Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: A Visit from Izumi and Lightning Lessons

By late afternoon, the heavy wooden front gate of Akira's residence creaked open.

Izumi Uchiha stepped onto the polished stone pathway, stopping dead in her tracks. Her jaw practically unhinged as her wide, sparkling dark eyes took in the sheer scale of the estate. Lush bamboo groves framed a sprawling stone walkway that wound past a tranquil koi pond, leading toward a traditional main mansion that looked more like a place for a noble lord rather than a classmate's home.

"Akira... are you kidding me?!" Izumi almost shrieked, clutching her flushed cheeks with both hands in absolute shock. "Is this really all yours?! My entire family's apartment could fit inside your front courtyard! Are you secretly royalty or something?!"

"It's just quiet," Akira replied with a slight chuckle, gesturing for her to follow him down the wooden corridor toward the garden. "Come on in."

As they reached the wooden veranda, Snowy trotted over, letting out a soft, welcoming yip before nudging her cold nose directly against Izumi's knee.

"Snowy!" Izumi gasped, her eyes turning into pure heart-shapes as her earlier shock instantly transformed into wild excitement. She dropped her small school bag onto the floor and threw herself down, burying her face straight into the fox's soft, fluffy white fur. "Oh my goodness, you remembered me! Who's the sweetest, most perfect little fox in Konoha? You are!"

Snowy leaned into the affection, her tail wagging so violently her whole backside swayed, causing Akira to shake his head in amusement.

"Don't spoil her too much," Akira teased gently, taking a seat on the wooden deck. "She already acts like she owns the estate."

Izumi looked up from the grass, her cheeks flushed bright pink from excitement as she squeezed Snowy tight. "She should own the place! Look at this face! She's an absolute princess!"

Once Izumi finally managed to pull herself away from the fox and sat down beside him on the deck, Akira leaned back against a wooden pillar, getting straight to the point of her visit. During their time at the Academy, he had noticed her struggling with subtle chakra efficiency despite her naturally high chakra output.

"Let's test your baseline first," Akira said, pointing toward a tall cedar tree at the edge of the yard. "Walk straight up the trunk using only chakra at the soles of your feet. No hands, no jumping."

"Tree climbing? Please, that's easy!" Izumi said confidently, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder with a proud smirk.

She focused her mind, channeled a sudden burst of energy into her sandals, and marched forward. She took three extremely proud steps straight up the bark before her chakra spiked out of control. The wood splintered with a sharp crack under her foot, her sandal slipped, and with a startled yelp, Izumi tumbled backward, landing flat on her rear in the soft grass with a muted thud.

"Ow..." Izumi whimpered softly, rubbing her aching back while a furious, bright crimson blush flushed across her face all the way to her ears. "That... that tree was totally slippery on purpose!"

Akira couldn't hold back a soft laugh. "Right, the tree definitely held a personal grudge against you."

"Hey! Stop laughing!" Izumi pouted hard, her face burning twice as hot as she scrambled back to her feet, frantically dusting off her skirt. "I just... used a teeny bit too much force, okay?!"

Watching her flustered reaction, Akira explained the core issue. "That's precisely the problem. The Uchiha Clan's training methods are heavily built around Fire Release traditions—pushing kids from a young age to project explosive, forceful bursts of chakra. But your natural affinity isn't Fire at all; it's Lightning. Trying to use heavy, aggressive Uchiha fire-style output methods with your natural lightning chakra makes your output spike unevenly, which snaps the wood."

Izumi blinked, her embarrassed pout slowly melting into pure awe as his words sank in. "So... I'm forcing my chakra like an Uchiha fire user instead of flowing with my natural Lightning nature?"

"Exactly," Akira smiled, stepping over to the cedar. Without even using hand signs, he walked effortlessly up the vertical trunk until he was standing upside down on a thick branch five meters above her. "Control is about balance. Smooth out the pulses and guide your lightning nature instead of forcing it."

Izumi stared up at him standing upside down so casually, her mouth forming a quiet, shocked 'O'. "I never thought about it like that... Everyone in my clan just keeps telling me to push harder like the fire jutsu practitioners do!"

Akira dropped softly back to the grass, landing without making a sound. He reached into his pouch and pulled out two neat scrolls, extending them toward her. "Since Lightning is your sole affinity, honing precise control with it will fix your foundational flow entirely. These are Lightning Release: Lightning Ball and Lightning Release: Thunder Wave."

Izumi took the scrolls, her jaw dropping open for the second time today as her eyes lit up like lanterns. "Wait, real elemental ninjutsu scrolls?! Are you serious, Akira?! These are insanely valuable!"

"Consider it an investment in my future squadmate," Akira said casually. "Master the control principles behind those, and your overall chakra handling will become twice as sharp."

Izumi gripped the scrolls tightly against her chest, a huge, radiant smile breaking across her face. "Thank you so much, Akira! You're incredible!"

In her overwhelming thrill, Izumi instinctively leaned in and threw her arms around his neck in a tight hug. The moment she realized what she was doing, her body went totally rigid. Her heart did a frantic flip, and she pulled back abruptly, her ears burning bright red as she fumbled frantically with her hands, looking anywhere except at his face. "I mean—uh! Thanks! As a friend! A classmate! A... super helpful person who isn't annoying at all!"

Akira just smirked, thoroughly enjoying how flustered the little Uchiha girl was.

Right on cue, Snowy trotted over and flopped over onto Izumi's feet, letting out a dramatic, noisy sigh as if completely exhausted from watching them train.

Izumi gasped softly, looking down at the white fox before looking up at Akira with big, pleading eyes. "Akira... can I please take Snowy to my house for just tonight? She's so cute, and she looks like she's dying of boredom staying in this giant yard all by herself!"

Akira looked at Snowy, who let out an eager, cheerful yip and bounced on her front paws. Seeing how the white fox had indeed been itching to explore outside the compound walls, Akira chuckled. "Alright. But if she eats your clan elders' prized koi fish, I'm claiming I've never seen her before in my life."

"Hey! She's an angel, she wouldn't do that!" Izumi giggled, scooping the fox up into a snug hug.

"Young Master, dinner is served!" Sister Ren's warm voice echoed from the main corridor.

"Come on," Akira said, sliding off the veranda. "Ren made something special today."

Inside the cozy dining hall, the table was set with steaming bowls of coconut milk rice paired with savory, honey-glazed deer bacon, accompanied by chilled sweet milk drinks. The heavenly aroma filled the air, and even Po the panda ambled into the room, taking his seat at a custom low stool with his own big bowl of fresh apples and bamboo.

"Whoa! A real panda eating at a dinner table?!" Izumi squeaked in total shock, gasping as she took her seat across from Akira.

"Don't mind him, he has better table manners than most Genin," Akira joked.

The three of them shared a warm, lively meal. Izumi chattered excitedly about Academy gossip and her clan's funny quirks, her earlier nervousness melting completely into comfortable laughter. Sister Ren kept topping off her glass with a fond, motherly smile, clearly happy to see Akira enjoying company his own age.

As dusk settled over the village and the street lanterns flickered to life, Akira walked Izumi out to the front gate.

Snowy trotted proudly alongside Izumi, wearing a little red ribbon Izumi had tied around her neck during dinner.

"Thanks for dinner, and for the scrolls, Akira," Izumi said softly, turning around at the gate with a warm, genuine smile, her cheeks still dusted with a lingering hint of pink. "I had the absolute best time today!"

"Practice that tree climbing slowly, Izumi," Akira reminded her with a smirk. "I don't want to hear that you broke any bones."

"I won't!" Izumi laughed, giving him a sweet wave as her face brightened again. "See you tomorrow at the Academy!"

With Snowy prancing happily beside her, Izumi walked down the quiet street, looking back one last time with a beaming smile before turning the corner toward the Uchiha compound.
