Chapter 4 - Another Day

The low golden glow of the light beside me

The humming of the fan

The warmth of my favorite blanket

Crocheted for me by hand

The baby crying in the room next door

Longing for food and sleep

As I lie here, all alone

The thoughts begin to creep

My whole life is just a wall away

Yet I begin to sob as I lay

For there is something missing from me

A sense of calm, a sense of peace

So for now I'll focus on the light

And the Warmth of handwoven stitches

Ignore the whisper of death in my ear

And the longing to slumber in ditches

Why does my mind wish to make me so dark?

When I have so much that I desire

Gripping my skin like an unwanted birthmark

Begging my mind to retire.

So hard to hold so much love and pain

Nearly too much to bear

I'll hold on for at least another day

Before I do declare
