Chapter 71 - Chapter 71 Hidden Soul Rings, Suspicious Tang San.

Fourth floor of the dormitory building at Notting Academy.

Afternoon sunlight streamed into the room through the windows.

Inside the Hall of Ten Thousand Mirrors,

Dongfang Jing and Dongfang Yao sat back-to-back, cross-legged, their soul power flowing around them.

Having just finished nourishing themselves in the Mirror Spring of Light, the impurities and turbidity within their bodies had been cleared, and they could clearly feel their soul power flowing as pure and smooth as a clear spring.

In other words, their control over their soul power had reached a new level!

Three soul rings—purple, black, and purple—slowly appeared around Dongfang Jing, then gradually disappeared under his precise control, until only the Shattered Mirror Martial Soul remained suspended in the air, without any trace of the soul rings.

He truly achieved a state where no soul rings were visible, only the Shattered Mirror!

In contrast, Dongfang Yao seemed to be struggling, indicating that she was not skilled in the precise control of soul power.

She tried to conceal the purple soul ring of three Star Sword, fine beads of sweat appearing on her forehead, the color of the soul ring changing from purple to yellow.

Finally, she disappointedly relaxed her tense nerves.

The little girl looked back with some disappointment.

But Dongfang Jing looked relaxed, completely concealing his three spirit rings.

The difference between them made Dongfang Yao even more frustrated.

Although Dongfang Jing had his eyes closed, he could clearly sense his sister's emotional changes behind him.

So he encouraged her, "Yao'er, you've done a great job!"

"No way, I'm still far behind you, brother."

"Haha, you can't compare to me. I follow the agility-based attack route, focusing on concentrating spirit power at one point for an extreme single-target burst, which is why I'm better at controlling spirit power. You, as a power-based attacker, need sharp attacks and destructive force."

"Now that you can control your spirit power and stabilize your spirit rings at yellow, you can conceal your special abilities and better adjust your spirit power output according to your opponent in actual combat, becoming more adept. So Yao'er, don't be discouraged!"

Encouraged by her brother, Dongfang Yao's mood brightened considerably.

Yes, her brother was so powerful, how could she compare?

She didn't aspire to be above her brother, but she would strive to be below him!

"Yes! Yao'er understands!"

Five months have passed in the blink of an eye.

Dongfang Yao joined the class midway through the semester, so for first-year students, the semester will end in two more months.

The siblings' lives at Notting Academy have become quite routine.

They meditate and train their bodies in the mornings. While Dongfang Yao attends classes, Dongfang Jing cultivates on the rooftop. In the afternoons, they train together in the Hall of Ten Thousand Mirrors. In the evenings, the older brother tutors his younger sister, and they continue meditating late into the night.

On rest days, they would stroll around the city, balancing work and rest.

This afternoon, Dongfang Jing sat cross-legged on the roof of the dormitory building, his gaze gently fixed on the garden below.

Dongfang Yao was playing with several newly acquainted classmates, her silvery laughter carried on the breeze.

Seeing her increasingly cheerful smile, Dongfang Jing felt that his decision to send her to school was absolutely correct.

Staying by his side, the little girl would inevitably harbor some secrets.

But in front of her peers, she was completely at ease.

His gaze shifted slightly, and a familiar figure appeared at the school gate.

Tang San had just returned from the blacksmith's shop, sweat still clinging to his forehead, his hands tightly gripping iron parts.

Through these days of secret observation,

Dongfang Jing discovered that this "protagonist" was indeed extraordinary; his behavior was nothing like that of a six-year-old.

For example, Tang San's martial soul.

These work-study students from Dormitory Seven, relying on the presence of Xiao Wu and Tang San, two one-ring soul masters, had been frequently picking fights with older students, insisting on taking them as their underlings.

Sometimes, Tang San would lend a hand.

He could easily lift and throw children larger than himself, use unpredictable movements to dodge attacks, or even release his spirit to control his opponent.

In Dongfang Jing's view, his spirit hadn't mutated; it was just ordinary Blue Silver Grass, only becoming more numerous and longer after absorbing spirit rings.

When they first met at the blacksmith shop, Dongfang Jing hadn't recognized him, mistaking his spirit for his pair of jade-white hands.

Now, Dongfang Jing was certain it was also a peculiar technique, seemingly capable of hardening the hands.

Furthermore, Tang San went to the blacksmith shop every day, and upon returning, he would secretly clutch his belt.

Sure enough, Tang San was now holding a piece of iron, clearly indicating his spirit tool's storage space was full, leaving no room to store it, hence the handheld grip.

'Cultivation techniques, eye techniques, footwork, hand techniques, forging techniques,'Dongfang Jing's eyes narrowed slightly.

He inadvertently glanced at the shadowy corner behind Tang San.

Each time he observed Tang San, Dongfang Jing would create a mirror image, then use the mirror body to split the spirit.

After being reduced to shattered mirror, all of Tang San's senses were amplified.

Therefore, Dongfang Jing always had a vague feeling that someone was secretly following Tang San.

An assassin?

Unlikely.

Tang San often acted alone, giving him many opportunities to strike; if he wanted to kill, he would have done so already.

'So, is it a protector lurking in the shadows? Or a guard?'

Just as Dongfang Jing closed his eyes, feigning sleep but actually observing Tang San,Tang San also seemed to sense something and raised his head, looking at the silver-haired boy on the rooftop.

He remembered his teacher telling him not to worry about the brother and sister.

A flicker of indifference crossed his eyes before he turned his gaze to the children playing in the garden.

Cheerful shouts of "Daddy, Mommy, Brother, Sister!" drifted from the room as the children played house.

A barely perceptible smirk played on Tang San's lips.

His teacher had told him that cultivation before the age of twenty determined a Soul Master's future. Reaching level thirty in Soul Power was a crucial threshold.

If he could cross that threshold before twenty, his future would be limitless!

These wealthy children had poor cultivation talent and immature minds. Instead of focusing on diligent cultivation, they wasted their time on childish games.

Their futures would ultimately be different from his.

In the garden,Dongfang Yao, playing the role of 'Second Sister,' was having a great time playing with her classmates.

A girl playing the 'eldest sister' suddenly clasped her hands together and asked curiously, "Second sister, I've actually wanted to ask you a very important question for a long time!"

"Go ahead and ask, eldest sister!"

"Um... does your brother have a good match?"

Before the 'eldest sister' could finish speaking, another girl playing the 'third sister' excitedly interjected, "Yes, yes! What's his name? How old is he? What does he like to eat? What level is his soul power?"

Several girls simultaneously glanced at Dongfang Jing on the roof.

Not only the girls, but the other boys were also very curious.

Dongfang Yao was taken aback at first. Brother?

She first looked at the boy playing the 'brother' next to her.

Then, following everyone's gaze, she saw them all craning their necks to look at Dongfang Jing, and then she understood.

She scratched her face sheepishly, "Sorry, I can't tell you about my brother without his permission. But his age is okay, he's three years older than me!"

The girls immediately looked disappointed, but then curiously pressed on, "Then he should be a student too, right? Why doesn't he attend classes? Is he a Soul Master?"

"Yes!" Dongfang Yao proudly puffed out her chest, "My brother is super smart, he doesn't need to go to school at all! He tutors me every day, and he's super amazing! There's nothing he can't do!"

She was filled with pride when she mentioned her brother.

"Pshaw! What's so great about him?" one girl retorted, unconvinced. "I have a brother too, my brother dares to go to the Soul Hunting Forest, would your brother dare?"

"Hmph! The mere Soul Hunting Forest, which is kept in captivity! My brother dares to go to sea! Would your brother dare?" Dongfang Yao was unconvinced, her brother was the most amazing!

"Go to sea?" The children were stunned.

They were inland, in a junior Soul Master academy, which obviously wouldn't teach about Sea Soul Masters, and they had never even heard of Han Hai City.

The word "go to sea" was beyond the children's understanding.

But the girl wasn't about to back down and started bragging: "My brother has two spirit rings! What about your brother?"

"My brother..." Dongfang Yao hesitated for a moment, "My brother is sought after by the Spirit Hall and all the major sects! What about your brother?"

"My brother earns 20 gold spirit coins a month!"

"My brother can earn 1 million gold spirit coins a day!"

"You're just bragging! My brother even drinks his own urine!"

"Your brother would do that? My brother would definitely drink my urine!"

"My brother would eat my shit!"

"My brother also..." Dongfang Yao suddenly stopped, looking at the classmates around her who were covering their mouths and snickering. The girl who had been arguing with her couldn't hold back any longer and burst into laughter.

Dongfang Yao immediately exploded: "You guys are messing with me!!"

She angrily pounced on them, laughing and joking with her friends.

Tang San hadn't left, but had been eavesdropping on their conversation.

He had originally thought he could hear Dongfang Jing's spirit power level, but the topic kept getting off track.

'Boring.' He thought to himself, shaking his head coldly.

Just as they were about to leave, they saw a large group of students from Dormitory 7 walking towards them.

Xiao Wu led the way, waving happily to Tang San, "Little San!"

Tang San walked over and asked, "Xiao Wu, what are you doing? So many people?"

Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the large group behind Xiao Wu wasn't just from Dormitory 7, but also included several other upperclassmen led by Xiao Chenyu.

Xiao Chenyu explained, "We've all been defeated by Sister Xiao Wu. From now on, she's the boss of Notting Academy! Everyone has to greet her, otherwise it's disrespectful to Sister Xiao Wu! We're just teaching her a lesson!"

Several upperclassmen cooperatively rolled up their sleeves, showing off their not-so-muscular physiques.

Xiao Wu proudly held her head high, clearly enjoying her new status as the boss of Notting Academy.

Tang San sighed helplessly, but seeing Xiao Wu's happy expression, he didn't say anything more.

In the garden, the children playing noticed the group and immediately tensed up.

A boy whispered, "It's those work-study students! I heard they've been acting all high and mighty lately, beating up several older students!"

"Let's run!" another boy suggested quietly.

But it was too late.

An older student spotted them and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Hey! You lot!"
