The atmosphere in the private wing of the Watson Medical Center was thick with tension—but mostly from Keifer. He was pacing the small examination room, looking more nervous than he did when he was taking down the Mafia.
Jay-jay sat on the edge of the bed, swinging her legs. "Keifer, sit down. You're making the nurse dizzy."
"I just want to make sure the equipment is top-of-the-line," Keifer muttered, adjusting his tie for the tenth time.
Suddenly, the door burst open. Felix, Ci-N, David, and the rest of Section E piled in, all wearing "Visitor" badges they had definitely printed themselves.
"Get out," Keifer snapped. "This is a private medical procedure."
"We are the honorary uncles, Boss! We have a right to see the 'New Recruit'!" Ci-N argued, squeezing into a corner next to a very confused-looking ultrasound machine.
The doctor entered, chuckling at the chaos. "Alright, everyone, settle down. Let's see how the little Watson is doing."
She applied the cold gel to Jay-jay's stomach, and the room went dead silent. Even Ci-N stopped chewing his gum. As the transducer moved, a rhythmic, galloping sound filled the room.
Thump-thump, thump-thump.
"There's the heartbeat," the doctor smiled. "Strong and steady."
Keifer's face softened. He looked like he was about to cry. But then, the doctor's brow furrowed. She moved the wand to the left, and another sound emerged.
Thump-thump, thump-thump.
The doctor paused, moving back and forth between two spots. "Wait... why am I hearing two heartbeats?"
Jay-jay froze. "Two? Like... an echo?"
"No," the doctor beamed, turning the screen toward them. "Congratulations. It's not an echo. You're having twins."
The room exploded. Ci-N started doing a victory dance, and Felix actually dropped his jaw. But Keifer? Keifer didn't faint. He didn't even blink. He just stared at the two tiny flickering dots on the screen with a look of extreme, calculated focus.
"Twins," Keifer whispered.
"Yeah, Boss! Two of them!" Josh cheered. "What are you gonna call them?"
Keifer stood up straight, his face becoming completely serious, like he was announcing a new corporate merger. "I've already decided. If it's two... I shall name them Caretaker and Watcher."
The entire room went silent.
Jay-jay blinked, her mouth falling open. "I'm sorry... what? Caretaker? Like a janitor? And Watcher? Like a security guard?"
"They will be the protectors of the Watson Legacy," Keifer explained solemnly, as if it were the most logical thing in the world. "Caretaker will manage the foundations, and Watcher will oversee the security. It's practical."
For three seconds, everyone thought he was joking. But then they saw his face—he was 100% serious.
"BAHAHAHAHA!" Ci-N was the first to break, falling onto the floor in a fit of giggles. "Caretaker?! You want to name a baby Caretaker?! Why not just name the third one 'Gardener' or 'Driver'?!"
"Watcher?!" Felix roared with laughter, slapping his knee. "Boss, you've been in the Mafia business too long! They're babies, not CCTV cameras!"
"I can see the headlines now," David wheezed, clutching his stomach. "'The Great Watson Twins: Mr. Janitor and Mr. Bodyguard'!"
Even the doctor was hiding her face behind her clipboard, her shoulders shaking.
Jay-jay looked at Keifer, who was looking genuinely offended that his "heroic" names were being mocked. "Keifer, honey... we are not naming our children after job descriptions. Over my dead body."
But it sounds professional," Keifer argued, though a small, embarrassed flush was creeping up his neck.
"It sounds like a horror movie duo!" Jay-jay laughed, finally joining in as she wiped a tear from her eye.
The sound of Section E's laughter filled the clinic, echoing down the hallways. The "Cold King" had just met his match—not in a rival gang, but in the absurdity of fatherhood.
