The ceiling was vaulted, flat in the centre, its panes replaced by a sheer pane of glass as though it were allowing the Gods a clear view to the atrium below.
'Who the fuck cleans that?' Kai wondered.
Even their footsteps fell differently as they slowly made their way through the hall, with every step echoing back across the marbled floor with a clear, crisp dissonance.
And as they walked, Kai turned his head left and right.
The columns he had seen outside, lined the interior also; stretching from floor to ceiling, and between them at regular intervals on either side of the hall stood the statues.
His eyes lifted high to gaze upon the faces of the Gods that lined the walls.
