Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Bronya's Challenge, Stigma Reward

"Sigh~ what an unforgettable day. If Kiana could just stop being so lazy and sleep a few minutes less in class, she would surely become such a strong Valkyrie."

Himeko yawned. After watching Yunduo's twist-filled challenge, she felt mentally exhausted.

She had been inexplicably dragged into the space by Theresa, only to suddenly learn that she was dead.

If she hadn't been sober today, she would definitely have thought this was all a dream.

"Aunt Himeko, I can do it! I already said I'm going to become the strongest Valkyrie!"

Kiana looked indignant, raising her small fist and clenching it in her palm.

"Idiot Kiana, don't think you can do it just because you watched Sister Yunduo's performance. You haven't even completed a single mission yet."

Bronya silently added a finishing blow, her eyes looking as if she were staring at a fool.

In fact, no matter the time, Kiana was always a naive idiot in her eyes.

"...Actually, it's nothing. Making those choices was driven by Kiana's Remembrance. If you were to go in, you could do all this too. You just need to remember in your subconscious to follow what I did just now."

Yunduo shook her head, unable to take their praise.

"It's still very impressive. You saved the millions of people in Sky Dome City. It was so cool. It's a pity everyone can only challenge once a day, otherwise I would want to try again," Kiana said regretfully.

"Right, Bronya, and Mei, Aunt, Aunt Himeko, you should all go and try the challenge."

"This challenge mission should be a bit easier than the last one."

"That Everlasting Flames mission was just too hard. Beating the Herrscher of Domination... it feels impossible no matter how I think about it."

Kiana urged the hesitant group.

"Me? I won't go. Failing the mission means suffering Honkai Energy erosion. You're all Herrschers, but I'm just an ordinary Valkyrie, so I'll pass."

Himeko sighed, her tone tinged with a bit of regret.

Her body couldn't hold out for many more years; she couldn't afford the penalty of a failed challenge.

"Alright then, Aunt Himeko is out. What about you guys?"

Kiana nodded in understanding, then turned her gaze toward the whistling Theresa.

"Aunt, you should be able to, right? Didn't you say you were super, super brave?"

"Who—who said that! I said Theresa is the world's number one cutest! Don't go talking nonsense about being brave," Theresa said, turning her head away.

"What's there to be afraid of? I feel like this Challenge Space is just like acting in a movie," Kiana shrugged. "Once you enter, you'll inherit the character's memories and emotions. You won't be running around like a headless fly. Just think of yourself as an actress."

"Going inside is just experiencing my feelings, and the choices you make are subconscious. Don't worry about us seeing you, because once you're in, you won't even know we exist."

"Eh~ is that so?" Theresa realized belatedly, looking at the pensive Yunduo.

"...Yes, I only just found out myself. I got the answer after asking the Challenge Space."

Yunduo nodded silently.

Kiana seemed a bit dim-witted, but she was really just too lazy to think. She had only challenged twice and had already guessed it.

"So that's how it is..."

Not far away, Fu Hua had an epiphany. No wonder Yunduo performed exactly like the Kiana from a few years in the future.

It wasn't because she was from a parallel world, but because she carried the memories and emotions after entering the Challenge Space.

The choices made were simply the subconscious of her soul itself.

But even so, it was still quite impressive.

An average person wouldn't subconsciously risk sacrifice to save Sky Dome City. "The break time in the middle, which is when you receive the background prompts, is when your sealed memories are temporarily returned," Yunduo added.

"If it's subconscious, then I'll pass."

Hearing this, Mei took two steps back, lacking confidence. She knew her own personality; when faced with choices involving sacrifice, she would definitely be indecisive.

"Then what about Bronya? And Class Monitor, do you want to try?"

Kiana looked at the two of them.

"Bronya will try first." The brave Bronya-ya was not afraid of difficulties and took the initiative to propose.

No one tried to stop her; after all, a successful challenge would grant a reward.

With a flash of white light, Bronya entered the Challenge Space to undergo the second act.

"Act Two: Skyfire Meteor!"

"Challenger: Bronya."

A mechanical voice echoed within the space.

Meanwhile, Yunduo sat to the side, quietly watching Bronya's challenge along with the others.

In the footage, when Bronya faced the choice regarding the mother and daughter, she calmly walked away.

The Silver Wolf did not have much emotion for strangers.

Thus, she naturally did not use any Honkai Energy, and the Herrscher of the Void did not awaken.

The first task was completed directly.

"Bronya is so cold. If I were in danger, would she just run away too?" Kiana shivered.

"Don't worry, Bronya treats you completely differently than she treats strangers."

Mei gave a gentle smile.

Afterward.

When the scene shifted to the second task: Saving Sky Dome.

Bronya did not choose to throw the about-to-explode engine out of the Earth. Instead, she found a deserted area and quickly discarded the engine there.

In her subconscious, she only needed to protect the people of Sky Dome City; the pollution caused by the remaining Honkai Energy probably didn't matter.

The two tasks were completed cleanly and efficiently.

As expected of an ace assassin, she didn't waste any time and cared only about the results.

The white light flashed again, and Bronya, looking as if she had just experienced a new life, appeared before everyone in a daze.

"It was finished that quickly? Time goes by so fast." She blinked her gray eyes and tilted her head in confusion.

"Yeah, once you're in, you lose track of yourself, so of course time feels fast. Anyway, the challenge is complete."

"Still, why does it feel a bit off..." Kiana complained with a forehead full of black lines.

"It's fine. Everyone's subconscious is different, so the choices they make are naturally different too. As long as the result is good, it's fine."

Saying this, Theresa leaned in close to Bronya and asked curiously, "Bronya-chan~ what was your reward?"

"Reward? It's a set of Stigma: [Hannah]."

Bronya spoke truthfully.

"Eh? It's actually a Stigma?" Theresa was surprised.

One must know that besides natural Stigmata, which have a one-in-a-million probability, there were only Schicksal's artificial Stigmata.

However, due to the lack of "original" Stigmata from historical heroic souls,

artificial Stigmata were incomplete and brought massive side effects, with an extremely high death rate.

The existence of a full set of Stigmata was incredibly rare; one could hardly be found among ten million people!

"Hannah... do you know what use it has?" Theresa asked again.

"It can increase attack damage. A full set increases attack damage by 30%, melee damage by 15%, and movement speed by 15%. If Kiana is equipped with it, she can gain an additional 5% defense."

"That... that much?!!"

Kiana was green with envy.
