Chapter 117 - Chapter 116: Movies That Only Need Two or Three Actors to Finish!

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Director Martin snapped back to reality:

"Cut!"

His voice was shaking slightly. "Perfect! That emotion was exactly right! Cass, what you just did... my god... Keira, your reaction off that was brilliant!"

He still wanted more. "We'll keep that take. Let's go again. Camera, make sure to catch a tight close-up on Keira's hands—that hesitation of wanting to touch him but pulling back!"

For the rest of the shoot, Cassius was on fire.

His Level 4 Emotion attribute allowed him to hit every psychological shift of the character perfectly.

Layered and naturally transitioned.

And Keira Knightley was completely pulled into the scene with him.

Her performance was equally stunning.

She believably conveyed Lindsey's journey from a detached observer, to an ordinary person dragged into a supernatural event, to a partner deciding to fight by his side.

A strange chemistry sparked between her and Cassius.

That trust and subtle affection built in the midst of a crisis was incredibly moving.

Several highly difficult emotional scenes were shot surprisingly smoothly!

What was scheduled for two days was mostly knocked out in one, at peak quality!

By wrap time, Director Martin was practically glowing.

He spoke into the walkie-talkie: "Early wrap today! Great job, everyone! Cass, Keira, your state today was flawless!"

Keira let out a long breath.

She took a sip of water from her assistant, then looked at Cassius, who was taking off his lavalier mic. Her eyes were full of wonder.

"Cass, you're improving way too fast!"

She walked over, dropping her voice low. "Yesterday you were still learning how to layer emotions, and today it felt like you were teaching me!"

Her tone was full of admiration.

Cassius smiled, wiping away the tear tracks left over from the scene. "That's because you're a great teacher, and it's easy to get absorbed acting opposite you!"

[Keira Knightley Favorability +3. Current Favorability: 65]

Gina didn't have any scenes today, but she swung by the set to watch.

She crossed her arms, talking to the action coordinator who walked over. "This kid is this intense in dramatic scenes too? I watched his confession scene this morning, gave me goosebumps."

The action coordinator sighed. "Some people are just force-fed talent by God. He learns choreography absurdly fast, and he shoots emotional scenes terrifyingly fast too."

The shoot progressed steadily.

The dramatic scene phase wrapped.

The fight scenes between Cassius and Gina entered a new stage.

From the initial one-sided beatdowns disguised as training, Cassius could now actually hold his own against her.

His movements were cleaner and crisper. His timing for dodges and counterattacks was getting better and better.

Occasionally, within the choreographed framework, he'd improvise unexpected, unorthodox ways to neutralize her attacks, making both Gina and the action coordinator's eyes light up every time.

"Cass, where'd you learn that sidestep-spin into an elbow strike you did yesterday?"

Gina asked, wiping sweat. "It doesn't look like standard martial arts, but using it to squeeze out from between those storage racks was a stroke of genius."

Cassius chugged some water and replied casually, "Probably just a survival reflex my body figured out from getting beat up so much."

Gina rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide her smile.

Gina's favorability had climbed to 75.

She now treated Cassius entirely as an equal sparring partner and co-creator.

The attribute orbs dropping from her were getting higher and higher in quality.

[Combat Anticipation +10]

[Instant Explosive Power Technique +8]

Cassius absorbed these attributes, rapidly converting them into fuel for his own combat abilities.

Next up was a scene where the protagonist had to deal with two advanced training bots arranged by Instructor Sierra in an energy distortion zone on Oa. This scene had complex choreography, extremely demanding blocking, and heavy wirework.

Cassius wore a tight mocap suit covered in tracking dots. Suspended in mid-air by wires, he had to execute a series of spins, kicks, and momentum-assisted dodges.

After the first take, the moves were completed, but Director Martin frowned behind the monitor.

"Cass, the action is fine, but it lacks that raw, unpolished feel."

Martin called through the megaphone. "You're too smooth right now, like a professional stuntman. The protagonist is still progressing. We need to see that transition from clumsy to fluid!"

Cassius was lowered down, panting, mulling over the director's words.

He was indeed getting a bit too proficient!

His constantly growing Body Language attribute made controlling his body increasingly effortless, but as a result, he was neglecting the character's actual state.

He had to show the capability of growth while retaining the unpolished clumsiness inherent to the character.

It was a tough balance to strike.

He closed his eyes.

Recalling the control of his near Level 4 Body Language attribute, he then engaged the nuanced perception brought by his Emotion attribute, trying to simulate that specific feeling.

Take two.

This time, when the wires spun Cassius in the air, he didn't deliberately aim for perfect, beautiful execution.

Instead, he added a slight, almost out-of-control wobble to his body, as if he was struggling to adapt to and fight against the momentum.

His kicks were powerful, but his recovery carried an almost imperceptible clumsiness and need for adjustment.

When landing, he even purposefully let himself stumble slightly before quickly stabilizing.

A flash of panic crossed Cassius's eyes, instantly replaced by intense focus.

"Cut! Good! That's the feeling!"

Martin's excited voice rang out. "Keep that! Let's go again!"

The moment the director yelled "Cut," Cassius felt a slight tremor run through his muscles like an electric current. A profound sense of microscopic control welled up inside him.

A purple attribute orb dropped from his body:

[Body Control +8]

Cassius quickly absorbed it!

The system notification lit up simultaneously:

[Body Language Attribute Leveled Up! Current Level: Lv4 (5/800)]

Unlike the qualitative shift in internal perception when his Emotion leveled up, after his Body Language leveled up, Cassius felt his ability to engage every single muscle and joint reach an unprecedented level.

Exerting and retracting force was effortless. Coordination improved further, and even his tolerance for pain and fatigue seemed to increase.

He felt he had found a trace of the sensation from when he used the Body Language halo.

Of course, compared to a maxed-out Body Language attribute, this feeling was still a long way off!

Cassius stood in place, lightly flexing his fingers, wrists, and ankles. Every minute movement radiated an effortless precision.

The muscle soreness from shooting earlier was also rapidly fading.

"Cass? Spacing out? Get ready for the next shot!"

The AD's shout pulled him back to reality.

"Coming!"

Cassius replied, walking quickly to his mark.

He could feel the gazes of several stuntmen and Gina on him.

For some inexplicable reason, they felt Cassius looked even sharper and more energized.

The subsequent shoot felt divinely guided.

Many wire stunts and landing impacts that usually required repeated practice to nail without mistakes, Cassius basically nailed in one take.

And the quality was exceptionally high!

The action coordinator watched, dumbfounded, and whispered to Gina, "Is this kid secretly doing extra training at night?"

Gina crossed her arms, watching Cassius maneuver in front of the green screen, and shook her head. "Doesn't look like it. Looks more like an epiphany. His body control just leveled up!"

It wasn't just his body language.

When acting opposite other actors, especially the one playing a mutated creature infected by Parallax's energy, Cassius's performance became increasingly mature.

They were shooting the scene where the protagonist first confronts a mutated creature corrupted by Parallax energy.

The script required him to show intense terror and disgust, but also overcome his instincts to fight it.

This placed high demands on Cassius.

During the shoot, as the infected creature—covered in horrifying prosthetic makeup and moving with twisted motions—roared and lunged at him, Cassius's pupils instantly constricted.

The muscles on his face twitched uncontrollably—pure, unadulterated horror.

But a second later, he clenched his jaw. The fear in his eyes was forcefully suppressed, replaced by a ruthless resolve.

After the scene wrapped, even the prosthetic actor walked over and gave Cassius a thumbs-up, speaking in a muffled voice: "Your reaction was so real, it made me perform even harder!"

His speech was slurred due to the heavy makeup, making his voice sound muffled.

As he spoke, a purple attribute orb dropped from him:

[Adaptability Against Eerie Auras +6]

Cassius absorbed it immediately!

Days passed, and the shooting progressed so smoothly that even the Warner executives were a bit surprised.

Director Martin was all smiles every day, constantly praising Cassius during the daily production briefings.

Cassius silently opened his attribute panel.

After Body Language was the first to break through Lv4, his other core attributes were rapidly catching up:

[Acting Attribute Panel]

Lines: Lv3 (498/600)

Body Language: Lv4 (50/800)

Expression: Lv3 (575/600)

Eyes: Lv3 (540/600)

Emotion: Lv4 (120/800)

Rhythm: Lv3 (510/600)

Aura: Lv3 (520/600)

All the remaining un-upgraded attributes were nearing the Lv4 threshold!

At this rate, it was highly likely he would achieve Lv4 across all attributes before the film wrapped.

"Looks like 'true knowledge comes from practice' really is the truth!"

After wrap, Cassius sat in the car heading back, watching the Los Angeles nightscape flash by the window, calculating in his head.

The high-intensity shooting, combined with constantly absorbing attribute orbs from excellent co-stars, had made his growth speed over these few months far exceed any acting class or solitary practice.

Rob had been walking with a spring in his step lately.

His phone rang non-stop—all offers for endorsements, interviews, and future projects.

"Bro, you're the hottest rising star in Hollywood right now, bar none! Green Lantern hasn't even hit theaters yet, and you're already practically a golden goose!"

Cassius remained clear-headed about it.

Hype is temporary; the work is eternal.

Everything he had right now was built on the premise that Green Lantern would be a success.

And whether the movie succeeded depended on this final sprint of shooting and post-production.

The Earth-based scenes were mostly finished. Only a few major emotional scenes and the third-act climax battle remained.

And today they were shooting the most emotionally dense and delicate scene in the entire film:

After surviving a life-and-death crisis, Cassius and Lindsey bare their souls to each other for the first time. Their relationship undergoes a qualitative shift.

The script vaguely described it as "emotional release and intimate contact."

Translated into human terms: a sex scene!

For Cassius, this was a first in his career.

The set was specially prepped for this.

The location was a temporary safehouse set built on a soundstage, with a simple mattress in the corner.

Aside from essential camera, lighting, and sound crew, and the director himself, everyone else was cleared off the set.

Cassius suddenly remembered those movies he used to watch that only needed two or three actors to finish.

It looked exactly like the scene right in front of him!

In the makeup trailer, the atmosphere was quieter than usual.

Cassius changed into his character's t-shirt and loose sweatpants.

Keira was prepping in the next room. Today she only needed minimal makeup and a costume that looked like an oversized men's dress shirt.

Rob poked his head in, expression a bit weird, and dropped his voice. "Bro, need me to help you mentally prep? Or... get you some 'assistance'?"

He made a lewd hand gesture.

Cassius shoved him out in annoyance. "Get lost. I'm going to act, not shoot porn!"

"Alright, alright, stay professional."

Rob snickered and slipped away.
