Chapter 34 - Chapter 32: Library

As he continued thinking, he took out the stone slab again. It felt weightless and ordinary, except that the material looked harder than normal stones.

"Then how did this get into our ancestral old weapon storage room?"

He wondered if the Lu family was truly a big ancient family, since the two techniques he got from the space were both Emperor-ranked techniques. It does not look like something the Lu Family can own.

Then he decided that, by the next morning, he would go and check the Lu Family archive records to see if he could find anything related to the stone. After that, he lay down, staring at his ceiling.

"This feels like a dream," he thought.

"I hope I don't wake up," he said as he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, the sun's rays shone onto the courtyard. Lu Haotian was sitting in a meditative posture, circulating his qi.

"This… I was circulating my qi," he realized.

"My cultivation was definitely not a dream."

"My cultivation speed is faster."

He now felt the miracle and effect of heaven-grade spirit roots.

"My cultivation speed now is definitely the best in this place," he thought, "but I definitely need to be cautious."

If he allowed anyone to know about his cultivation or what he had experienced, he would definitely face problems.

Then he used the veiled ring to lower his cultivation level back to the 5th layer of Qi Condensation. Then he left his courtyard.

This time around, he didn't look awkward at all. He now walked with confidence, but he still looked meek.

He then went to the library. The last time he was here, he had been pulled back by bad thoughts, and he had been sad at that time. But now he could not even express how happy he was.

He pushed the door open, looking at the hall, which still looked the same as last time. Of course, the second floor was still off-limits.

Not like he needed it anyway—he now had the two Emperor-ranked techniques, which were far better than any earth-rank techniques that the Lu Family had. He was mainly here today to check the history of the Lu clan, basically.

"Who is there?" Lu Haotian turned his head to the right. There he saw the same elder who was also there the first time they came to pick techniques.

"What are you here for?" He could feel it now through his qi sense—the elder must be in Foundation Establishment, mid-stages.

"The library is off-limits for now."

"Elder, I'm sorry. I'm only here today to browse the history archive section."

"Oh, is that so? You can go, but do not make any noise or take anything."

"Yes, Elder," Lu Haotian said. The library is always accessible to clan members, at least the first floor.

So for him to be chased out the moment he entered—that meant someone very important was present there. But that didn't affect him. He moved to the History section.

At first, he only wanted to see the Lu family section, but now, seeing the amount of books in this section, he decided he wouldn't leave the library until he was done with them. He went toward the Lu family section. There he learned the Lu family has only existed for about 800 years. The Lu family...is currently on its 6th generation. The Lu family's original patriarch was a cultivator in the Nascent Soul realm—that was why he was able to dominate the Heiyan City and carve out a share for the Lu Family in the city. But he later passed away. By then, the next generation of the Lu family was already at Core Formation.

Since then, they've never gone beyond that. But that was enough to maintain the status quo of the Lu family in the Heiyan City alongside other clans. No wonder the clan prioritized nurturing the twins properly—they were able to join a powerful sect. Both might reach the Void Step realm with their earth-grade spirit roots.

He was still immersed in the library when he heard footsteps from the second floor. He saw three people and one old man he didn't know, but the pressure he felt from the old man... The pressure was not deliberate; it seemed like it was always there around the man.

"Oh, if it isn't the clan jewel," Lu Chenpeng jested.

"Greetings, Patriarch," Lu Haotian said. He ignored Chenpeng and instead greeted the patriarch.

"Clan Leader, is this another talent the Lu Family has discovered?" the old elder asked.

"No, Supreme Elder," said Lu Haoyan. Then the patriarch explained to the old man.

While he was explaining, Lu Haotian was a little shocked. Supreme Elder! No wonder the pressure was so intense—he was the only Nascent Soul cultivator in the Lu family.

"Oh, so it is mixed spirit roots," he said with a dismissing look. "Hmmm, 5th layer of Qi Condensation." You've worked hard —make sure you continue." Then he left the building.

The patriarch said, "That trash will always be trash. Before long, I will be in Foundation Establishment—a level you will struggle to reach with your trash roots."

After that, he left.

"They must have been here to take or check earth-ranked techniques again."

But he thought of something—which was the Supreme Elder. The old man was in seclusion.

He was doing the whole process of them testing for their spirit roots.

"He must be out of seclusion now."

He didn't dwell much on it; he continued what he was doing.
