Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 Leaving the City Overnight, the Spirit Hall Arrives!

Seven Treasures Inn, in a guest room.

"Yao'er, is there anything else you need to pack?" Dongfang Jing's gaze swept across the room, stretching his shoulders as if warming up.

Dongfang Yao shook her head. She couldn't use her soul power to activate her storage soul tool,so her brother had packed all her luggage into the newly acquired Twin Star Vortex.

"No."

"Alright, let's leave the city now." Dongfang Jing's tone was decisive.

The night outside the window was deep. Dongfang Yao blinked, somewhat puzzled as to why they had to travel overnight instead of waiting until dawn to take a carriage to the distant Han Hai City.

But she was sensible and didn't ask further, simply nodding obediently.

She knew she was still a burden to her brother, and her wholehearted trust and obedience were the greatest support she could offer.

Dongfang Jing's decision to leave overnight stemmed from several unusual glances he had keenly observed while eating at the inn's restaurant.

With his powerful spiritual senses, he easily detected that the gazes came from several seemingly ordinary inn staff members.

Their observation carried a sense of organized, covert surveillance. Although he didn't know the specific reason, he already understood that he was probably being   watched by the owner behind this inn— the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School had always had a good reputation, considered a model sect.

But Dongfang Jing, having lived two lives, knew that things in the world were never as simple as they seemed.

There is always a shadow beneath the light.   How could a powerful sect be completely without a dark side?

He didn't want to assume the worst of others, but he also didn't want to entrust his and his sister's safety to others.

Better safe than sorry.

Under the deep of night, it was the best time to leave quietly.

He skillfully bent down and picked up his sister.

His arm brushed against the little girl's armpit unintentionally, making her giggle and instantly easing the slightly heavy atmosphere in the room.

Dongfang Jing couldn't help but smile as he steadily supported her: "Yao'er, hold on tight to your brother, don't let go. Brother will show you... what it's like to travel!"

"Mmm!" Dongfang Yao immediately did as he was told, wrapping her arms tightly around the boy's neck.

After saying that, Dongfang Jing's eyes narrowed, and his mental power quietly unfolded, precisely locating a hidden coordinate in his mind.

The shattered mirror quickly condensed and shaped in front of him.

At the same time, the image at the hidden coordinate also simultaneously generated a mirror surface.

Dongfang Jing, holding his sister, stepped into the mirror surface in front of him and disappeared completely.

The room returned to silence, as if no one had ever lived there.

About an incense stick later, a series of hurried and heavy footsteps suddenly sounded outside the inn's corridor, breaking the tranquility of the night.

"My lords! My lords! You can't just barge in like this! Please tell me what you need to do first!"

The manager of the Seven Treasures Inn, a shrewd-looking middle-aged man, was anxiously chasing after the group, shouting and trying to dissuade them, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

The group consisted of six people, all dressed in the uniform of the Spirit Hall, wearing special masks that concealed their faces. Their aura was cold, and their actions carried an undeniable force.

"Get out of the way! Does the Spirit Hall need to give you a reason to do things?" one of his teammates said impatiently, waving his hand. A gust of wind containing hidden soul power pushed out, directly causing the ordinary-looking manager to stagger backward.

The manager gasped, about to stumble and fall, when suddenly a gentle yet irresistible force appeared out of nowhere, firmly supporting his back and helping him regain his footing.

Still shaken, he turned around and, upon seeing the person behind him, stammered, "Sect Master! What are you doing here?"

The newcomer was Ning Fengzhi.

He had arrived silently, holding an ornate cane, a gentle smile on his face, but a deep calm lurked in his eyes.

Sword Douluo Chen Xin stood silently behind him, his silver hair and ancient robes concealing his slightly closed eyes.

Ning Fengzhi nodded slightly to the manager: "It's alright. Tell me, what happened?"

The manager quickly composed himself and recounted the events of the Spirit Hall's forced entry.

Upon hearing this, Ning Fengzhi's gentle smile faded slightly, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

Before he could speak, Sword Douluo Chen Xin slowly opened his eyes.

His gaze, sharp as a tangible sword, coldly swept over the members of the Spirit Hall, instantly plunging them into an ice cellar, causing them to gasp for breath.

Ning Fengzhi's voice remained steady, yet carried the weight of a sect leader from one of the three upper sects: "The Spirit Hall forcibly entered the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's property and nearly injured our members. Do they think the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School is weak and easily bullied?"

Before he finished speaking, he lightly stomped his jeweled cane on the ground.

"Buzz—"

A deep and heavy fluctuation of soul power, not violent, spread out like a ripple.

At the same time, Chen Xin gently tapped the scabbard in his robes with his thumb.

"Clang—"

A soft yet incredibly crisp sword sound rang out.

The Seven Kill Sword was not fully drawn; only a small section of its blade was exposed, yet it unleashed a terrifying sword intent that stung the skin, instantly locking onto the leading Spirit Hall Soul Emperor!

The Soul Emperor felt a fatal sense of crisis grip his throat, and cold sweat instantly soaked his back.

He had no doubt that if the other party made a single thought, he would be beheaded instantly!

'Damn it! Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo aren't in Heaven Dou City, what are they doing here?!' The Soul Emperor was terrified, the pressure immense.

Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin exchanged a silent glance, communicating telepathically.

'Fengzhi, the information is correct, that child was staying here before.'

'Uncle Sword, the Spirit Hall acted faster than expected. It seems they also discovered the child's value, and they came with some resolute purpose.'

'What do you plan to do?'

'The Spirit Hall people cannot die on our territory, causing trouble. But let them go first, we'll observe. If they really intend to kill, we can 'timely' intervene. A timely act of kindness might become a key bargaining chip for recruiting that child in the future.'

'Agreed.'

The two secretly agreed, the suffocating pressure around them quietly receding.

Ning Fengzhi's refined yet slightly aloof smile returned, as if the previous questioning had never occurred: "You gentlemen have come with great force; what brings you here? If you are searching for someone or something, I might be able to offer my humble assistance."

His words were grand and righteous, yet they caused the Spirit Emperor of the Spirit Hall's lips to twitch slightly.

He cursed the old fox inwardly, realizing that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School had likely also discovered that genius youth and intended to recruit him!

He absolutely could not let them succeed!

Otherwise, decades later, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School might gain another top-tier fighter!

Since he couldn't be recruited into the Spirit Hall, he had to be completely eliminated before the youth grew stronger!

For Bishop Salas, for His Holiness the Pope, for the Spirit Hall!

Even if it cost him his life, he had to eliminate this potentially enormous threat!
