Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Monster Hunter World: VR Edition

The Internet Cafe has been open for two days.

Now, Su Ran had finally waited for his first customer, and he didn't want to miss him.

"That's naturally true, but as I said, you must play the game in my Internet Cafe and complete the achievements first!"

Zhao Tie was clearly moved, and nodded impatiently: "Okay, then I'll play that game you mentioned, lead the way!"

Su Ran stood still and reminded him: "Playing games costs money!"

"It's just money, no problem, how much?"

"11 gold coins!"

"What?"

Zhao Tie was already taking out his money pouch, ready to pay, but when he heard Su Ran's asking price, his eyes widened.

"You're not kidding me, are you? Playing a game costs so much money?"

Su Ran shook his head, looking serious: "I'm not kidding. Currently, this Internet Cafe only has one game, 'monster hunter World: Virtual Reality Edition'. Permanent activation of the game requires 10 gold coins, and then playing the game costs 1 gold coin per hour!"

Activating the game requires 10 gold coins? And then 1 gold coin per hour?

After hearing this, several black lines appeared on Zhao Tie's forehead, and he almost couldn't help but curse.

He felt that this young man in front of him was simply crazy for money.

Because according to the price level of this world, 1 gold coin is almost equivalent to a thousand yuan on Earth, so if he were to spend tens of thousands of yuan to play a game for an hour, wouldn't it be better to just buy a high-end computer?

Zhao Tie really wanted to just leave, but then he suddenly remembered the meat Su Ran had promised, swallowed his saliva, and couldn't help but ask again: "Can I really eat meat if I play your game?"

Feiyun Country is located in a desert region, surrounded by abundant mineral deposits, making its people wealthy, but the land is very barren and lacks food.

In the past, Feiyun Country imported food at high prices from neighboring countries, but in recent years, several nearby countries have been constantly at war and have cut off trade with each other. As a result, Feiyun Country has experienced severe famine in the past two years, with even common food being scarce, let alone a sought-after commodity like meat, which couldn't be bought even with money.

To be honest, Zhao Tie had almost forgotten when he last ate meat. Although he didn't know what kind of meat Su Ran was talking about, the temptation was undoubtedly enormous for him.

Su Ran naturally saw the longing in Zhao Tie's eyes and smiled: "If you don't believe me, I can go upstairs and get the real thing right now!"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Tie hesitated for a moment, but finally gritted his teeth and pulled out 11 gold coins.

"Okay, I'll play!"

After receiving the money, Zhao Tie truly became the first customer of the Internet Cafe, and Su Ran led him inside.

The shop itself wasn't large, and the system currently only had five computers. Since there were no other customers, Su Ran just let Zhao Tie take any seat.

Zhao Tie found the computer chair quite comfortable, but looking at the computer on the desk, he still couldn't get interested, even showing a bit of disdain.

"You mean this iron lump is a computer? How do you play with this thing? What's so fun about it?"

"Internet Cafe equipment has been unlocked and can be used normally!"

Because the Internet Cafe had no customers before, all the computers provided by the system were locked, and even Su Ran couldn't use them. Now, they were finally officially unlocked.

Although these computers looked similar to ordinary computers, they were truly black technology; they had no plugs or interfaces whatsoever and didn't even require a power source, starting directly.

In addition, next to each computer was a helmet-style virtualizer, something that, in Su Ran's previous world, only appeared in novels and anime.

Of course, unlike Zhao Tie, who was completely clueless about how to use a computer or what a game was, Su Ran, as a seasoned game enthusiast in his previous life, was at least somewhat familiar with these things. So, after a brief period of familiarization and debugging, he basically understood how to use them.

He opened the computer and saw a blank desktop with only one game icon.

"monster hunter World: Virtual Reality Edition"

Without much thought, he clicked to start it directly.

The game officially began.

"So...fellow members of the Fifth Research Fleet, it's about time. Let's skip the goodbyes. Once you board this ship, there's no turning back. If you've lost your resolve, I advise you to turn back now..."

"Now, let's set sail for the New World... May the guiding Azure Star shine upon you!"

On the screen, with a solemn opening monologue and melodious music, countless members of the new research fleet embarked on their journey to the New World.

"Huh! How can there be people inside this computer? Is it a projection method used by a Martial Arts Master?"

"And what is this New World they're talking about?"

Zhao Tie, who had been staring at the screen and feeling somewhat bored, suddenly perked up. Although he didn't fully understand, he finally developed some curiosity about this novel computer.

The plot of monster hunter: World is not complicated; a New World has been discovered, and this New World is home to many dangerous species, even Ancient Dragons that were thought to be extinct.

The Hunter Association dispatched a research fleet to the New World to investigate the cause.

And the protagonist, the player himself, is a member of the Fifth Research Fleet.

At the beginning of the game, it takes place on the ship heading to the New World. In the original game, players would create a character here, which is the player's avatar in the game.

However, this virtual reality version was different; a prompt popped up on the computer screen.

"Please put on the virtualizer."

Zhao Tie had no idea what to do, but Su Ran next to him immediately understood and handed over the virtual helmet from the table.

Zhao Tie put on the helmet without much thought.

Instantly, Zhao Tie felt as if he had been sucked into the computer by an invisible vortex. When he came to his senses, he was already in the bustling ship's cabin, surrounded by fellow members of the Fifth Fleet all heading to the New World.

But unlike the virtual characters he saw on the computer screen, the people around him now looked like living, breathing individuals!

"Holy crap!"

Zhao Tie was startled, his body trembled violently, and with a thud, he fell out of the computer chair onto the floor, the virtualizer on his head sliding off.

The surrounding scenery immediately disappeared.
