Chapter 142 - Chapter 17: Inside the Karaoke Box

The karaoke room wasn't very large.

Actually, the concept of'size' was only relative to Tokyoites. If a foreign tourist came here, they would surely feel a sense of collapse regarding the locals' concept of size.

Saying it had a high utilization rate was just another way of saying it was cramped.

In the room where there was barely enough space to stand, Sen Getsusa sat on the sofa, clutching a bag of snacks and chewing on them intermittently.

The layout here was a semi-'U' shape, with the sofa wrapping around the central table. Opposite the seats were the screen and karaoke machine. In short, it wasn't much different from other karaoke boxes on the market, with poor lights flashing on and off.

Boring images played on the screen. In the small room, the two girls each had their own thoughts, and neither touched the karaoke machine or the microphones on the rack.

Nakajima Saki ordered a lot of food and drinks from the waiter—including certain shady things provided by the karaoke box.

The waiter only gave the girl a subtle look. After swiping the card, he still dutifully provided those things that shouldn't be given to two underage girls.

Sen Getsusa smacked her lips and sank quietly into the sofa. After finishing her soda, she began to lie lazily on her side... "I say, Nakajima, hurry up. I'm so sleepy..."

As she spoke, the girl even let out a massive, quite impolite yawn. The air in the room was a bit bad, and since this karaoke box seemed somewhat irregular, Sen Getsusa had smelled a thick, strange odor since they entered.

This made the girl a bit irritable.

Hurry up?

Nakajima Saki, having seen off the waiter, was a bit confused. She stood by the door, looking at Sen Getsusa lying on the sofa—her long hair covered her small face, making her expression unreadable. Her two fair arms were stretched out long, moving up and down, and she was mumbling utterly boring gibberish.

"Aba aba... aba aba... hurry up, hurry up, so slow..."

"Hurry up with what?"

"Eh? You aren't actually going to treat me to singing, are you?" Sen Getsusa sat up slowly and rubbed her eyes. "Hurry up. Didn't you prepare some manpower?"

"Or did you specifically drag me to a karaoke box just to find a place to duel me one-on-one?"

Sen Getsusa's eyes drooped. "No way, right?"

"I don't think you can beat me."

A sudden silence fell.

Seeing that she had been seen through, Nakajima Saki stopped pretending.

"You've got guts, Sen Getsusa. To still follow me like this, could it be... you called the police?" The girl backed away cautiously, her hand behind her back quietly opening her phone's contact list.

At this point, her distance from Sen Getsusa was already the maximum allowed by the room.

Sen Getsusa leisurely pulled her phone out of her bag, lit up the screen, and waved it at her. "Nope, not at all. Wouldn't that be boring?"

Hearing the other party's words, Nakajima Saki laughed out of anger. "Boring?"

"You'll find out in a moment, Sen Getsusa!" The curtain had been pulled back on the stage, and now all the actors were meant to make their entrance.

"You will remember today vividly! The consequences were brought upon you by yourself! Not me!"

Sen Getsusa toyed with her emerald green nails. Her relaxed posture and Nakajima Saki's hysterical state formed two distinct pictures.

"This typical villainous way of speaking... have you really reached the chuunibyou age, Nakajima?"

"I'm actually quite curious—do we have a grudge?"

"We don't, right?" After answering her own question, Sen Getsusa asked again, "Did I do something?"

"I didn't, right?"

She lifted her legs and placed her feet on the table, crossing one over her ankle. "So it's very strange. Why are you targeting me?"

Nakajima Saki clenched her fists tightly. Her distorted features ruined the three or four points of beauty the girl originally possessed. At this moment, she had completely fallen into paranoia and rage.

"Because of you!"

"It's all because of you!"

"From the time I was little, no one could surpass me! What makes you so special?" Her shrill voice was like a chisel being dragged sideways across a blackboard, broken and frantic.

"You made me lose so much face, and yet you still act like you don't know anything?"

"Sen Getsusa, you did it on purpose, didn't you?!"

"The teachers all like you, and those boys and girls are all on your side!"

"I put in so much effort, and in the end, I still can't beat you?!"

Sen Getsusa blinked. "You can't beat Eriri, either."

Nakajima Saki:...I have to say, those words were the killing blow. Nakajima Saki felt a breath catch in her chest for a long time, her face turning red from holding it in.

Sen Getsusa's fluffy black hair curled as she pressed down on the corner of her mouth: "Actually, you're quite good too~ I noticed a few boys are always staring at you, you know."

These words infuriated Nakajima Saki even more: "Don't speak to me in that condescending tone of a winner!!"

She stomped her feet as she approached, "You think you've won? Sooner or later, all of this will belong to me!"

Nakajima Saki didn't understand Sen Getsusa's thoughts at all; she believed this innocent-looking girl was subtly mocking her failure.

In fact, Sen Getsusa was doing exactly that.

"The things you care about are really strange."

"I'm just a little bit richer than you..."

The young girl pinched her index finger and thumb together, showing a very small gap.

"A little bit prettier than you..."

The gap widened slightly.

"A little bit better figure than you..."

It continued to widen.

"A little bit better grades than you..."

It grew larger and larger.

From the other's teasing eyes and that extremely mocking gap between her fingers, Nakajima Saki seemed to see... the vast Universe.

"Sen Getsusa!!"

Nakajima Saki panted heavily, her chest heaving. Her hideous expression slowly faded under Sen Getsusa's innocent gaze, turning into a forced, half-smiling look.

"Maybe, maybe you are better than me in every way, but that was before today..."

"Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!"

Sen Getsusa swung her arms back and forth, lying on the sofa and acting spoiled like she was swimming.

The girl looked up, her calves curled up: "I'm hungry, I'm hungry! Nakajima-san, I don't want to listen to a Hannya woman's resentful grumbling anymore..."

Nakajima Saki calmed the fire in her heart, and finally, she pressed a certain button on the screen.

"Sen Getsusa, I hope you can maintain that expression in a little while."

The girl glared viciously at the limp Sen Getsusa and unlocked the door: "I'll film a wonderful video for you. [High School Girl and Three Delinquents' Karaoke Room Operation!] How about that?"

Sen Getsusa ignored her, rubbing her head against the leather sofa cushion. After playing for a while, she sat up, tore open a snack package, and stuffed them into her mouth with a crunching sound.

The girl with bulging cheeks completely ignored the anger gradually accumulating on the other's face.

Nakajima Saki's face held a cruelty unbefitting her age.

As a fellow female, she could easily walk to the edge of a cliff and extend a finger to push another young girl off.
