this?" she asks infuriated.

The boy points to a huge statue of a snake built at the centre of the village.

"Okay, okay, let's leave this place before they return.
