Indhu's POV
The excitement started the moment the morning announcement echoed through the corridors.
"Every class must prepare a short play. Five students per class. Performances will be held this Friday."
I felt it immediately—the buzz, the thrill, that familiar spark. Class 10-B exploded with ideas, voices overlapping, everyone suddenly a director or actor. And then the teacher added the words that sealed our fate.
"V5, you'll be representing our class."
Cheers erupted around us. I turned toward Rohan just in time to see him pretending to stay calm, even though his grin completely betrayed him.
"Us? Again?" he whispered.
I smiled. "Of course us. We'll make it unforgettable."
The brainstorming began instantly.
"Aladdin!" I blurted out first. Magic, songs, flying carpets—how could anyone resist that?
Swetha's eyes lit up. "I could totally be Jasmine."
Charlotte joined in, already visualizing the stage. "Or Cinderella—just imagine the lighting—"
"NO Cinderella," Rohan interrupted dramatically. "Last time, I was the horse. Never again."
Aditya smirked. "You'd make a great pumpkin this time."
I laughed with the rest of them, until Aditya leaned back casually and said, "What about Rapunzel?"
Everyone paused.
"Rapunzel?" Swetha repeated.
Aditya turned and looked straight at me. "Indhu's perfect for it. Just look at her hair."
All eyes shifted to me. I felt my cheeks heat up instantly. My hair had betrayed me.
"…Okay," I said finally, sighing. "But only if Rohan isn't the horse again."
I should've known better.
The decision was made.
Casting the Chaos
Somehow, it all fell perfectly into place.
I became Rapunzel—apparently long hair equals destiny.
Aditya claimed Flynn Rider before anyone could stop him.
Swetha took Mother Gothel, with a smile that already felt dangerous.
Charlotte chose Pascal, promising to "add her own magic."
And Rohan…
Rohan became Maximus the horse.
His groan echoed through the classroom, but we all knew it suited him too well.
The Day of the Play
Standing on stage, under the bright auditorium lights, my heart raced—but not with fear. With excitement.
The cardboard tower stood behind me as I delivered my line, "When will my life begin…?"
Giggles rippled through the audience.
Then Swetha stormed in, cloaked in black, fully committed. "Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Stay in your tower!"
Her glare was so dramatic that even teachers laughed. I crossed my arms and shot back, "But Mother Gothel, I want to see the world outside!"
"Outside?" she stretched the word wickedly. "Do you want your hair to get split ends?!"
The hall erupted.
Then Aditya swaggered onto the stage, bowing like he owned the place. "Ladies and gentlemen, the most handsome thief is here!"
When he looked up at my braid and gasped, "Is that… WOOL?!" I nearly lost it.
I tossed the braid down anyway. He pretended to climb, groaning, then dramatically fell into the tower.
Charlotte rushed in next, hands taped with green paper. "Don't trust him!" she squeaked as Pascal.
The audience was already in stitches.
And then—
Rohan.
On all fours.
Neighing.
Galloping.
Someone in the front row almost fell off their chair.
Aditya pointed at him. "Oh no! The royal horse!"
I grabbed the cardboard frying pan and tapped Aditya lightly. He collapsed in slow motion. "Tell my fans… I was fabulous!"
Thunderous applause filled the hall.
The Twist
Just when we thought it was over, Swetha stepped forward and improvised.
"Rapunzel, you are mine forever!"
I gasped dramatically. "No! I choose freedom!"
Rohan neighed louder, Charlotte jumped onto Aditya yelling "Chameleon attack!" and Aditya stood up, shouting, "Let history remember this as the tale of… Rapunzel!"
The curtain fell to roaring laughter and claps so loud my chest felt warm.
After Everything
Backstage, we collapsed in a laughing mess.
"That was chaos," Charlotte gasped.
"The best kind," I said, wiping tears from my eyes.
Swetha flicked her cloak proudly. "Did you hear my villain laugh?"
"You mean how hard they laughed at it?" Rohan teased.
Aditya smirked. "Legendary."
Before we changed, I pulled out my camera. "One photo."
Rapunzel. Flynn. Gothel. Pascal. Maximus.
That picture wasn't just a memory—it was proof. Of friendship, madness, teamwork, and the magic that only V5 could create.
And I knew, even then—
This was one of those moments I'd never forget.
