Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Apocalyptic game.

Five players.

Survive for seven days.

Kisaragi Akira and Yukino Yukinoshita were both among the five selected players. However, Yukino was nowhere to be seen—she must have been teleported to a different location.

What Akira hadn't expected was that the Doomsday Chat Group could still interfere here.

"So… the chat group still works inside the game?"

He opened the interface.

Exusiai:"Wow! Another perfect deal today."

March 7th:"Exusiai, are you some kind of legendary workaholic?"

Exusiai:"Of course not. It's just that there are logistics contracts. I need money to buy etched bullets. If I don't work, how am I supposed to get paid?"

March 7th:"I always feel like Penguin Logistics isn't a normal logistics company…"

Exusiai:"Haha, that's pretty common where I'm from. I've even seen manufacturing companies that maintain their own private armies."

Aqua:"No! I don't want to live such a miserable life! I want to go back to the realm of the gods!"

Saeko Busujima:"Does that mean once a god goes to another world, they can't return?"

Aqua:"It's not that. It's just that once a wish is granted, it can't be changed. You have to see it through."

Saeko Busujima:"Those rules are… incredibly strict."

Kisaragi Akira:"It seems you've all accepted the existence of the Doomsday Chat Group. You've even gotten used to each other—and changed how you address yourselves."

Aqua:"You bastard! You called me an idiot goddess last time! How dare you insult the beautiful Water Goddess! Apologize right now!!!"

March 7th:"Whoa, it's the administrator! Tell me—how do you know about me? Are you from my world? Have you heard my name before?"

Exusiai:"Oh? Looks like he knows me too."

Saeko Busujima:"The administrator seems to understand my situation as well."

They really know how to ask uncomfortable questions.

Fortunately, Akira had already prepared his response.

Kisaragi Akira:"Just call me Akira. I've already told you—don't ask too many questions. I only know the general picture."

Kisaragi Akira:"Instead of dwelling on that, let me tell you something interesting that just happened."

Akira briefly explained the apocalyptic game he and Yukino had been dragged into.

March 7th:"That's terrifying… If you lose the game, it directly causes the apocalypse?"

Saeko Busujima:"Is this what your world is facing, Akira?"

March 7th:"Oh right! Akira—what kind of apocalypse do you think your world will experience?"

Kisaragi Akira:"Three types. Cognitive, abnormal, and uncertainty. All of them are rated twelve stars."

The reply was short and direct.

The chat went silent.

March 7th:"…"

Exusiai:"…"

Saeko Busujima:"That's…"

Aqua:"Hahaha! That's what you get for insulting the Water Goddess! Beg me sincerely, and I might graciously save you!"

Akira's lips twitched.

"…That stupid goddess."

Kisaragi Akira:"Can you even save yourself? Aren't you hungry right now?"

Aqua:"I'm starving! Waaaah! Why does a goddess have to work so hard?!"

March 7th:"I'm starting to think Akira's description of Aqua might actually be accurate."

Saeko Busujima:"Your world really is overflowing with disasters."

Exusiai:"So what's this apocalyptic game actually like?"

Kisaragi Akira:"I haven't fully explored it yet. I'll check things out first."

With that, he closed the chat.

Akira stepped out of the classroom.

What greeted him was a ruined school campus.

Figures wandered through the corridors and across the grounds.

At first glance, they looked human—but something was clearly wrong.

They moved slowly, stiffly, their movements unnatural.

As Akira looked closer, his expression hardened.

Their clothes were torn.

Their bodies were riddled with wounds.

Rotting flesh hung loosely from exposed bone.

Shriveled limbs dragged against the floor.

They were unmistakably—

"Zombies."

Zombie-type enemies were common in games.

"So the objective is to survive seven days inside a school overrun by zombies?"

This apocalyptic game was utterly twisted.

If all five players failed their mission, the zombies would spill into reality.

Before making any decisions, Akira decided to test their strength.

He walked toward the stairwell.

A zombie wandered aimlessly through the hallway.

Akira raised his palm.

Moisture and grit condensed in his hand.

Lightning gathered.

Palm Thunder.

Although Palm Thunder was typically associated with the standard lightning techniques of the Five-Thunder Divine Art, Akira's version was different.

Black lightning—heavy, oppressive, and silent—burst from his palm.

Perfectly accurate.

The sluggish zombie had no chance to dodge.

Zzz—!

Thunder roared.

The zombie stiffened before collapsing.

Its already desiccated corpse was reduced to a charred husk.

"…Pathetically weak."

It died from a single strike.

With his Level 2 Physical Enhancement, Akira was confident he could kill a zombie with a single punch.

[Ding!]Killed 1 zombie. Gained 1 Doomsday Point.

"Nice."

Akira's eyes gleamed.

"So this is what the chat group meant by interference?"

Earning points by killing zombies?

Was something this convenient really allowed?

For a moment, he felt the urge to rush out and start clearing the entire campus.

But first—

He needed to find Yukino Yukinoshita.

She had been selected as a player just like him.

She had to be somewhere inside this school.

"I'll start searching from this floor."

As he moved forward, he eliminated every zombie in his path.
