Chapter 2 - Heavenly Guidance

Ren's vision became dark instantly, and then came the monster's powerful bites on his body, grinding him, intending on ripping him apart, and to smaller pieces. Pain surged across his body, right from his head to his legs, the chomp had encompassed the entirety of his body, and he ought to be nothing but mush now, but although he felt the pain, he was still very much alive.

Another strong chomp, and again, he moaned weakly in pain, before the dinosaur monster moved him down with its tongue to swallow.

[Body of Mion: 3 minutes, 12 seconds]

He had almost passed out from the pain, an impervious body did not mean an unfeeling one. He felt himself go down a muscular tube, and then fall into a lake. The bites had been powerful, and skull crushing but nothing comparable to the pain of being in the creature's stomach acid. It burned, his torn clothes getting furtherly degraded. He floated to the top where he could feel the walls of the stomach tighten around him, he could feel its warmness and slickness. The odor was suffocating, and just as terrible as one could imagine the stomach of such a monster would smell.

He struggled to breathe as it turned out that stomachs had very poor deposits of oxygen. However, now was not the time to feel pain, not the time to feel discomfort.

[Body of Mion: 2 minutes, 54 seconds]

He prayed that this Mion god was as strong as he was durable, and he found a spot which he felt deserving of the force he was about to unleash. He exhaled, balling his fist, and then drove down his right fist with everything he had.

The creature's abdomen erupted, spilling out gastric juice, and Ren butt naked. It wailed, holding Ren in its gaze for a few seconds, almost like it was in disbelief, and then it slumped and died.

The briefly godlike man soon got on his feet and took a deep inhale of the fresh air, he caught a whiff of the juices on him and squeezed his face in disgust, the situation had made him numb to the smell, but now, he desperately needed a bath.

The dinosaur laid in front of the pen, blood spilling from both orifices, and from the gaping wound Ren had just made. He squeezed his face looking at the corpse in disgust, and walked towards it. He felt its scaly legs, glancing at the warm blood that was forming a puddle now. It had been a real beast alright.

[Body of Mion: 25 seconds]

Again the strange tab reminded him of the time he had left, twenty five seconds left as a superman. He turned his head from his livestock and the corpse a couple of times wondering what he needed to do next.

'I should get this off the road.'

He grappled the dinosaur's large tail, and pulled the corpse away from the path to the pen. Ren struggled to describe the sensation at which he could pull the dinosaur, the brief power that not only had him survive the encounter, but even thrive. He did not feel a sudden surge in confidence or power, no drumming sensation that made him feel that he was powerful. He was just like himself, except he was able to drag a creature a hundred times his weight.

Pulling the dinosaur felt like he was pulling a rope, it was light like a feather in his hands, weightless.

'Is it safe to leave this here?' He had dragged it further away from his home, and the pen but it was still in his land. A corpse as large as this could attract some unfriendly scavengers, and there was the smell that it would make when it rotted.

"I should have flung it." He had exhausted the body of Mion, and felt that he could not lift the creature's tail any longer, much less drag it.

In this state of worry, and confusion, the voice he had heard upon arriving at this same place reached out to him.

"Lucky bastard, but then, all those chosen by the gods are lucky bastards."

[You have successfully finished the opening act.]

The message popped up clearly in his mind. His face crumpled in discomfort, anymore, and he was sure he would suffer a migraine.

The voice rang in his mind, and also felt like it played all around him in a resounding echo, one that he would drown in if he wasn't careful.

"Who are you?! What are you?!" Ren was done feeling trapped and afraid, and he had just done what no human was capable of doing and it had made him confident, if only shortly.

A loud bratty laughter followed.

"You really want to get to know me? I must say I love your enthusiasm, most simply tend to be too afraid to demand I reveal myself, I must seem like a damning monster."

As soon as those words were spoken, a sparkle of light shone just inches away from Ren's face.

"Tada! Enoa the angel!"

The thing that hovered in front of him was not what Ren would describe as an angel. It was white like how angels were often described, but it was small, it was no taller than Ren's head to his shoulder. That was not the only difference however, the books Ren read as a child did not describe angels as having fur whereas, Enoa was covered in fur, white fur that hid all but its eyes, horns and pink little hands. It had red eyes that were unsettling, as they seemed to be like lakes of blood. Its lips were also red, almost like it wore lipstick. Most of its face was behind a veil of fur, and although it claimed to be an angel, Ren could only describe this so-called angel as a wicked looking thing. It did have wings however, not white feathery wings, but bat wings that looked to be made of gold.

"Messenger of the gods." It announced in giddy excitement, clearly expecting a certain reaction from Ren who simply looked at it wide-eyed. The moon's glow on its white gave it an even more ethereal feeling that ought to spook Ren, but he was not spooked, far from it.

"Well…" With its small hands by its waist, it looked expectantly, prompting Ren to speak, "I expected a bratty girl to appear, you sounded like such."

A vein popped on the angel's forehead, but it masked its annoyance with a wide smile at Ren exposing its entire teeth in a way that seemed both threatening and friendly.

Ren backsteppped. Not only did this creature intrude his mind, it was aware of what had transpired on his appearance to this

strange place.

'A messenger of the gods you say.'

"What message do you have? Will you help me out of here?" Ren already knew that the second question was unlikely to get a positive answer, the creature seemed already thrilled by his appearance here.

"Message? Of course, I am nothing but a messenger, and I take my job very seriously. The second question however, you know the answer to that already, I am far from being your savior." Its mouth got inflated suddenly, it was holding a laugh.

"Well, what message do you have?"

"Yes, I'm here to guide you. As one of those given the super rare chance of getting a class, I've been assigned to help you make the best decision."

[Congratulations, you have defeated the monster Cain, and protected the Alpha ram, and the rest of the herd.]

[You have earned a lucky roll]

"That can wait." Enoa cut in.

"You can see it?"

"If the gods let me, yes." It responded.

With a wave of its hand, a large interface tab appeared between them, revealing certain options.

"Although you were summoned by a mage, the gods take you under their wing, and are curious of your fate, as one unbound by the forces of this world.

You have survived the opening act, and therefore, you are made a resident of this world. You are bestowed the great honor of wielding a class, and these are the classes the gods have ordained you choose from, those that seem the most fitting of your personality and character."

"Hold on, hold on! A class? What's that?"

Enoa cast him a mean side eye stare, hardly anyone had been so calm in her presence.

"Ah, another one that's unfamiliar. I have to stop assuming everyone is from the same timeline. You see, most that get here, due to the gods' infinite wisdom and thought out decisions, assimilate their positions quickly, many of them being familiar with classes, and stats as they've learnt from video games and books. Occasionally, we get ones like you, oblivious and a dimwit, and I have to do all the explaining."

Ren could only frown in displeasure.

"A class is like an option, a category that highlights one's abilities and strengths, and expands upon it." She explained, and then looked to his farm, and then turned back to him.

"See, you are a farmer, in a sense, that's already a class. You'll catch on."

Enoa cleared her throat, "Now, let's get on with the classes now."

His stats hung boldly on the interface along with some other options.

"Which will it be Ren Hanaki?" Enoa asked with her hands on her waist, projecting the image of a strict HR manager.
