Mia adjusted her blazer nervously as she stepped into the sleek, glass-walled office. Her first day at Black Enterprises had begun, and she promised herself she'd be professional. Just another job, she told herself.
But then, she collided with someone in the lobby, sending her papers flying.
"I'm so sorry!" She stammered, bending to pick them up.
I should be apologizing," a deep, smooth voice said.
Her head shot up. Standing infront of her was a man tall enough to make her heart skip. Dark hair, piercing eyes, and an air of authority she couldn't ignore.
You must be Mia," he said, a hint of a smirk tugging his lips. "I'm Alexander Black."
Her pulse spiked. The brief brush of his hand as he helped her gather the papers sent a shiver down her spine.
"Welcome to the team," he added, his gaze lingering far too long.
Mia blinked trying to focus on her breathing rather than the electricity sparking between them.
As she turned to leave, she heard him whisper, almost to himself, " I've been waiting for you."
