The atmosphere at the Watson mansion was unusually quiet, which usually meant the boys were up to no good. But today, the silence was because of Jay-jay. She had spent the last two hours in the kitchen, her hands shaking slightly as she prepared a special "Welcome Home" dinner
In her pocket, the positive pregnancy test felt like it was glowing. She hadn't told a soul—not even Keifer, who had been watching her like a hawk all day.
Jay, you've been in here for too long," Keifer said, leaning against the kitchen doorframe. His eyes were narrowed in that protective way that usually made her heart melt, but today it made her nervous. "You're still pale. Sit down. I'll have the chef finish this
I'm fine, Keifer! Just... go get the boys," Jay-jay said, ushering him out. "Dinner is ready. I have a surprise
The Section E boys piled into the dining room with their usual chaotic energy. Ci-N was trying to balance a spoon on his nose, while Felix and David were arguing over who won their last sparring match in London.
Keifer sat at the head of the table, his gaze fixed on Jay-jay. He knew something was up. She wasn't eating her favorite adobo, and she seemed to be glowing despite her exhaustion.
Okay, Mutya," Josh chirped, poking his rice. "You said there was a surprise. Did you get us those limited edition gaming chairs? Or did the Boss finally agree to buy us a private jet
Jay-jay stood up, her heart thumping against her ribs. She looked at the boys—the family she had fought so hard to keep together. Then she looked at Keifer, who looked ready to call a doctor if she didn't speak in the next five seconds.
"I have a gift for all of you," Jay-jay said, her voice steadying. She pulled out a small, wrapped box and placed it in front of Keifer. "But Keifer has to open it first."
Keifer frowned, his long fingers carefully tearing the silver paper. He opened the box and froze
Inside wasn't a watch or a pen. It was a tiny, white baby onesie with the words "Property of Section E" printed on the front in bold black letters. Tucked underneath was the medical report from the clinic.
The table went dead silent. Felix stopped mid-sentence. Ci-N's spoon fell off his nose and clattered onto his plate.
Keifer picked up the tiny piece of clothing, his eyes wide. He looked at the paper, then back at Jay-jay. "Jay... is this... a joke?"
"No joke, Keifer," she whispered, her eyes filling with tears. "We're having a baby."
For three seconds, Keifer looked like he had been struck by lightning. Then, he stood up so fast his chair flipped over. He didn't say a word—he just lunged for Jay-jay, pulling her into a hug so tight yet so careful, as if she were made of glass.
"A baby," he breathed into her hair, his voice cracking with an emotion he never showed anyone else. "We're... I'm going to be a father?"
"YES!" Ci-N suddenly screamed, jumping onto the dining table. "WE'RE HAVING A BABY! SECTION E IS GETTING A NEW MEMBER!"
"Get off the table, you idiot!" Felix shouted, though he was grinning like a madman, his eyes suspiciously watery. He walked over and squeezed Keifer's shoulder. "Congratulations, Boss. You finally did something right."
"I'm going to be the coolest uncle," David declared, already pulling out his phone. "I need to order a baby-sized laptop. And a crib with a built-in firewall."
"I'll teach the kid how to prank people!" Josh added, while Eman and Calix started cheering "WATSON! WATSON! WATSON!"
Amidst the shouting and the boys trying to decide if the baby should learn Taekwondo or Hacking first, Keifer pulled Jay-jay away into the hallway.
He cupped her face, his thumb brushing away a stray tear. The "Cold King" was gone; in his place was a man who looked like he had just been handed the entire world.
"You're sure you're okay?" he asked, his voice low and intense. "The nausea, the paleness... it was this?"
"It was this," she smiled. "I didn't want to tell you until I was sure. I didn't want you to worry."
"I'm always going to worry about you, Jay," he whispered, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss to her forehead. "But now... I have even more reason to keep this family safe. I promise you, nothing will ever hurt our little one."
Jay-jay leaned into him, listening to the boys' laughter from the other room. She hadn't told him about the possibility of twins yet—she didn't even know herself—but for now, the joy of one was enough to fill the entire mansion.
The war was over. The legacy was just beginning.
